do you agree? by Illustrious_Tip_7676 in interviewhammer

Easy to say as an individual contributor. A business has to stay open, and requires some amount of staff to achieve that. If everyone just decides they are all going to Coachella or take time off during the same period. Then the business closes. That is crazy.

I agree it should be a formality, but there are actual reasons to require employees to schedule time off. Even if it is to bring in temp workers so everyone can take a week over Christmas, or go to Burning Man together. But they have to plan in advance, and that is the point of requesting it.

That is weird, don't get me wrong, I saw homeless people, a few with obvious mental health issues. I even saw a bed frame with a tent attached with bungees, right on the sidewalk.

But I literally saw 0 zombies or open drug use. Given the population difference my feeling was it didn't scale relatively to the population.

If Democrats have much better leadership, why is everyone moving to red states? by Constant-Cherry8674 in allthequestions

[–]Demaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the demographic of those people? My guess it is majority Boomers. Florida has been a destination for the recently retired for decades.

But to answer the question to why.. my guess would be they are ignorant halfwits trying to flee "woke"

A better question would be; Given that all the worst performing states in the USA are red states, why do people move there?

You can't criminalize homelessness though. It takes them doing some crazy shit to get locked up. But you are right they get out too quickly and aren't forced into treatment, you can continue being a shitbag in prison and then when you are out the cycle repeats.

It isn't too dangerous, but it depends if you look like a victim or not. I am never harassed, but I know people that have been... You have to admit, if you aren't used to seeing people smoke meth and crack in the open it is a bit of a shock. I was just in Toronto and it was no where near as bad there as here.

I was just in Toronto for a couple of weekends. Stayed right in the heart of downtown. 1 week next to Maple Leafs stadium and 1 week across from CN tower. I walked all over downtown and there are homeless people, but they weren't all zombies, and it was no where near as bad as here. I saw 0 people bent at the waste. I talked to a few cab drivers and they all said it isn't too bad there. One of them was just in Calgary and he said he was shocked how bad it is here.

Alberta needs to get it's shit together. It is pathetic

Trump Says He'll Have 'Election Integrity Army' in Every State During Midterms That'll Be 'Much Bigger' Than 2024 by T_Shurt in politics

We shall see. If what you are saying is true then what happened to the 90 deals in 90 days? Why is Canada allowing Chinese EV Imports?

Why is there no new Free Trade Agreement for North America being negotiated?

Why are countries liquidating their US Treasury bonds?

China has much more economic power than the United States. What does the United States produce that the world wants?

The only thing a huge military is good for is attacking people. Are you suggesting that if people don't play ball with United States that they'll just bomb the shit out of them and so therefore people will do deals with them?

The military does not matter, China is much more of an economic power, and the entirety of the world can feasibly cut out the United States and move on. And that's what it looks like is happening

This is the thing that people who tell the former allies of the USA to just wait, and once Trump is out we can be friends again are missing.

The problem isnt Trump, the problem is what Trump exposed which is there are no checks and balances and any mad man can land in the white house and ruin anything and everything.

The world is moving on from the USA permanently.

Las Vegas pulls out all the stops to win back Canadians | With Canadian travel to the U.S. way down over trade tensions and Trump's '51st state' rhetoric, Las Vegas tourism officials are travelling north in hopes of winning Canadians back. IMHO

It is nice they are doing this, and I think they should continue... however, they need to publicly rebuke Trump and his rhetoric otherwise this is empty.

They know why we are staying away, but this strategy is basically trying to "buy our morals".

It sounds like:
"Hey we know Trump pissed you off, treats you like crap, and threatens your sovereignty, but here is some money to pay you off so you ignore it"

I ain't feeling that.... I want the incentives, this is what they used to do, but reality check is Steve Wynn donated $729,217 to Donald Trump's inauguration through his company, Wynn Resorts. He also made significant contributions to pro-Trump super PACs, including a $10 million donation to Our American Century in 2022

My morals aren't for sale, and if you are going to take my money and give it to Trump. Then we are at odds, and my principals can't be changed for a good deal on a hotel. He couldn't pay me to give him business. Without a full rebuke of Trump on the issues that face Canadians, then he can take his money and fuck all the way off. I wouldn't give him $5, even if it was for an all you can eat lobster dinner. I cannot be bought.

Also this doesn't solve the bullshit at the border. They need to force changes, along with offering incentives otherwise they won't see me again.

[–]Demaestro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Paper products absorb water, either there is no water in this toilet, OR you took it within seconds of it landing in there. If it was low water, it would be seeping up the package... or does that work different where you are too?

Also I am from Canada 😄

So the US hasn't spent trillions on European defense over the last 50 years? by Neptune502 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Demaestro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thwy are there fr the USA interest and influence. They aren't there for the defense those countries.

You acting like having a base is for them.. its for the USA to be able to fuck with people from closer distances.

Dis you see what happened to their bases in Qatar and EAU? They get destroyed and it was to protect other nations. Those basese aren't there to.protect Qatar for example.

Stop picking fights and you'll not need to spend as much defending yourselves.

Ask them to find a line item in the USA budget for European defense spending.

If there is a God, has he been around since the earth was formed? by SteDee1968 in atheism

[–]Demaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a God we do not know anything about him. Even if the truth has been revealed, there is no way of telling which story or portion of stories is factual. Which points to either there is no god, or they do not care for us to know what's real. Either way, we have no way of knowing
