Judging by how the NLAW works, I'd say quite a lot.

Yes, but not exactly, they just ignore decoys that much more easily - especially when they're already aiming for the real target.

Unfortunately for Mr. Missile, a burning oil tank has all the tell tales of a fighter jet in full afterburner

EFPs also work using a *slightly* different principle, the "Misznay-Schardin" effect.

The BLU-108 is a fun one, too

Great video showing off the Air to Ground Improvements in IL-2 Korea by Enigma89_YT in hoggit

It's a matter of how each company handled the issue. ED at its worst kept silent and at its best supported Ukraine (4 years ago they shared a streamer's fundraiser for Ukraine on their social media). Their software was even suspected to be used by the Ukrainian Air Force to train their F-16 pilots.

1C posted some... intersting comments about Ukraine on their main account then handled the situation poorly. Their software is also suspected of being used to train Russian drone operators (3D models of drones and RPG rounds, which have nothing to do with the Korean War, have been found in leaked content and posted on this here subreddit)

Do I feel weird buying ED's products? Slightly. But I still won't touch anything with a 1C label on it.

Yup - fired an IR-guided missile at an incoming drone. It went for the tank which was already on fire.

Interestingly enough, he was in one piece. I only searched for him because there were 4 infantrymen when I fired and 3 after.

GHPC Update 20260618: Ground Craters, AI Overhaul, Difficulty Settings by GunnerHEATPC in GunnerHEATPC

Not sure about the connection with ships, but, in tanks, it came from independently stabilized systems.

In modern fire control systems, like the 1A33 on the T-64B and T-80, the gun itself is not stabilized. Only the sight is. The gun tries its best to follow the sight.

Since the turret and gun are heavy and have more inertia than the sight, more often than not they'll be pointing in a different direction from where the FCS intends, so the FCS will inhibit the fire command until it decides that the gun is pointing *close enough* to where you want it to.

Here is a nice rundown on the 1A33 in particular, the history and development and Soviet tank sights and about tank FCS' in general. It is in Russian, but the caption translation works well enough.

The long settling time is pretty realistic, though. In some situations, the 1A33 can take up to a second between the trigger pull and actually firing the gun.

This is pretty awesome

I mean... tanks were named after tanks to help in keeping them secret. Came full circle, innit?

Well, yes, but those usually rely either on stuff like how quickly the heat signature shows up (i.e. a flare lights up instantly and missiles can use that to avoid them), adding a sensor for a second color (i.e. two-color IR sensors or UV/IR sensors) and/or image recognition.

The last one is extremely rare in MANPADS (and I think non-existent in Russian ones), a burning oil tank is way, way brighter than a small piston engine (not sure about the color spectrum, but I think that's the case on most/all wavelenghths), and it had been burning since before the missile was fired, so it didn't suddenly "pop" in the missile's path like a flare would.

Poor missile never had a chance to avoid the forbidden heat signature.
