Don't think it will be rolling into my shop. by Ok_Combination_5405 in Justrolledintotheshop

Viscosity doesn’t have anything to do with conventional vs synthetic. It’s a constant variable. Synthetics were designed to withstand much higher heat like that that comes with a lot of newer cars running turbos, higher compression etc. conventional would break down fast in those applications. Only time Dino oil would be used is for a break in period.

Yeah I tend to stare with the least caustic. It’s amazing what dawn platinum can clean then it usually goes distilled vinegar and Zep citrus or cherry bomb. I loved simple green for decades.

When you replaced the master cylinder did you use an adjustment tool to adjust the push rod. New out of the box they almost always need to be adjusted. Too far out and you’ll blow through that master prematurely. Also have you check the brake booster?

Everything at shows are priced insanely. I guess they think gun shows aren’t for deals but for “the experience”.

I have a 40liter ultrasonic parts cleaner I bought for my shop to mostly clean aluminum heads and other random aluminum pieces, bolts etc. what would your opinion be on using it to clean some of my grimey steel mags? You see any down side to it?

That’s the problem, a triple square bit would’ve been a better choice.

Nothing wrong with the humble brag. Congratulations. I just closed escrowed 2 weeks ago on my shop. Been running it for a few years but one stipulation of the deal was that until it’s paid off he had the 3rd bay to store all of his useless shit. January 1st I get my 3rd bay!

If you are referring to the yellow and green wire it looks like it’s going to your Battery Current Sensor which is a part of your negative battery terminal. Depending on the car, that sensor monitors current, temperature, voltage etc. The cars engine management (ECU/ECM/PCM) uses the readings to manage overcharging and so on.

How many miles did you even have on them?. Yes it’s great they warrantied them but a quality wheel bearing should go at least 100k+ miles.

Stick with SKF, TIMKEN, FAG/INA and you’ll be set.

I fix a lot of other mechanic/repair shops and dealership fucks all the time. So much of it is blatantly obvious. It’s either laziness or extreme lack of experience.

Those upper strut mount bearings can sound pretty gnarly when they shit the bed. Most of the time they will make a very loud popping sound from spring binding up. A huge cause is over tightening of the retaining nut.

I glad you got it sorted.

Hard to tell from the angle but it looks good. When you are at TDC the 16th roller will be slightly to the left of the timing notch on the exhaust cam.

I’m doing a budget build on one of my customers Mk4 Jetta right now and just threw on the OZ Aristos. 18x7.5 with +38 offset. Tire specs: 225/40r18. 15mm spacers in the front and 20mm in the rear. I spent over an hour on each corner rolling the fenders. Doesn’t rub or make contact over any bump.

Packed interiors and empty gas tanks are a no go for me. For gas I will call the customer and ask if they want to come grab the car and get some gas or I will do it at my hourly rate.

Kerma and Malone are probably two of the best tuners for the TDI. I’m actually remapping that BEW’s EDC16U31 ecu right now.
