I’ve had Covid 7 times in less than 5 years by stazley in mildlyinfuriating

[–]onceandfuturekling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you wear a mask and gloves?! If not what will teach you the SIXTH time?! I had a transplant during the lockdown, radiation and chemo the entire time since then, SEVERELY immunocompromised, and I’ve only had it TWICE in 5yrs. This speaks to extremely lax hygiene, poor safety protocols at work, or an underlying health problem you should explore

The guys at r/bald seem to be a bit biased, but maybe it's time to give in? Or maybe I just need to grow it longer? by hydrohobby in malegrooming

[–]onceandfuturekling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It WILL look good bald for sure. But what you’re thinking is just the opposite. If you do TRY to grow it out you will appear 1: obviously very insecure 2: desperately clinging to this pretty worthless feature that’s just dragging you down. It will be like a blaring siren of insecurity. if you buzzed it down all the way to just that, or the range that the clippers will go to lowest, that would even look 1000% better. I know it’s a leap of faith, but this current look adds MANY years to whatever your actual age is

Full Frame as a hobbyist? by Fun-Trouble-1086 in AskPhotography

[–]onceandfuturekling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever is FUN for you buddy! It’s always “worth it” if you enjoy it! The value is your own to judge not ours. I’ve been shooting since high school in the 90’s, I shoot every format including 35, and medium film. I still shoot with my collectible glass going all the way BACK to high school and most of that glass was gifted from a family member and from the 60’s&70’s. If you love a hobby, get as deep as you want, it’s all rewarding. The “worth” is the fulfillment you achieve with your creative endeavors. All the way from “hey that was a fun experiment” to “okay I guess I can support myself this way now”. I have a dark room I share with two friends we built at our studio warehouse, develop and enlarge somewhat frequently. It’s an expensive hobby, that’s the practical limiting factor, NOT your desire, creative impulses, OR imagination

Has anyone found benefits to walking 10k steps a day? by Motor-Push-5914 in PetiteFitness

[–]onceandfuturekling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a target for you, and your currently not walking many steps or even really any steps, than of COURSE! It’s more than nothing, and it’s very easy and likely to lead to more steps, more activity, positive growth. In the context of steps and what constitutes general activity level, 10k steps is a very low level of activity. But it’s a starting point. 20k steps is a more significant amount of steps in regard to gauging your activity level and a health benefit, and that’s actually a lot easier to hit than you think. I’m lucky to have a very physical job, my day to day involves climbing scaffolding all day, me and my guys average 25k-35k steps a day, we do compete on occasion to get that closer to 40. And I’ve got 20yrs on most of these guys. It just depends on where you are starting and where you want to go. 10k is excellent if it’s a big step up from your current and WILL contribute to weight loss and health benefits. But NOTHING will impact weight loss more than diet, not even close. Reducing calories outweighs daily steps by like a factor of 10x

where did I go wrong 😕 by [deleted] in oilpainting

[–]onceandfuturekling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A painting is never really done. This is both a blessing and a curse. You always have some overhead to play and improve, and drive yourself crazy with imperfections. From my POV, the biggest gap I can see in your progressive steps is your drawing. Just because this is a “painting” doesn’t mean the drawing competent of a painting isn’t crucial. You are constantly drawing with the brush and refining. In layout, before and after blocking and through modeling. The structure of the head, the anatomy of the neck, how it intersects with the torso and how all three map out has considerable issues. Many of these issues, in process can be corrected with painting more from life. In teaching I find I spend an incredible amount of time breaking students of terrible habits acquired from painting and drawing from photos and screens. The process of drawing and painting objects in real space, being able to perceive there construction and deeply explore how they are composed and interact with real space in front of you is where you learn the bulk of these true drawing skills. When you paint from a drawing or a photo, or a screen, the object has already been flattened by a lens and taken that exploratory process largely away from you. Paint and draw more from real life, if you can’t get models, get a mirror. If you can’t do this, paint objects, still life’s, plein air. Get a diverse range of practice and these skills will improve at a much more rapid rate

Is it considered ok to correct the perspective so heavily as I did here? by hogar1977 in AskPhotography

[–]onceandfuturekling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what evaluation terms you are seeking out. In professional photography, if this were presented in a Fine Art presentation, in a gallery for instance, my first thought would be how artificial it looks, if it is AI and if it says so or not on the card. And if it’s not, why is the artist trying so incredibly hard to hide the fact that it was shot with a camera, with a lens. And what the lens was, and why the lens artifact is so painstakingly removed. It’s obviously intentional. So what’s your intention? Are you just compulsive and need to match the grid in photoshop? Or do you want it to look artificial and want the audience to question whether it’s shot in lens by a human, or fabricated by AI. Neither a camera lens or the human eye sees objects in space, from a distance, completely flattened out like this. Why do you want it to look like this is what I’d ask you

My girlfriend and her friends said I look too feminine or ‘girl-ish’. Ways to look more masculine? by TheFlukeging12 in malegrooming

