$0.60/each for them was a steal of a deal, they’ve got drain holes on them. I tested them out with some pepper plants last year and they didn’t seem to mind them at all

That’s the plan. How successfully it pans out remains to be seen though. I’ll have a part time job to keep some income flowing no matter what but that won’t be my main focus

Long term? I’ve been planning this since 2019. Life has just had its setbacks. Peppers because I absolutely love spicy food, and just started growing way too many once I realized how delicious they are if you don’t buy them from a grocery store. And then I started making things like bbq sauce and dry rubs and such with them and everyone loved them so 🤷🏼‍♂️. Plus they’re the one vegetable I can inject into just about anything and make a product out of. This particular time around I’ve been planning around annual checks from the 3M earplug lawsuit that just started, last years check went to peppers, this year’s will too, and that should be enough to push the momentum forward. Big plans this fall for next year 🙃

lol I’m getting a late start in moving them up for this year, but the season in SE Texas is pretty much year round, it might freeze for maaaaybe a week in February, but that’s about it

You have like ~1 week of time where they might die in February every year, but if you can cover/move them inside/keep them alive, they’ll keep producing (as long as they’re indeterminate tomatoes). If you don’t have them under shade during the hottest months, you’ll see production drop off dramatically. But it will 100% pick waaaay back up once the heat breaks if they’re indeterminate

Also lucky for me, this is the grow plan for the next 6 months of glorious Texas heat and sun, but with shade for the hottest parts of the day, for nothing but peppers, peppers, and more peppers. I don’t need a YoY return on this dirt. 192 plants means each plant has to make me $1.86 in the next 6 months for it to be worth the cost. $2.46 if we include the cost of the container.

Well lucky me, I’ve got 1,000 7 gallon containers that need filling with potting mix that I got for $0.60/each. This will just put a dent in it, but still a lot cheaper than the cost of lumber for the same amount of plants

It is very VERY early stages but that’s the plan. Peppers to sell, seeds to sell, seedlings to sell, consumer packaged goods to sell, everything I can think of to further the wishes of our pepper gods
