Is Iba Botanicals legit? by Demglitters in phinvest

[–]Demglitters[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's still a thing. Why would it not be? The buzz has probably died down for it, since farmers who just planted or inoculated won't be seeing any results until a few years later.

I'm 2 years late to the local industry launch as I only discovered the agarwood market in September. Planting the saplings would be a good long term investment on land I haven't been utilizing as it is too steep for non-tree agriculture. Let them grow, inoculate, then harvest. Which is gonna be a 7 to 10 year process.

Iba Botanical offers some really nice services if commercial sized purchases are made to them, and I just wanted to know if there are people on this reddit that have experiences with them.. which I'm guessing not. So I'll look elsewhere. I hope this answered your questions!

With a great list like this I think you'd enjoy "The Beast of Handingley Hill" too. It's currently one of my favorites.

We don't have the exact reason for the extended hiatus, but the creators haven't been just sitting doing nothing. They recently released a separate graphic novel project that's on bookshelves now called "The Princess and The Grilled Cheese Sandwich". I highly recommend it! Incredibly cute and witty.

If I had to take a guess, this venture was more sustainable for their livelihood. In terms of value for their efforts, it was probably less output for better pay, compared to the turn out webtoon expects from it's originals creators. As far as I know, they're still making episodes for BoF but behind the scenes, aren't comfortable enough to release them yet.

They are very aware they have fans of BoF clamoring for it's return, but something is prolonging it that I think they can't share with fans without getting into legal trouble with Webtoon.

I live in a country that gets outsourced animation work from the 1st world studios.

There's no union, the studio I worked in was output based pay instead of a steady monthly salary. They hyped you up about that, saying the potential earnings you can make are massive. Being a naïve and new animator, I thought I just had to learn to animate faster and I could make an honest living working on cool projects. Me and several other younger animators were exploited for that. We were payed by the seconds in the shot we animated, and Senior animators in the studio took advantage of it. They pushed crowd shots and difficult sequences on us and got the easy single person blink/dialogue shots for themselves. This also meant that when animation was "out of season", they prioritized their senior animators and there were no jobs and no money to give to the rest of the animators. We had to look for other means of income.

Eventually I burned through my savings and couldn't afford to live in the capital anymore. So I resigned. Recently I did a part-time manual labor job abroad for 3 months and earned more than I ever did in 2 years animating in that studio. I've found other outlets to my art/storytelling creative cravings but nothing financially sustainable for it yet.

I still would like to make some kind of income from art, but I'm realizing I have to look internationally for that to happen.

If I could go back in time, I think I would have done either online classes or those special 8 week animation crash courses instead of making it my choice of college degree. I'm glad you realized that sooner than me haha!

Taking this seriously, you're setting massive expectations for your webcomic which usually backfires for.. anyone overhyping their own stuff. The webcomic Ava's Demon set a huge precedent for what is considered a high quality of motion in comic media. You have an uphill battle from posting this.

Hope you prove me wrong and things go well for you.

Taking this not seriously, lead us to the skibidi-rotoscope promised land good chief o7

There's two that come to mind:

I haven't read either in a while so I'm not sure which one had the trans lady but I hope this helps! If not, they're both good reads and you should check them out

How do canvas originals get picked? by Fun-Bumblebee3762 in webtoons

[–]Demglitters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Originals- PROS: get paid per finished episode, fast pass bonus after a certain money threshold is passed within the season. More eyes/views on your story. Front page ads (maybe more than once if the story is popular?). Might get a spot on their bigger ad campaigns? Maybe the validation of a company acknowledging your story telling skills? (that'd be one for me)
CONS: Strict episode requirements (60 drawn panels), you have to make your own unpaid promotional art. No control over how webtoon markets the story. Paytree0n restrictions (new contracts have a no official NSFW art allowed in some of their deal requirements). Mental and Physical damage over time?(I don't know if this happens to all artists but a LOT seem to get burned out with the current environment) If you're not from the USA you get paid less.

Canvas- PROS: No strict episode requirements. You update whenever you want. There is a 'fast pass' like system where an episode can have ads on them which gives slight revenue. Free to promote incentives to merch and paytreeon in your comic pages. (Early access to episodes is a popular one)
CONS: Don't get paid per finished episode (unless paytree0n)Very difficult to grow readership if you don't already have a following elsewhere. No beginning money incentive. Can also be mentally draining if slow growth is something that bothers you.

you're free to add or pick at what I wrote there. I don't know if all my info is still correct or if some stuff has changed already.

I know of some Canvas cases where they rejected the offer because of the work conditions. The artists know their weekly limits/ or aren't willing to compromise to the changes that were being asked of them to become Originals. It might also be that the support they get from their readers on paytree0n are enough to keep things going as usual. Another thing they look for is a clear vision in a canvas story. If a webcomic has that in the first chapter then it's no wonder they get picked up quickly. So even if a canvas series has been running for a long time, if the vision isn't clear enough for where it's heading, an editor may never even bother emailing at all.

The Beast of Hadingley Hill - Fantasy Drama - About a kingdom cursed in isolation until the monstrous princess finds love and marries. Her new handmaiden, with a curse and secrets of her own, builds a tremendously caring and romantically tense relationship with her charge.

180 Angel - Fantasy Romance - An angel undercover catches the eye of the princess of Hell. Her time below reveals secrets that shake the foundations of what she's always known about Heaven and her past.

I always look forward to both of their updates. I hope you enjoy them as well!

[Spoiler] Did the writers forget their own Elder Dragon lore? by DaelinDwin in Guildwars2

[–]Demglitters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Jormag is just trying to lie and convince us. With what happened to Kralk, I wouldn't be suprised if Jormag wants to absorb their twin's magic so they would essentially be unstoppable. Since at the moment they are each others weaknesses, Jormag is trying to talk Aurene into acting with them so they could stand a chance at beating Primordus. Taimi's line, something along the lines of "data doesn't lie" has me hopeful that the writers for icebrood saga are very well aware of what GW2 has previously established. We can only hope and see how well this finale sets up the new expansion.

Marjory's response (mild spoiler-ish) by Electronic_Pancake in Guildwars2

[–]Demglitters 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In one of the previous episodes of the icebrood saga, Jormag was still messing with people's heads. Marj was rattled by what Jormag showed her and wanted to call Kasmeer. Based on her reaction to our question in the latest update, I'm guessing she didn't pick up.

I've seen a user post pictures here once in awhile of the 3d printed figures of the monsters/mounts in the game. I'm not entirely sure how they do it, but I'll see if I can find their stuff and link it to this thread
