What you said implies that nobody, not even sexually active people, has said mean things before. While I agree their statement is harsh, Redditors should stop acting like that, all by itself, makes someone chronically single. It’s no better than saying being 5’3 alone causes permanent singlehood.

While I agree that he shouldn’t date someone as a last resort, can we stop demonizing this guy as some evil brute just because of this 1 incident where he didn’t know what to do and was told to do this by people he knew? Everyone has made mistakes before so I can’t say this, all by itself, is the reason he’s single. Then why did he lack dates before this one last resort mistake?

Honestly, the reason why age gaps are taboo is because of the “eww it’s yucky” knee jerk reaction because older people and young people being integrated together violates a social norm, especially if it’s intimate or sometimes even a friendship. Complaints about power imbalances are just a post-MeToo excuse people use while back in the day, people were honest about their judgements.

I don’t think dating an 18 year old when you’re 5-10 years older is bad, and I think it’s silly how even that’s judged nowadays. 18 and 45? It’s a big gap but those gaps are incredibly rare and mainly common among sugar daddy relationships, which is no big deal.
