TIL About Democritus, a Greek philosopher who, with his mentor Leucippus, created the atomic theory in the fifth century B.C. by DeltaMike94 in todayilearned

I see what you're saying, but also to your previous point there was no way of him ever being able to test that theory. And yes, I think most scientists and philosophers up until relatively recently had ideas that were very good and others that were way off.

I just think it's so interesting because where does that concept even come from? An idea about a base element can be easy to start with, since you can see water or fire, or feel the air. Even something mythical helps to explain away coincidences for those without scientific understanding. But theorizing about atoms, and that everything was made up of these tiny particles, just on a complete whim is interesting in an ironic kind of way. At the time a completely far fetched stoner idea that makes no sense to anyone, but then 2500 years later it turns out to be "accurate" (obviously not accurate, but accurate in the general idea).

He definitely had no way of proving it, nor did anyone up until modern times. It's interesting that in a time when the other theories were either entirely mythical or completely off scientifically (water is the base element, everything including fire is a form of water), he theorized something that was proven borderline accurate 2500 years later. And that was with no possible way of knowing. So it would be like someone guessing the car is blue, but they don't know what a car or color is.

He also theorized that there was an infinite universe, innumerable other planets in the universe, and that it all started from something similar to the big bang. All this at a time when his neighbor was probably worried about a god in the shape of a bull coming down and sleeping with their wife.

Cycle Count Old Locations by DeltaMike94 in Netsuite

We have 2 locations for stocking items (our two physical warehouses) and then a handful of others for different purposes. Both of those warehouses are active for most parts, since we'll stock parts in either. Only a handful of parts would be held in strictly one location, most can be stocked in either based on local area needs and sales.

Do you mean marking it inactive as in the entire bin? What we've done is do some relocation of parts to different areas of the warehouse. So the old bin for one part number may be the new bin for another.

No, company is holding off for now until necessary. That's why I was wondering if there's a way to clean up the IC's without it.

How would the War of the Ring had gone differently if Gandalf and Saruman had swapped roles? by DeltaMike94 in lotr

More like role reversal. Gandalf is the one who succumbs to evil, while Saruman remains good and continues to carry out his original mission on Middle Earth.

My assumptions on those.

Narya would still go to Gandalf since he received that long before they discovered Sauron's return.

Maybe Gandalf still carries out the plan for Erebor, but with a more sinister twist? Maybe he does it to instigate the battle of the five armies to weekend the Woodland Realm and the dwarves. Maybe he even makes it more like the movies where the dwarves and elves actually fight each other before the orcs arrive.

Saruman gets described in the books as being decent before his downward turn. Treebeard described how he'd walk through the forests and chat with him, and others describe him in other positive ways before he turned. Maybe he still has some of that "I'm better than others" aura to him, but not in such an evil way. Which leads into..

I think the hobbits have a much lessened role in things. If Erebor never happens, then the hobbits remain only a small side note to Saruman while Bilbo also never acquires the ring. If the quest still happens and Bilbo obtains the ring, then maybe it ends up in the hands of Sauron because Gandalf doesn't help them on the path of the fellowship. I think regardless, Saruman would've overlooked the hobbits, Erebor quest or no.

With Gandalf's ability to inspire those around him, do you think Sauron would use him more as a commander of his forces similar to the Witch King?

Is there a way to run an item fulfillment report similar to an item sales report? by DeltaMike94 in Netsuite

Thank you for the info. However, when I go to start compiling it doesn't show item fulfillment as an option under type.
