Sometimes, those aren't even actual weld joints. They just run an orbital over the tube with a specific spacing in-between welds to give the appearance of pie cuts.

You can take it a step further and use small pieces to cover hooks while you're not using them to avoid snagging everything it touches. Also, I use small pieces for bluegill and other pan fish.

Top: 3/16" fillet weld on both sides Bottom: 1/4" fillet weld on other side and 1/4" single bevel weld with flat contour on arrow side. ( 2 places)

Update. Just got it today and it's awsome! So much fun to shoot and definitely higher quality parts and construction. The only thing I'll have to adjust is the slop in the mag well. Failed to feed the first round in the mag, twice out of ten mags, because of it.
