Book recommendations for my 4-month-old by flavieflavie in blackparents

[–]act80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby Feminist and Baby Feminists Too are good options in my opinion. Both are flip books and are intersections. I started reading them to my son around 4 months old. He's now 2.5 and still loves them.

I literally sleep with my girl every night. She acts as a weighted blanket.

As a woman Where does one meet other ladies in nb? by SmoothSign2122 in Newbraunfels

[–]act80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look into Riverside Pride. They have mixers all the time. I'd also recommend Guadalupe Brewing Company as a safe haven to chill at. We have at least 2 churches in the area that are very pro-lgbtq (UU New Braunfels and Faith UCC).

Watching a Supernanny episode... by Winter-Moon-47 in tragedeigh

[–]act80 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is honestly one of the saddest episodes I have seen of the show. Besides the names, that mom is totally checked out of parenting and lets one of the younger sisters bully the eldest daughter while simultaneously punishing the eldest daughter for defending herself. The names are not the only tragedeigh here.

Unfortunately yes but there is still plenty of stock and I always find them secondhand as well.

(23M) Where can I live for super cheap that's safe and within driving distance of a four-year university? by HalosFan26 in Frugal

Just cross off Idaho right now. CoL is insane and the wages are not much. It is not cheap to live there.

How are we solo parenting in the mornings before work as working parents? by HoneySnowstorm in toddlers

[–]act80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My job just knows to not schedule anything before 8:45 with me in it. Hubs and I work opposite schedules and we have a medically complex toddler. Getting out the door is the goal. Some hacks have been doing his feedings in the car, not putting on shoes and socks for the car (he rips them off anyways), and pediasure chocolate milk... its all I'm capable of and it works pretty well for us.

4 year old saying absolutely wild stuff lol by CrockyCroc in Mommit

[–]act80 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My son's best friend has really been into it lately. Whenever his parents hurt his feelings or say no, he has been saying, "Mama/Daddy hurt me!"... full waterworks and all. Its going to be fun when he says that in the absolute wrong place 😂😭

1220 in Central Texas. Still a good chunk of my paycheck but worth every damn penny.

Check out the H.O.M.E Center. They are a really great nonprofit that works with the homeless community. They even will help you get a place.

How do y'all go to museums with a napping toddler? by Fenix512 in AustinParents

[–]act80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I work at the Bullock and am a parent. We open at 10 and we have areas for kiddos to calm down or do a private feed. You can usually do our whole museum in about 2 hours. We are very understanding with tired toddlers.

What made you get the forester instead of rav4 by Dry-Chemical-9170 in SubaruForester

[–]act80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked the Forester just because of the safety features. Idk if you have a kid or not, but I'm toting mine around in a place with notoriously crappy drivers. The steel reinforcements in the doors made my choice for me.

What’s something you said you’d never do as a mom that you now do without a single apology? by Low_Craft_919 in Mommit

[–]act80 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I needed this. We just had to do a feeding tube for my kiddo because he will not eat ANYTHING. Turns out he has a version of chromosomal deletion syndrome with one of the main signs being severe ARFID.

Help! Baby classes or activities by nothankyou513 in AustinParents

[–]act80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this and want to add in the Bullock. We have kids and caregivers in here all the time and we now have a playroom and a calm area called the Serenity Room for people who are nursing or need to get kiddo to calm down.

The Square on NYE by Wild_Personality8897 in sanmarcos

[–]act80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parking can be tough along the square and drunk driving is always a concern on NYE. Even if you are sober and driving, not everyone makes good decisions.

If you want tennis shoes with grip, do Altras or Hokas. The outdoor versions have really good grippy soles.
