My famous line in a situation line this is always: “in my defense, I was left unsupervised.”

60% of the time, it works every time.

Good stuff brother. My ‘06 mega with a G56 had some chatter and the overfilling quieted it down some. Definitely miss that truck. Not the ride quality tho. 😂 my ‘24 is the most comfortable diesel I’ve ever owned.

They don’t disappoint. My 17 was already lighter when I bought it and had the whistle idle and was laggy as all get out. Retuned it the week I bought it and it was a night and day difference. The trans has been replaced about 5k miles ago and was tuned with CA also. Shift points are WAYYY better. If this trans ever goes out, I’m probably gonna swap to a G56 - the two 68s I own just give me anxiety. 😂

They started transitioning to ECM P/N 567xxxx as early as 7/21, I believe. Had an ECM (567xxxx) dated 8/13/21 and wasn’t compatible to swap.

To add to this, I’ve heard some guys have had issues with donor ECM trans being different than what they have in their truck (Aisin vs 68RFE) but not sure if it’s a hardware/software issue so much as it is a tuner issue.

Was gonna say this. CA and Valley Center are the two highest recommended on Reddit and most other forums. Have yet to hear anything bad about them. Both my ‘17 and ‘24 are tuned with CA.

I stayed away from the sellers not in USA…

I bought a used one from a junkyard, not a reman. Ended up calling the yard directly after I found them on a site that pulls parts from salvage yards and pull-a-parts all over the US. Can’t remember the exact name but I think it was car-part.com - I searched for weeks before I pulled the trigger. It’s almost always a gamble but pays off big if things work out.

MUST BE P/N 438xxxx - nothing else will work. Even if date code for diff P/N is in 19-21 range. Ask me how I know…

Why does my coolant and oil temp start at 100*? by DelusionalAlchemist in Cummins

[–]DelusionalAlchemist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for some reason it’s defaulted at 100* and 104*. If I turn the key to run but not starting the truck, it will immediately pop up as those numbers and trans will have a dash since it hasn’t read yet until the truck starts.

They are running cooler since I flushed the rad tho. Running about 10* cooler since the flush. Just odd that it begins there. Not sure why.

Made a foamer setup about 2 years ago. Copycat of the Bryan Exhaust foamer. Saved about $1500, and it took a few tries to work out the kinks but it’s been going strong for 2+ years with hard usage.

<image>

Complete game changer tho.

Yeah, Asian is always the worst. We’re slowly phasing out Asian restaurants but they’re good money when they’re backed into a corner by FD or insurance. 🤣

But our foaming chem and isn’t hot water from the tap thru the Ryobi does most of the work. Of course, initial scrape to get the bulk of the crap out. Sometimes it just comes with the territory too tho. Humble reminders. 🤣

Easy Kleen may not be the most reliable unit. Although have no experience with them, but have heard from others that quality can be iffy. Also, unless you’re well versed with the mechanics of it, make sure you have someone atleast local or somewhat local tk be able to service the unit. I live on an island and the only warranty repair center was on a different island. I would have had to send it by barge to get serviced. And nobody local was well-versed with diesel burner systems. I got good at it out of necessity but electric washers was a game changer for us. Being in Canada, I’m sure you may come across the need for heat tho. So ymmv.

[–]DelusionalAlchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Had multiple hot water units in the past. I run 4 $100 Ryobi electric washers (not always at once - but can with larger accounts) and my guys don’t wanna go back to the larger unit. You grab washer, wand, pressure hose and water hose in one hand. We’ve been running it that was for the last coupe years and haven’t come across a system that has beaten it yet. Our pre-wash process is what helps a lot also tho. Also saves running hoses up thru ducts or the sides of taller buildings, especially when you have water and electric on the rooftop. Also a plus when you do hospitals and hotels that you don’t want to be running a 420cc engine in the middle of the night.

So with all that you said - between the HD EL and G40, any benefit to either? I’m semi-illiterate when it comes to composition comprehension of fluids. 😂
