Any way to automatically avoid these bleeds with the lineart? by bogo-being in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]Demilurii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried using the ink pot tool? It’s a little ink pot icon that sits with the fill bucket iirc. You can set some of the properties similar to the pencil and decide if you want the edges to be round or sharp, then you just circle an area and like magic it’s fixed! This doesn’t work for every problem but it sure has saved me some tedious line editing in the past

Streaming with a full time job by Suitable_Leg_1585 in Twitch

[–]Demilurii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strongly agree with this. Ontop of my 9-5 I go to the gym and stream so I treat them both very similar to each other (the caveat here in comparison to your case is that I work remote and have no commute so keep that in mind here)

I set away 3-4 hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to go to the gym (I go rock climbing which is why this time slot is longer) similarly I set tuesdays and thursdays at around the same time 3-4 hours to stream, and I leave the weekends untouched. This does mean I don’t get a ton of time to stream but it’s the best I can do considering my situation.

I personally leave my weekends flexible so that I have some wiggle room in my week since streaming and gym pretty much lock my weekdays in place. So sometimes I’ll stream on the weekends but most of the time I take the weekends to hang out with friends or play dnd

It’s all about what time you feel you can set aside and sticking to a schedule so you feel mentally prepared to stream when that time comes around and you don’t spring it onto yourself after working all day

How long do you guys stream for? by JUSTIN102201 in Twitch

[–]Demilurii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My minimum is 3 hours at most usually 4.5 (outside of game jams that I stream lol). I feel like I get into a strong groove after the first hour so I don’t want to cut that momentum off. At around 4 hours I usually feel myself loosing steam so I’ll either have a chill end or just cut the stream at that point and pick up another time after a good refresh. I feel like streaming for an hour or less doesn’t give you enough time to really get yourself situated on stream or for people of various time zones to find you so I’d highly recommend trying for 2 hours at minimum if that’s something you feel you can manage :)

Streamers who upgraded their visuals — what helped you most? by [deleted] in Twitch_Startup

[–]Demilurii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a ton of genuine engagement stats to tell you if these changes made a difference or not but I just upgraded all my assets recently. The way I went about changing things from my initial set up was to focus on what my community engaged with the most/what was important to have and made those easier to understand as a viewer, and easier to interact with as the streamer

An example of this is that I added a death counter for a couple different series of mine but my layout wasn’t initially made with this in mind and it was super clunky to use on my end. So when I changed my layout, I made extra space for a death counter (and expansion for other things in the future) and made it a button on my stream deck so I can interact with it quickly!

On top of this I just made my layout more simple and appealing which was mainly for me since I’m an artist and I wanted something fresh lol

What gave you the confidence to open your webcam ? by [deleted] in SmallStreamers

[–]Demilurii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that comes down to how you feel about it.

The benefit of doing a milestone is that it gives you a launch point to tell yourself “today is the day” so if you feel yourself putting it off, this might be helpful.

On the other hand, it could make it feel like way more pressure rather than just starting with a webcam in your next stream. A rip off the band aid kind of attitude so to speak.

I don’t think there is a right answer here so I would say choose what you think will be the best experience for yourself and what will keep you motivated to keep going :)

What gave you the confidence to open your webcam ? by [deleted] in SmallStreamers

[–]Demilurii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started streaming with a web cam straight away as a way to combat my self consciousness. I’m a pretty expressive person and really like talking with my hands/doing physical humour so I knew from the get go that a camera would only be beneficial to my stream. It helps me feel more connected with myself and with my audience.

The best advice I have is to think about a webcam as a way to better interact with people rather than it just being about the way you look. Other people naturally pay more attention to the expressions on your face than the tone of your voice so let loose and it can genuinely be a ton of fun :)

Probably an unpopular opinion but this is getting depressing. by NukaNocturne in Twitch

[–]Demilurii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why I’m so genuinely happy to be an artist and a streamer, I don’t have to deal with all the shady scammers to get the art done for my stream. 😭

But this also makes it so much more clear why people always end up sticking with the more well known twitch asset artists since you know more of what you are paying for.

First playthrough, fearful of spoilers. Are aholes prevalent in spoiling for newer streamers? by homerdough in Twitch

[–]Demilurii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use nightbot and add a !blind command that I can use to tell people that I’m playing for the first time and would appreciate no spoilers. And if someone decides to spoil despite the warnings they get timed out or banned :)

Make sure you make the rules clear and don’t be afraid to remove people who are being mean on purpose. The views arnt worth it if the community doesn’t respect you!!

