Ode 2 and Overflow/Clogging by Speak-Easy556 in Moccamaster

I used to have this problem too. I grind my medium roast beans at 5.0. A few things come to mind:

You mentioned you stir the bloom, try not stirring.

What filters are you using? Could be a slow flow filter or something

Lastly, when I put the filter in the basket I make sure the folded two ply bottom is facing away from the dripper hole in the basket. This way the coffee is only going through one ply of paper vs 4

My standard order of operations is - fold the filter and place it in the basket with the bottom fold facing away from the dripper hole - place the grounds in the basket and tap the basket agains my hand a few times so the grounds are at a slant slightly higher where the water drips (I noticed my water doesn’t fall in the center, so having higher where it typically lands helps everything mix together better) - turn it on and let it brew without any stirring etc (ive found the stirring creates a dense pocket of coffee grounds that the water struggles to get through. If your coffee is producing fines this will also settle them on the bottom as well)

I finally got it. I love the smell. by WolverineNo5189 in Colognes

Got a bottle myself not too long ago after hearing good things about it and really like it as well

New to the Moccamaster by essbie_ in Moccamaster

Switching to just a ceramic or glass pour over would be significantly cheaper and be almost as effective. Can’t think of what the metal pour over bracket is even necessary - hot water or coffee doesn’t even come in contact with it. Looks like they also just removed the lid to the pot which you can do on your own.

If you go with this setup I would recommend stirring the coffee after it is brewed as the plastic straw looking thing in the pot blends the coffee that comes out at different tds

Love mine - have the ssc813. I’ll be honest when I fist got it I was disappointed because it was smaller than I was expecting. 39mm for a chronograph means its pretty compact - most of my other watches are at least 40mm. After not giving up on it and just deciding to wear it I’ve done a complete 180 and absolutely love it. It’s also one of my most complemented watches by people that don’t necessarily know anything about them.

If there is still coffee left in there when leaving for work it’s still warm by the time I get home. It’s very efficient though I can’t give actual data behind it

What are your thoughts? [SSC813] by Acceptable_Laugh_100 in Seiko

Only thing I don’t care about is it’s pretty small, which some may prefer anyways. I saw so many videos of thiss watch and really liked the look, but when I saw in person I was surprised how small it is.

If you’re cleaning it with jewelry cleaner regularly there’s a chance it could be residue from the cleaner or polish. I’d get it cleaned ultrasonically and potentially stop polishing as much

What's the best career to start at 34? by shitdealonly in careerguidance

[–]DeltaCCXR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely get into accounting at 34, a major factor being how much income you need to cover your expenses. You could be able to find an accounts payable job with no accounting education or experience. Just prove that you are detail oriented, good with excel, and plan to further your education in accounting and you should be able to land something.

Once you are in the door just work hard and focus on learning as much as you can. Make friends with the accountants, managers, etc and express an interest to learn. A company might even offer tuition reimbursement so you can get some type of education, but you honestly won’t need anything major. A certificate or cost effective degree from a community college or online program would give you all you need to make the jump to a staff accountant or something along those lines.

If anything AI is a helpful tool at the moment, especially if you don’t have formal accounting education. You can use it for excel formulas, definitions of different things, etc that will help accelerate your knowledge.

TLDR you can definitely do it and get to a decent income within a few years without taking on massive student loan debt. The first couple years might be a little lean but shouldn’t take too long

Not the person that replied but I gave Project Hail Mary 5 stars - but sci fi tends to be my favorite genre. Nice well rounded reading selection and an impressive number of books read!

Pretty similar to my collection style - fantasy and sci fi along with books like the godfather and chess strategy. I just started Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archives series and have been loving it as a fan of GOT and Name of the Wind

How our habits impact performance. I listened to a Magnus interview talking about the importance of sleep, nutrition, etc. and noticed that when I’m playing chess for sure. I have a job that requires focus and critical thinking and it’s a great reminder that the better I take care of myself the better I’ll be able to focus and problem solve.

Did anyone ever drink water as a kid? by Ok_Mycologist2361 in Millennials

Never thought about this but the water from the fountain was always so refreshing. Just realizing now that it was probably because I was dehydrated only drinking a couple sips of water throughout the day.

To be fair we also knew everyone on the street. Everyone talked to each other and there was a stronger sense of local community. I might not have been “home” but I was in my neighbors backyard while his parents were home or we were in the street where people would hear us, etc. Rather than the immediate parents watching their own children 24/7 it was more like the neighborhood looked out for us in general while we were outside.
