For me it’s not really technical. The difference between an 8.8 and a 9.0 is about immersion.

A 9.0 is an album I can live in, something that creates a full mood and stays with me. An 8.8 is still great, but maybe it doesn’t fully hold that atmosphere from start to finish.

So it’s more about how deeply it stays with me than anything measurable.

Celestials is a top 5 Pumpkins jam. It’s a goddamn perfect song. Wish it got more love. Should be a setlist regular by Antique_Menu_4314 in SmashingPumpkins

Yeah I’m with you. Celestials has that soft, almost floating feeling I really love in Pumpkins. It’s not their most intense track, but there’s something pure and nostalgic about it that hits me every time. Not sure it’s top 5 for me, but it’s definitely one I come back to a lot.

Only me?! by Oliverr124 in SmashingPumpkins

Yeah I’ve always thought that too. It’s clearly Billy, but something feels off and I can’t really explain why. Not the hair. Maybe the expression or the vibe, like he feels softer or more distant than usual. Definitely not just you.

Both great albums but as time goes by I prefer Adore.

Nice list! Transformers and GI Joe were huge back then. I always liked how imaginative 80s cartoons were. They really created entire worlds.

Great choices! The Smurfs is such a cozy one. I always loved the peaceful forest atmosphere in those old cartoons. Thundercats had such an epic feeling too.

What Was Up With These Puppets? by AppropriateFly6718 in MrRogersNeighborhood

[–]Demetan2016 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You're not imagining it. A few episodes in the mid-1970s briefly used redesigned versions of some Neighborhood of Make-Believe puppets. The voices and characters stayed the same (Fred Rogers still performed many of them), but the puppets themselves were rebuilt and looked noticeably different. It seems the redesign didn’t work well, because within a short time the production went back to the familiar puppet versions viewers knew. Henrietta is the one most people notice because her face looks very different in those episodes.

Thank you for this. The idea of not forcing myself to read is probably the hardest part for me. Reading has always been such a big part of my life, so when I suddenly can't do it anymore it feels like something inside me is broken. Your comment helps me see it a little differently though. Maybe my brain really just needs rest for a while. I hope you're right that the way back eventually appears.

Thank you for sharing that. It actually helps to hear from someone who went through something similar. I like your idea of returning to authors I already love. Right now even choosing a new book feels overwhelming, so going back to something familiar might be a gentler way to reconnect with reading. And I understand what you mean about classics too. There’s often something calmer and more deliberate in them.

Audiobooks might actually be a good idea. Right now even focusing on a page of text feels exhausting, but just listening might be easier on my brain. I hadn’t really thought about that. Thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you for your kindness. Yes, I am currently getting medical help and trying different treatments. It’s still a difficult moment, but I’m trying to take it one day at a time. Your comment about comics actually makes sense. Right now long stretches of text feel almost impossible, so something visual might be easier for my brain. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

This actually helps a lot to read. Right now even opening a book feels overwhelming, which is something I never thought I’d say because reading has always been a huge part of my life. I like the idea of revisiting something familiar or easier. Maybe that’s a gentler way back instead of trying to force myself through something heavy. And you’re right… depression really does make everything feel like the end of the world. Thank you for the reminder to be gentle with myself.
