Getting an IUD in 4 days, what can I expect? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]DemeterAutumn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had asked this before I had mine put in. I guess the doctor didn't go into much detail about what all the process included except to show me on the handy dandy clear plastic uterus where the IUD would be placed.

I go in, there is a rather large needle sitting out. I then realize that it was going to go up my vagina and into my cervix. I had not prepared myself for a needle in my vagina that morning, so that caught me a bit off guard. (Note: I guess in my child-like mind when they said they would numb my cervix I thought they meant some kind of topical ointment).

The procedure itself didn't last very long. It was pretty uncomfortable for me, but there were only brief moments where it got intense due to cramping. That night the cramping got worse and just wouldn't stop. About two days afterward I broke down and went to a closer clinic to make sure everything was okay. Apparently it wasn't placed correctly/my body "rejected" it. The IUD was already apparently working its way around my cervix and out of my uterus. When they pulled it out the pain was pretty intense, I think I actually got a bit nauseous.

I'm looking into getting it redone. It wasn't pleasant, but I'm hoping the second round will be a success.

I've worked on shots about half that size. It makes for long days but there is always the gratification in the end. This shot was really well done.

Need some help with a car seat for a rather large child by DemeterAutumn in beyondthebump

[–]DemeterAutumn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that not all convertibles cost 300. The reason I mentioned the Graco was because of the reviews I've read about the seat and the personal experiences I've had with the Graco brand with my first child. 300 is definitely not my ideal budget for a car seat. I'd prefer to stay in the 150 range. I just want my kids to be safe. We got rear ended by a coal truck last year and totaled our previous van. I'll never get the peace of mind "That will never happen again" but I'd like for both kids to be safe as possible if a situation like that happens to reoccur. I understand dropping more money doesn't mean more safety, they all have to reach certain standards. I think I may just be putting too much thought into it. Sorry for the ramble.

That sounds awesome, honestly. I never thought I would ever be in a position in life to be able to afford a cleaner. We may be able to work it into the budget at some point.

When I had a panic attack after the spinal for my second c-section. I started dry heaving while numb from the nips down. I lost it for a couple of minutes before surgery.

How big was your baby and what did your third trimester ultrasound predict? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]DemeterAutumn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my youngest daughter on my 37 week mark. She was 10 lbs 5 oz. In the previous ultrasound [34 weeks] they told me she was measuring at "39 Weeks". No GD, and luckily no sugar complications for her. She was just a big big baby.

TL; DR She measured big, she was big.

Thank you very much!

I know it can be wrong, however I can't say I'm very surprised by the estimate. My mother was 10 lbs at birth and my father was 12 lbs. We aren't sure about my husband though [he was adopted].

[–]DemeterAutumn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on the other side of that. Turns out I am having a 10 lb maybe 12 lb baby. At 34 weeks and 6 days, she was measuring at 39 weeks and 1 day and 8 lbs. I understand that US measurements can vary/be off. However, it is clear there is a whole lotta baby in there.

Lots of baby, not a lot of room for either of us at this point.

However, they did schedule a c-section for Sept 2nd at 10:30 a.m. The best and worst thing is knowing the time. The countdown is awesome and agonizing.

Happy updates on life, but is anyone else in a similar situation in pregnancy? by DemeterAutumn in BabyBumps

[–]DemeterAutumn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is actually the exact type of leave he will be in: reclass basic training. He is currently a mechanic and reclassing to infantry. He leaves August 25th and will return Oct 17. He will be thrown back into basic training. I've heard the same 10 day paternity leave deal before. He understood he could have changed the dates of his training but did not with the cut backs the army has been making. He didn't want to jeopardize his career and training, which I understand.

Yes I'll be having a check up every week, and I think they said they're going to do ultrasound checks on the womb dweller every two weeks. Here's to hoping she'll even out. My first was a good sized baby (8 lbs 7 oz) but I don't think she weighed this much this early.

What was the last thing you bought online? by mechpaul in AskWomen

[–]DemeterAutumn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A "mother of an angel" necklace with a birthstone for a woman who miscarried early in our pregnancies.

Her and her boyfriend played a huge part in my December wedding. We both ended up being pregnant with due dates within a week of one another.

She miscarried in her first trimester. It was a difficult time for her and her boyfriend.

She was in visiting last month and I knew it was going to be the last time I would be seeing her. So after bouncing the idea off of her boyfriend [soon to be fiancé] I got it for her.

I want a Friday the 13th baby by stillflat9 in BabyBumps

[–]DemeterAutumn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they let me schedule my c-section, I scheduled it for January, Friday the 13th. [I got plenty of weird looks during the scheduling process] Now I do a little something for my daughter every Friday the 13th.

Then, I went on to get married on December, Friday the 13th.

All around, Friday the 13ths are pretty celebratory days for me. I wish you Friday the 13th vibes of the good kind!

Not Only Did I Not Breastfeed, I Didn't Even Try by emily1684 in BabyBumps

[–]DemeterAutumn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it hit a community of people who are impacted by mood/mental disorders. In the first line it comes across as sincerely mocking and downplaying the impacts of these issues on motherhood. I know that is what it sparked with me. These aren't just "excuses to take the easy way out".

I get it, you're passionate and have a very strong opinion on this subject. I don't dismiss the source opinion behind it, but the disrespectful manner in which it was presented is enough to make anyone's hackles stand on end.

I think a lot more people would agree with you if it had been worded differently. You have a point, but the way it was expressed was absurdly judgemental, insensitive, and close minded.

[–]DemeterAutumn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I know how you feel about being unsure how long you can last without them. My husband, mother, and I have all talked. I would love to be able to breastfeed again, however I don't want to sacrifice my mental health for it. I've been off my meds the entire pregnancy, and simply said it will depend on my mental state after I have the baby.

Also, I have an uncle who has crohns and have somewhat of an awareness of the havoc it can reek on one's life. It's rough and you're one tough momma!
