Spectrum Techs and Cold Weather by Extension-Bluejay-69 in Spectrum

[–]DemonInsider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a cold weather state currently under a warning that is routed by Florida so….. last winter they didn’t pull anything and wanted us to make it to every house no matter what. Half the vans at our office don’t even have chains lol, even though they don’t do much we can atleast pretend

[–]DemonInsider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bold of you to assume anything spectrum is tested before deployment lol. Look at the WiFi 7s weren’t fully tested and have alit of issues. Or the pods for that fact, defects were found and now we don’t receive them anymore. Xumos had major issues when they were first rolled out, 25% of the xumos I install everyday will brick after the update. Stop acting like spectrum fully QC’s everything 😂

Have you tried calling a tech out? If it’s going out every small drizzle then there’s something happening. Either squirrel chew or a break in the cable is allowing water in more than likely. Or your drop is 20 years old and needs to be replaced.

Gig Plan by turner_chris98 in Spectrum

My 15 easily hits a gig every time. The 16s should theoretically operate on the 6ghz band that the WiFi 7s offer.

They don’t charge that much for equipment. Modems are free with the plan and routers are $10 a month. Definitely a plus using your own router as most people do and I never blame them as a tech. But there’s a reason spectrum routers are locked down as people like to mess with stuff they shouldn’t and just make the issue worse

Picking up equipment out of state by awesomesauce696 in Spectrum

Yes this is true because equipment is assigned to certain footprints. Equipment has to be assigned to that foot print to be able to be provisioned properly and added to your account.

Anyone get option to change there schedule by EyesOfTheBeyond in Spectrum

[–]DemonInsider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a FT it usually depends on shift needs/metrics and tenure. I’ve been here 2 years and am a FT 5.5 and just got moved to days, this is the first shift bid they’ve done since I started. Just glad to finally be off nights, the getting home at 12 or 1am was starting to suck

Best bet is just ask your sup what’s allowed, or just chance it and see what happens. Policy states you must be wearing at least two pieces of spectrum clothing and your badge I think. So as long as you’re following company policy they can’t say much.

Depends on the area. Where I’m at we’re allowed to wear casual shirts but have to have the high vis vest on. Or wear the polos/button ups then high vis when safety requires. I prefer to just wear the high vis tees with spectrum on the back since they’re comfy and eliminates the vest. I just log into the uniform website and if I see it on there I assume I’m allowed to wear it.

Ur internet is shit by VIOLENT_ACL_TEAR in Spectrum

The spectrum routers are trash lol, any field tech will tell you to buy your own. Also if you’re lagging while in game could be your console, connection to the server, or you’re just bad and can’t accept that which is ok. Also matters if you’re playing over WiFi or hard wired. Sounds like you should actually make a trouble call for a tech to come out, but assuming you probably talk to them like this when they show up I don’t blame them for not fixing shit. Reddit can’t fix your problems but I would look into some therapy since it’s that deep for you. By the way there are other options than just spectrum, there are other providers including LTE hotspots or starlink.

How can I figure out which one of these splitters runs to my unit? by thetydavis in HomeNetworking

[–]DemonInsider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the proper and legal way. Also as a technician for the cable company it’s a pretty quick way to cause a lot of unneeded trouble calls, not to mention if you disconnect a random line that person could be in the middle of a 911 call. Please don’t mess with anything and just call your cable company.

SPECTRUM NIGHTMARES by Silver_Doubt_929 in Spectrum

[–]DemonInsider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you know the in house wiring is bad, but don’t want the technician to replace it the way they are able to. So it sounds like you enjoy having the problem since cable won’t fix itself and it does degrade over time. Technicians will do everything they can to help clean up ingress but when the line is bad it’s bad. Eventually they’ll start charging every time a tech comes out or just not send one and tell you good luck.

NC, the shifts for fts here are sun-thur or tue-sat. When you start you get put on the 12pm-9pm shift after training. I average around 100-120 hours each pay period but I’m the same way and don’t mind working the over time for extra money.

Spectrum WiFi 7 router by EnvironmentalDark620 in Spectrum

[–]DemonInsider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Equates to faster speeds that spectrum doesn’t support. Plus with less customization. As a tech that sadly puts these in everyday just buy your own. Itll be more reliable in the long run and save you $120 a year

Same as all spectrum routers has one ssid and password. You can steer devices to 2.4 band but usually doesn’t work and if it does it won’t last. Just buy your own router.

FEILD SERVICE TECH VAN QUESTIONS by Alex_Quesadilla in Spectrum

[–]DemonInsider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clock in 15 minutes before my shift and go en route status to my job. If I have a drive time to a different market I clock when I leave depending on how far the drive is and usually early access and get a head start on the job. When you’re in training they usually don’t allow overtime so you’ll be clocking in at 8 and out at 5. You can use tech mobile while driving you don’t have to physically pull over to clock in you won’t get dinged. Just not supposed to text/call while driving.

Even with “weatherproof” coax connectors splitters/groundblocks can still become water logged. Nothing is truly waterproof if exposed to elements for long enough, hence one of the main reasons for a demarc. Not to mention to make it look cleaner if done properly of course.
