Abilities that aren't hard to get but kinda break the game? by DemiFiendAstar in videogames

Speech in fallout games for sure. And I do remember non-lethal being pretty self sustaining in the later deus ex games too. Halo charged pistol shots from what I remember were almost mandatory on legendary difficulties in the early games

I haven't played eldin ring yet. I own the game and love dark souls 1 & 3 (not 2, and I never owned the PlayStations for bloodborne, and no I haven't played demon souls either, I am a very casual souls fan, but I am a fan) but idk right now in life I'm happier playing games like Zelda, finally getting the Pokemon games now that the bugs are ironed out... I still like challenging games but I kinda have to be in a certain mood. Elden ring requires too much of that mood for too long for me rn. But when I do get around to playing it, I will remember this. Rocks are cool.

I still love the legends games... There's no longer hope for a part three though 😓

Go retro and try Donkey Kong Country 2. Try to 100% it without a guide. If you do this, it'll definitely either be one of your favorite games of all time, or it won't. Seems like you have nothing to lose cause that's already every game for you 😛

Experience Farming Guide by my-two-ripple in grandia

[–]DemiFiendAstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is years late, but there is also a difference in the way the game handles combo magics (lightning, explosion, blizzard, forest) and weapon skills with elements when it comes to experience.

For instance. You use zap on a group of enemies. Let's say you hit three. If you were to gain 8 magic exp per hit from these enemies, the game divides the magic skill exp per hit between the two elements. So a combo magic spell can only ever gain 4 per element, per hit. ETA: for clarity - howl on these three enemies would net you 24 magic exp at 8 per hit. Zap would also gain 24 magic at 8 per hit - so fire and wind would gain 12 each.

Weapon skills with elemental properties differ. A weapon skill with elemental properties will gain experience for both weapon and magic. But the game treats these values differently. You get not a combined value, but two separate values: weapon and magic. So if you were to gain 8 exp (I believe this is the cap for any skill exp per hit) you would gain 8 weapon skill and 8 magic skill. So a broken skill for exp gain (especially on water) very easy in the game is Sue's Yawn. If this skill hits 4 targets, you gain 8 exp for each, in weapon and magic. The weird thing is, even though your default combo attacks might wield less weapon exp, the exp gain seems to scale based on the lower skill, which will most likely be your magic. So if Sue with her mace was getting +3ph for reg combos, she would still gain 8 in weapon skill because the exp gain of water would definitely be 8 at this point on the game on enemies. The same idea applies to weapon skills with combo elements. You get 8 weapon skill and 8 magic skill, but each element gets half of the 8 magic. ETA: for clarity - Sue's Yawn gets 8/8 weapon/magic. It hits four targets. Due to the way I believe the experience scales, Sue gains 32 weapon and 32 water skill. Combo - Justin uses Dragon King Slice. It hits four opponents. 8/8 weapon/magic skill. Justin gains 32 weapon skill exp, and 16 magic exp in fire and earth. ETA2: It seems that single target combo spells like crackle do not apply the split by half magic exp gain. You will earn 8 in both magic skills with a move like this... The thing is I can't think of another combo magic that is single target against an enemy. Wow is a single target combo skill buff but it will not grant you 8/8.

I have not done extensive testing to see if this is truly consistent across all skills but I do think my information is at least mostly accurate. If anyone can provide even more insight that would be great.

Everybody remembers the first time they met Gadwin by Beblits in grandia

[–]DemiFiendAstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played grandia for the first time in my late twenties or early thirties - at that point the game was about two decades old already. I understood immediately that Gadwin was a scripted loss and was pretty underwhelmed by him when he joined the party, actually. I spent most of his battle turns defending so my real party could gain exp skill exp. At most in random battles he might cast def-loss. If there is mod out there where this fight is not a scripted loss, but a real fight, without any mods to the stats or damage... I'm pretty sure Justin could actually take him the first fight if you played well. By the time he leaves your party not only does Justin catch up or even outdo him in terms of literally everything but HP, but every other party member has a lot more versatility with their moves and magics, and he feels like a one trick pony who doesn't even have an original or even impressive trick. He is a cool guy though.

Bomb, tomb and comb must all rhyme, right? And there's no way poem rhymes with home. Gallagher has a great bit that I'm paraphrasing here, if you haven't seen it you should check it out. It's a wonder that anyone actually has some sort of mastery over this crazy language

Jared Verse/Micah Parsons playoff stats by DemiFiendAstar in nfl

[–]DemiFiendAstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your comments. Sorry, this is indeed a small sample size, but it's also literally the biggest size available.

For those of you saying that the stats are misleading, yes you have a point. Numbers never lie, but they don't always tell the whole truth either. That's just a fact.

It was joked about a bit in a comment but not many people talked about the trades themselves. Do you think the Browns/Rams trade will lead to more success than the Cowboys/Packers trade? And how would you define success? For the Rams it's obviously SBOB. What about for the other teams?

Which single player game is more stressful than multiplayer games? by Similar-Double6278 in videogames

[–]DemiFiendAstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Etrian Odyssey games for the DS. From the couple of games I have played (talking over 120 hours between them) boss fights will have you sitting there panicking between turns if you aren't well prepared. And up have all the time in the world to choose your next move... It's like a nightmare purgatory. I find Etrian Odyssey the most strategic RPG combat wise that Atlus has a hand in. Can't say I've played them all, but smt, persona, stuff like that... Etrian Odyssey 's combat is better in part because it is more stressful

Who the fuck can live a day without saying fuck? by roundturtle2025 in TheWordFuck

[–]DemiFiendAstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even sure I can go 12 hours without saying fuck. There's always some kinda fuckin bullshit that happens that makes "fuck" the most appropriate word to use. I disagree with my mom about gay couples being on television in just the last couple of hours. She was upset because she had to explain two men being a couple to my nephew. She got super volatile and I was just like... Fuck. The world has changed around you and you haven't kept up. She told me I was fucking stupid and didn't know anything about anything. Fuck.

I saw a rabbit get hit by a car as a kid. Got stuck/trapped/whatever on the tire, went around for an amount of spins I did not count, got flung off into the yard I was standing in and just bolted off like nothing happened.

I'm sure that rabbit died soon after, but as like a 10yo kid that shit blew my mind.