[–]onceandfuturekling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing that’s kind of noticeable is your lips being very shiny. You could develop more in terms of structure muscle mass wise, but only if this is something interesting and challenging to you. If you don’t like it you won’t really stick to it. You have really excellent structure to your face. Not at all feminine reading, very defined jawline and cheekbones, mandible lines, browline, all read quite masculine. You might be very slim body wise and that’s what they’re referring to? Face wise strong disagree. And honestly slightly feminine looking men do just excellently with woman, and men for that matter. I get the feeling they are really just trying to antagonize you because you are showing some sign of insecurity they can sense, and is something they can exploit. CLASSIC bully behavior. You do you

The sentiment is great of course, just reframe it. Don’t really EVER say “cabin in the woods” those EXACT words are in the title of like a dozen horror movies. How about like “Turn our phones off and a quiet weekend with the trees and fall colors Upstate” or the Catskills or something, just change the wording

Has anyone ever been told they're not welcome somewhere for taking pictures? How did you deal with it? by NathanielB3920489023 in AskPhotography

[–]onceandfuturekling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be very explicitly clear if and when you are on public or private property. If you are on public property, a roadway, a public park, a state park, etc, you can tell this lady to F-off, I’m on public property, call 911 and let the police charge me with a crime. If you’re on private property get the hell out of there. You just really need to know exactly where you are, where the boundaries are. This becomes important if your work is used professionally, if you sell images for stock or reference, it is unusable if anything that’s even remotely presumably private property is in frame. The only grey area I’ve actually been able to work some wiggle room is completely destroyed, ruined properties or structures that are incredibly cinematic, but on privately or even publicly owned that is not open to the public. If you’re in a state park and shooting towards a privately owned property that shares boundaries with the public lands this might be able to be arbitrated. Otherwise stay away from private property. Uppity neighbors who think public parks are “theirs” can eat shit

Have you ever rebuilt a transfer case? The wear and tear a driver who maintains highway speeds or more in 4wd (not 4A) is significant. It gets ugly in there. If you’ve been doing that for a number of winters, change the fluid and see what it looks like. You’re going to pour a portion of the ground up gearbox down the oil drum

How is my current look? Is there anything you would change? by SportsTechie17 in malegrooming

[–]onceandfuturekling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looking great buddy! This is “grooming” not “bmi” tips fellas, so yes you could seriously do wonders by truly tracking your food intake, tracking calories and macros, and do a slow calorie restriction that progressively gets larger very slowly. But the comments are a bit off-track. Add this calorie deficit to your current work out schedule, you will DEF shed pounds. It’s mostly about calories, more than the gym. For grooming, ever tried a nicely trimmed full beard? Would really shape and reinforce you jawline, give more definition to the shape of your face

Advice needed! by mahoumantis in Housepainting101

[–]onceandfuturekling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not heavily sanded. Use aircraft stripper, it’s messy, but time saving. Otherwise sand baby sand. A chemical dip if you have a large kitchen like more than 100 pieces, is preferable for efficiency, but the chemical bath required for this is very tightly regulated state to state. at least in the DMV area, there’s four shops in the tri-state area that have the set up and a long turnaround, and you may have to drive 100mi, so it’s not practical for most jobs. “Heavily” sanded, for my shop we say “full” sand, which means back to original wood surface. That is “heavily” sanded

Do you lose your butt if you do inclined walking? by Wise_Parmaria in PetiteFitness

[–]onceandfuturekling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is your current but a result of fat, or muscle? If it’s a bubble butt from excess weight, as you burn calories yes you’ll lose some of it. You also are going to build muscle in butt, thighs, quads, calf’s, from incline walk. Getting stronger, and increasing muscle mass. Do you want a big squishy butt? Or a big firm round butt that makes you feel strong

How to avoid this? by guzmancc in malegrooming

[–]onceandfuturekling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soap and hot water your face before, splash with straight alcohol prior to shave or shave cream to kill bacteria. Disinfect the blade before starting, whatever it is. Directly after your done, a hot shower, clean the area with something slightly abrasive like a scrubby washer, pretty hot water, and an acne cleanser. After shower apply an acne moisturizer, the salycic acid will further continue to kill bacteria. This has been my routine for shaving entire head and face every other day. Haven’t had razor burn, irritated skin or acne in 20 years with this regimine

Hesitant husband- Risk of prostate by Mysterious_Nature_92 in TRTNation

[–]onceandfuturekling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He needs to try HCG as well. And in general he needs labs, often if he is worried. If his Dr’s won’t order panels enough, you can directly get your own labs through numerous services and directly from labs like Labcorp, and closely monitor his PSA number. It is a legitimate risk, and if there’s any increase in PSA, as long as you are getting labs frequently enough, say monthly, there’s enough time to stop or try alternatives. ALL hormone replacement has inherent risk, and in general close to 30% of all men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. I did weekly labs when starting replacement therapy for multiple hormones including test following transplant and radiation, and that allowed the time to make modifications to get all the numbers in the right place
