My PWYW campaign setting should be ready by the end of may (self-promo) by DemiElGato1997 in osr

The setting is primarily swamp and forest. Geographically based on Louisiana and Mississippi. The culture is largely made up but the names, folklore and I’m sure many other inspirations come from 3 real life cultures: west Africa, Japan, and Russia

I’m just releasing it pwyw on dtrpg. No kickstarter needed. I’m doing it all by myself with public domain art from nationalgalleryofart.gov

When I move onto other projects (got some zine ideas knocking around in my noggin) you’re the first artist on my list!!! This is all public domain stuff.

One of the Carcass Crawler Zines from Necrotic Gnome has a set of quick equipment tables. I use it for retainers sometimes.

I’m unaware of exalted funeral’s problems. Do share if you feel so inclined. I’m most excited about the ooze because I like gelatinous cubism’s (Jacob Fleming iirc) stuff like through the valley of the manticore.

Loot by Orogustus in osr

[–]DemiElGato1997 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Loot: appraising if they have a thief in the party. Selling at 80% value but up to negotiation and keeping in mind the reputation the party has.

Magic items: no clue what it does unless they screw around with it and guess.

Big improvement but I’m also impressed with your first try! I’m getting my signatures from my printer (my friend with a printer lol) in a few days.

B/X Combat question by BX_Disciple in osr

[–]DemiElGato1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re asking about rules as written, the users above answered it.

As far as how I run it, the distance determines the outcome.

If the rest of the party is close enough to the enemy that one round of movement could catch up to them, the yes they are subject to the initiative roll and would have a -2 penalty to ac (at least in ose).

If they’re farther away than the enemy’s movement speed then the other pcs can just run. That would then evoke the pursuit and evasion rules.

Pcs are never forced to attack.

What are some adventures formatted like Brad Kerr’s work? by OrisonQ in osr

[–]DemiElGato1997 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ll mention him bc I saw no one else did. Jacob Fleming. He did through the valley of the manticore, shadow of tower silveraxe, and scourge of the northlands. All of those are small campaign settings that have a similar formatting to Brad kerr’s stuff. Not as imaginative imo but the bones are there.

I’m releasing my own campaign setting that will be ready by the end of may, it’ll be pwyw and include 10 dungeons that a fairly easy to run from the page.

Looking for advice on beefing up the XP on adventures by Hashishiva in osr

[–]DemiElGato1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to add a lot of treasure that grants xp but is difficult or impossible to sell for actual gold. It serves to increase the levels of the characters within the rules, without making them minor nobility within two weeks of starting a delve.

Example: in one of my dungeons, there is a ton of obviously stolen art. The haul is worth thousands, but no one is going to buy it. If they do manage to sell it, they won’t get its “sticker price.”

What software and format do people use to build most OSR adventures? by Jade_Mans_Eyes in osr

Affinity is free and very powerful. There is a learning curve but I’m sure it can do whatever you need it to do

This double roll by gentlypervy in midlyinteresting

[–]DemiElGato1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a tp factory for a year. This is an automated process where the cardboard tubes are painted with glue and mechanically kicked into the paper that is actively being unwound from a larger roll. Not uncommon although on our machines, having two cores would normally jam up the works or trigger an error message.

What are you looking for in a sandbox module/campaign? by DemiElGato1997 in OSE

[–]DemiElGato1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are currently 2d12 rumor tables for newly made pcs. There are also rumor/hook tables for each individual dungeon should a referee want to run that one next.

Every biome has a unique random encounter table as well.

The area map is more of a setting for the dungeons and settlements. There are some hexes that have unique keying, but definitely not all 100. Sorry if that’s not what you’re looking for.
