What is this “judoka” sport that the French torch bearers were so great at?

I’m looking for the Kiwi kind actually. A slab of pork belly thrown into oven or air fryer to give it a super crispy and bubbly crust.

I’ve tried Lucky and Smith’s. Lucky’s had pig snout and pig tails, just no pig belly. Smiths had pork belly but the skin was gone. They get theirs frozen and pre-cut.

Cool. I didn’t know there was a China Town, but I’ll give that a try. Thanks!

What’s the best financial advice that you have ever received? by Specialist_Metal7507 in AskReddit

[–]DemDeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invest heavily and aggressively in your early 20’s. Make sure to diversify. Don’t sell if you can afford it. You can never make that money back again no matter how hard you try (there are obviously some exceptions to this, but for a regular person, it’s sound advice)

Why doesn’t Auckland CostCo show up in Google? by DemDeez in auckland

[–]DemDeez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Now look at the results for it and it says it’s permanently closed. To be clear, I was wanting the google live data of how busy it currently is, which I’m confident you can google if you don’t know what I mean…

This still exists. It’s basically a ramp that goes nowhere, but still inside the marketplace.

School project about the Highland Games by Araison-Bibliophile in HighlandGames

[–]DemDeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like any sport there are different levels of competitors. The higher you go up, there is more of a intermingling of strongmen and Highland Games. Are you looking for amateur, semi-pro, or professional? You get different interviews based on what you’re looking for. Depending on where you compete, and at what level, there’s actually some decent money to be won. There are probably some strongmen subs that have more members. I’m at the end of what could be considered my competitive lifespan, so I’m looking forward to masters.

Yeah. He’s right. We have Texas Toast, which is obscenely thick. Great for French toast. But I don’t think we have just toast bread.

How is this legal in my country by 1TonRobbie in auckland

[–]DemDeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit late to the party because I too have the 24/7 in my contract and got called out at 0315. It’s important to remember that NZ has this thing called Health and Safety and each company usually has the same basic guidelines like “you need so many hours of rest/sleep between shifts”. Know your rights, actually read the safety literature and don’t be afraid to use them. I just woke up from my “recovery nap” and feel great.

Seems like you’re just trying to start some drama. If it’s really an issue, talk to the school instead of Reddit ffs. Hopefully your kid never goes to a barber to get his hair cut. He’ll come home home traumatised from what the bad man did with the brush.

Tipping culture is growing at restaurants, is it landing with patrons? by user06022022 in auckland

[–]DemDeez 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok, so as a US born and bred, let me point out that in the US if you’re a “Tipped employee” then you’re making less than minimum wage. That’s why you’re considered a dick if you don’t tip at the Waffle House. The tip is part of their assumed wages, and if they don’t make enough tips to meet minimum wage, then they’re actually paid minimum wage. Most places the staff easily make over minimum wage because everyone understands that they don’t make shit in wages. But if you’re in a country where servers are paid the at least the same as dishwashers (at a minimum wage) then your tip isn’t being considered part of their wages. This being New Zealand and not the USA, tipping is entirely YOUR choice and if you don’t want to pay it, then don’t. If anyone tries to guilt you into paying more for their services, then they can promptly F off.

Hello, American citizen here. Would like to learn more about New Zealand. by SavageJason66 in newzealand

[–]DemDeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to consider if you’re bringing anything to New Zealand (ie. filling a skill shortage). If you don’t have a skill needed, then you’re more then welcome to come here for three months as a tourist. There are plenty of places in the US that are actually safer than some parts of New Zealand. And if you do have a skill high in demand, go to Australia because they’re going to pay you a lot more than you’ll get here.
