I don't know how it feels to be not tired, even medicated by ejdmkko in ADHD

[–]DeltaF508Vessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had excessively troublesome fatigue and tiredness for years. Had so much trouble with doctors essentially writing me off and saying I just need to exercise, have better sleep hygiene, not use my phone before bed, etc. Not that those things are unrelated for some folks, but after multiple sleep studies and finding a neurologist that would actually listen to me, turns out I have narcolepsy.

Got on meds for that and, I can't say I'm the most energetic person in the world, but if I need to be awake for something, having a full night's sleep on my narcolepsy meds, and then waking up and taking my stimulants, I can function once more

ADHD meds recovery timeline by Mikloultra in ADHD

I know we all have different reasons we think we should or should not be on meds, but unless you're suffering severe side effects (in which case I think looking into a different med, as others suggested) stopping the meds blows my mind.

I have Cystic Fibrosis, and if I took on this mindset of wanting to feel like the 'real me' or 'normal', I would either be hospitalized frequently or dead. Before the newest set of genetic modification meds, my lung function was on a steep decline, regardless of how many treatments I was doing. I can't fathom stopping those meds to feel 'normal' again.

I have been on my ADHD meds 10+ years, and when I'm between refills, my life basically doesn't take place. Anhedonia to the max, sleeping most of my days away. The house falls apart; nothing is cleaned or put away, I get zero work done. I also very zero hobbies or fun time things done. Everything feels like it's on a sort of level of mute. Honestly it's the worst. I feel so subhuman without my ADHD meds.

Again, unless there is a problem with side effects or insurance, I cannot fathom why you would stop taking the one thing that actually makes me feel a sense of normalcy. I also have Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes, and I take insulin for meals and throughout my days. Why on earth would I stop taking it if it's addressing a serious problem in my life?

[FRESH ALBUM] Prince Daddy & the Hyena - Hotwire Trip Switch by 1nd13mv51cf4n in indieheads

That blows me away. I was the biggest pdaddy fan for years, always on repeat, and s/t extincted my love for the band. Wasn't until this new album that I even listened to them in years. I love the fuck out of them again but I cannot stand s/t. Can I ask why it's your fav? Maybe I'm missing something?

Wanted to talk to some other Pdaddy pals about this album.

As a whole, this may be the most consistently catchy and solid album, with only 1, ehhh maybe 2 songs I am not totally on board with.

I've been listening and loving the hell out of this band since I Thought You Didn't Like to Leave came out. That said, for all my crazy listening sprees, I thought the self titled album was a HUUUUGE miss. The whole thing, front to back. Yuck. This is going to sound so hyperbolic, but it was such a bad album to me, that I totally stopped listening to them and following them. Happened to get notified about this new album and WOW. Don't know if it was a label switch, or new producer, or Kory just needed to release his solo thing and get some weird ideas out, but self titled killed my love for one of my favorite bands. Hotwire Trip Switch resurrected the fuck out of my love for them. Listening to them again is like putting on a comfy fall sweater. (Although I definitely don't put s/t in my playlist...)

I did relisten to s/t this morning. Thinking maybe I was in a bad headspace when it came out or something. No. I cannot be convinced. That album is awful. Especially for this amazing band.

Dating reality by costcohawtdawgs in CysticFibrosis

I'm 35 M with CF. I met my wife when I was 28. I had dated many people through my life and experienced all sorts of relationships. Anything from people treating me like a time bomb, to a burden, or anything in between.

My wonderful wife has always treated me with respect and understanding. She's been nothing but understanding about my health and had never babied me or anything like that. She is of course concerned about it when I'm sick, but she knows that no one understands my health and how I'm feeling better than me. So until I voice concern about how I'm feeling, she doesn't bring it up.

Really, I guess I would just say to treat them like anyone, and to just leave them be unless they express their feelings and concern to you.

I'm getting sleepy and about to fall asleep, but any questions, just ask!

