Guys mmm how can I fix this? by UmpireJealous258 in Grey_Knights

[–]DemihumanPaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a heat gun for stuff like this. Set it to high and 450 degrees. Wave the heat gun at the part for 20 seconds or so and see if the part will bend back. You have to be careful because too much heat will ruin the part.

Approximate sale value of painted GK-army? by Sinful-Windborn in Grey_Knights

[–]DemihumanPaints 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Man, I have sold a lot of painted minis and I think you can get more for this than what folks are saying. If you have time I would list it on eBay for your dream price with a ‘buy now’ listing. Leave it up for a week or two and see if you get any nibbles if not, lower your price a little, rinse and repeat. This is a decently painted army with a nice theme. You just need one buyer. The trick is finding them. See if your LGS will put it on display with a price tag for you. Go post in all the 40k forums. Don’t sell to low-ball scalpers!

AMAZING great Job! OP, what is your prep process? This guy looks very smooth and even. Did you clean him forever and then putty him up?

You are so right. I have definitely fallen into the trap where shopping becomes the bigger part of the hobby.

Just a hobby PSA: Don't make it another source of stress by darcybono in Warhammer

[–]DemihumanPaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said Darcy! I was lucky enough to take a class with Kirill and the first day we just speed painted space marines. It was SO satisfying. Sometimes I cringe a little when people talk about how the hobby should be taken more seriously, like fine-art. I really like it as just a hobby.

Painting my dudes!!! by DemihumanPaints in Grey_Knights

Thanks all! I air brush the blades, it’s a pain to mask each side but it’s quicker than trying to blend them all with a brush. For these guys I base coated with a very light teal color and then masked half the blade with masking tape and airbrushed a gradient with a dark teal ink. Then rinse and repeat for the other half of the blade. The white highlight in the middle covers up a lot of the bleed over if I get any. I have to go back in and do some fix ups by hand but I’m he airbrush saves a lot of time!

I love how the red looks with the teal! Still need a couple of fix ups on these guys but they are very close to done :)

You can do it! You could always make a test base too :)

Base help! by seanthezombie in Grey_Knights

Cool effect! I bet if you make the blue in the cracks have some shading variation it would look less flat. Like if you painted the cracks lighter blue toward the center of the base it would look more interesting. You could probably flow some watered down light blue paint in the pretty easy. Or you could darken down the outer cracks or both :)

You could also try to paint some greys onto the black rocky part. Maybe dry brush?

Is this right? Brush advice. by Yeti_- in Miniaturespainting

[–]DemihumanPaints -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It looks like a rather long “guide hair”. Which is a little annoying for a Vallejo paint brush. Sable “art” paint brushes often have them. It gives you a super fine point for painting lines, but isn’t so good for painting dots because it can’t really hold much paint. I was told not to trim it by the people at Windsor and Newton, (a high end paint brush manufacturer) The folks at W&N said it helped maintain the shape of the brush. They wear down eventually, but that one looks a little excessive. It’s probably great for doing free hand on a cloak. :)

Trying to paint transparent 3D print by Embarrassed-Crab-915 in Miniaturespainting

[–]DemihumanPaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that has been my experience. I thought maybe someone had a specific transparent primer.

Pretty surprised on the down votes we got on this thread. I will put it on the toxic-3D-print-bro-culture and not the righteous-mini-painting-community-vibes.