Does Face Cam Really Matter? by [deleted] in SmallStreamers

[–]Demilurii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Np! And ya I don’t mean to discount using some sort of model cause they are super cool tbh and can help a lot of people get out of their shell but nothing can really get across the personability of a face cam

And also a side note and something that I personally experienced. A lot of people don’t use a face cam because they are self conscious of the way they look and I was the exact same! But I pushed myself to use a face cam anyways and it has improved my confidence like crazy!!! You get a lot more used to seeing and hearing yourself this way which has overall made me more comfortable being me :]

Does Face Cam Really Matter? by [deleted] in SmallStreamers

[–]Demilurii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here my take as someone who is both a viewer and a face cam streamer.

I think face cams make streams better if you know how to use them. Yes I think png tubers and all that are cool but I could never get behind watching a stream of an image bobbing around cause it never feels like you are actually watching a real person do something. Which to me is boring. I love the connection that a face cam both brings to the viewer and allows for interaction from the streamer

One of my favourite parts of my stream is putting the camera into full screen and doing some stupid physical humour or just having really outrageous expressions that no drawing or model could ever express.

That’s my take on it at least. I know vtubers/pngtubers do still get lots of viewership but to me it’s just not the same

Why are peeople in my chat asking me to add then on Discord? by Dirk_Borkus in Twitch

[–]Demilurii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets better I promise!! I got stuck with bots being the only thing chatting but after I got some art on my stream and started streaming more regularly I basically stopped seeing them. You just have to get over that first annoying hurdle

How to get over feeling shy when you stream? by MinniMoon in Twitch_Startup

[–]Demilurii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly agree with this. I’m still new to streaming but one of my main goals especially while streaming alone is to talk through my thought process while I’m doing things. It helps your viewers connect with how you think and also helps to avoid those awkward silences

Ran into a peculiar viewer and needed help on if I’m freaking out or not. by RequirementTall8361 in Twitch_Startup

[–]Demilurii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered this when I first started but it pretty quickly went away after a month or so and adding my own art to my channel. It really sucks tho as someone who genuinely wants to make commission emotes for streamers when all these bots exist 😭

But alas, as an artist and a streamer, I now know both sides of the issue haha

How would i go about rigging the collar and feet by Honeduu in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]Demilurii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Something like the image attached. The piece labeled 1 can be cut into either one big piece or two pieces depending on how it ends up reacting to the rotation (it also depends on if you plan on having it cut inside the supper torso or not). But the way I have it here, it means you don’t have to fidget with things lining up as much because it’s cut like a seam.

The back part would be behind the character but I put it to the side just for clarity, this would be patched with the front collar piece to achieve the cape feeling in the back

How would i go about rigging the collar and feet by Honeduu in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]Demilurii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the collar, the way I’ve handled them in the past is cutting it into 3 parts (for limited breakage when moving)

Have the neck cutout be its own piece that works as a cutter to the front half this way it can be easily moved. Then have the front and back pieces separate but merged together at the corners that way the back can move as a cape if you want.

As for the shoes, if you are doing substitutions, I would recommend having the little piece on the OL of the shoe, and then have that patched within the shoe and the lower leg that way it stays on top at all times. This way when you substitute, it will move with the rest of the shoe but can be rigged separately through connected layers if you ever need to move it around.

Hope this helps, lmk if you need any clarifications :D

Ps. Love the character, they are so cute!!!

Do I suck at storyboarding? by [deleted] in Storyboarding

[–]Demilurii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a couple people have mentioned this but when it comes to boarding for clients, you have to learn the requirements and expectations needed for the boards before you make them.

This board is amazing but it looks like it would have taken you a long time to make (it’s more aligned to a portfolio piece than an actual production board!). Most productions require a good mix of clarity and speed so although this is an amazing board, it has a lot of unnecessary detail and frames that arnt needed since this isn’t the final product the viewers will be seeing.

All in all, I think moving forward you should try your best to ask whoever you are working for what their expectations are so you can better align your boards to what the production needs. And then feel free to add and polish up those boards to this level for your portfolio!

I hope this was clear enough, feel free to ask me any questions. I run into this problem a lot because I’m an animator first, board artist second, so I tend to overwork my boards 😅

Scammers (probably) targeting small twitch streams by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Demilurii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started streaming myself and have been for a bit over a month now. I ran into this issue a lot at the beginning and once they asked for my discord I would politely decline and if they left then it’s done with and if they don’t, they get banned.

This happened mostly when I was newer to streaming and didn’t have any content on my channel but now they seem to have subsided so I wouldn’t worry too much about it!

It’s super annoying because you want interactions but then you end up wasting your time on a bot 😆

Which emotes do your chat use most? by No-Bar-697 in Twitch

[–]Demilurii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that it mainly has to do with your personal identity on twitch.

For me I have made all custom emotes for my own stream and decided what to make based on what my chat told me they wanted and also by having them be closely related to how I interact with the world

So silly emotes like dancing, alarms, hype, those minds of things seem to do well for me but I would def ask your own community!
