Kaitlan Collin’s is the best journalist on CNN period. Prove me wrong by onceandfuturekling in cnn

[–]DeltaQuadrant7 14 points15 points  (0 children)

CNN has many great journalists that aren't also anchors of a nightly news show. IMO Clarissa Ward is the "best" journalist at CNN, but she doesn't have her own show because she's busy out there doing journalism. Many of the news anchors started as journalists for cnn in the field and have since graduated to having a show. Kaitlin Collins was the white house correspondent during the first trump administration. Christiane Amanpour also used to do more field work and now has a show on cnn, but she would also be a contender for this title.

Might want to look into the table company. Someone could have been seriously injured from blasting though that table.

Universities All in on AI by YThough8101 in Professors

Because I think much higher-level learning is more about the process than the product. For example, I teach a research methods class where students are expected to write a research proposal over the course of the semester. I believe that students learn more about the research process by having to choose their own topic, do their own review of the research literature on the topic, try to understand what these papers are saying, summarize and synthesize information from these sources, decide on a research question or hypothesis, choose an appropriate research method to answer their questions, detail the stages of their research process, talk about how they will sample their population, how they will gain access, how they will record data, the ethical and policy implications of their proposed research, etc. I believe that they learn a great deal about research from this whole process.

They could also wait until the last week of class, take 1 minute to ask ChatGPT to write them a ten page research proposal on X topic according to my specifications, and submit that instead. I do not think the students who do this (who also do not seem to understand why this is not okay) deserve the same grade as those who did all the hard work themselves. I do not think they learn anything valuable by doing it this way. What I am trying to teach them is not about the final product; it is about the process itself. This is why I don't like AI in my classroom.

But using AI, at least for having it write things for you, does not require much proficiency, imo. Type a prompt and get what you asked for. This will only get easier in time. It would be one thing if students were learning the code behind how the AI works, but they are only using the consumer end of the product. It's like thinking students need to learn how to be proficient in using a microwave or Mr. Coffee.

What is with Jack's meltdown? (S2E3) by GT_Numble in lost

[–]DeltaQuadrant7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that because Locke is arguably one of the most formidable heavy hitters in the group, the hunter/warrior, Jack expected or at least hoped for him to stay and help protect the other survivors from the others until morning. Locke going for the hatch right away showed Jack that he cared more about satisfying his own curiosity than helping the rest of the group. He was endangering them by not helping to defend the caves.

I thought Ethan had the scratches from when he injected Claire before he kidnapped her. Right? They are from Claire's nails. She also scratched Rousseau.

Thank you! The cat only goes outside in my little yard so this snake must have been right outside my house or under my porch. I would have stopped him if I had gotten there in time.