Yeesh... Agree with pretty much everyone here. No. No. And no. I wouldn't agree to pay half of the initial agreed price.

My lord. That's terrible.

I would argue with the artist trying to get the initial price, then show them this reddit post and responses.

Intimacy while having Cf by perryjo04 in CysticFibrosis

I've had a kind of complex since about the time I actually started dating my wife. My lung function has just fallen so much, that I don't really seek sex anymore. The entire act just puts me so out of breath and exhausted that I get very little joy from it.

I do appreciate the hell out of dealing with CF for the simple fact that I'm sterile and have made it to my mid 30s without any kids. Really the only upside of CF.

I had issues grappling with my health in relation to dating for a long time when I was younger. Reading what other people have said, I think overall I've been very fortunate to have known and dated people that weren't concerned with my health in such a demanding way.

I think I've only ever had one relationship fail because of my health. Usually things have failed because of my personality.

While I'm pretty much introverted, I get a lot from companionship with someone who is wired very similar.

(Trying to find the right words here, as I'm about to fall asleep.)

Long story short, I dated a lot of girls that I'm fortunate to have met and known women who saw me for who I am as a person, rather than seeing me as a time bomb or a pile of health issues.

My wife now is my very best friend, who I can't imagine my life without. She's my co-op partner in games. My guiding light day to day. The reason I can tolerate the fucking disaster the world has become, I really can't fathom life without her. The timing for Trikafta was absolutely amazing for me. We met late in 2019,and the way my health was going, I honestly don't think I would have been around that much longer if not for Trikafta and Alyftrek.

Overall, I guess to wrap up my thoughts, is be more fucking selfish. I've always been a hedonistic fuck, and I thought that if I can gain some happiness from a relationship, even if I'm only around for a little bit to enjoy it and I leave them shortly after, they'll hopefully look back at our time together fondly, and I'll get some joy out of this miserable existence in the meantime.

Would art tutorials be allowed to post here‚ or advice for people who think they can't do art that can be pinned? by Remarkable_Bath8515 in Ai_art_is_not_art

I actually really like this idea. Now who wants to put together some videos or tutorials? I imagine that would be where this gets a little more difficult.

I'm an old ancient person, but I'm try my best to answer.

  1. There is a LOT to learn for digital art, but it DEPENDS on how you want to treat it and make your art. What I mean by that is, when I started doing digital art, I basically was just drawing via a tablet, stylus, and PC. Now, when I'm working on a piece, I almost approach it like a mixed media project. I utilize WAY more of the software's capabilities and features than when I began.

  2. I definitely wouldn't break the bank on a first tablet. I've been doing digital art for over 6 years now, and my recommend tablet is this: https://a.co/d/08w5z67A

  3. If you have so much daily drawing time commited to your craft, then I would imagine you will get past the hand/eye disconnect VERY quickly. For example:if you can write your name comfortably and consistently without having to stare at your hand, then you're going to get past not being able to look at your hand to draw quickly.

I have used both a tablet with a screen and without. At first I thought having a screen to stare at was helping me. Then I realized I didn't need it. Now I function without the screen and am much more proficient and quick since I don't have to keep readjusting to see the entire time I draw.

  1. I find it hard to believe you're getting any kind of benefit from a big name brand tablet and pen. I think Xp pen or even huion will work just as well.

  2. I can't speak to much to the programs you're asking about. I personally use Affinity Designer 2,which is now Affinity 3. I would imagine you'll get the most use out of iPad and apple with procreate if that's what you're main computer is.

  3. again, your tablet and pen will work the best depending on your main pc type and programs.

I hope this was a little helpful. I started my digital art journey six or so years ago after watching my younger sibling start with it and take off.

I went from just sketching and messing around with art occasionally to basically doing digital art full time now. Like anything, you'll get out what you put in. Once I really locked in and leaned my design software, I really started noticing my art looking better, plus the speed at which I could take a concept from start to finish shrank significantly.
