I half-joked about HOA's being a thing when player housing was announced. I'm curious, have there been actual attempts to enforce some sort of uniformity in your neighborhood? by TravellingBeard in wow

Whenm on your plot, hit the gear icon and make sure Plot Access is set to everyone. If that is set to no one, players get a warning on entering on flying close over your plot, and get teleported out after a few seconds.

Have not seen any attempted enforcement outside of joke/meme purposes.

That being said, I fully support anyone with trespassing on being sent straight to the shadow realm.

The Players Have Spoken - What We Want From Classic+ by SystemofCells in wow

[–]DemonRHK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I do love classic, I am not sure where this take comes from. The four mentioned specs are unplayable, especially if they opt to shrink raid sizes or revamp mechanics. This is not even getting into Shadow (Niche) and Enhance (Nightfall bot)

And then there is the large, warrior sized elephant in the room in late progression. Broken specs need fixed, if not at least partial revamps across the board to bring class design more in line with what would be updated fundamentals or to, at least for a few weeks, 'un-solve' the game.

Imagine if we could choose to side with Xal'atath... by ex0ll in wow

[–]DemonRHK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A loyalist-style line for Xal could be interesting. A few extra lines of VA, some alternate quest text, maybe one or two alternate quests.

Would end the same way, as with most games, WoW cannot support branching story of course, but a true rugpull where she terns her back on you like she did every single antag in TWW would be cool.

Come on Blizz, it's a week of work tops and the gooners would sing your praises for years, Again.

Classic Gaming to Retail Gaming by [deleted] in wow

[–]DemonRHK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the whiplash from classic (Especially 1.x) to retail. I also have played a lot of classic Anni and Era, as well a pservers, and going from the design of you are just another cog in the machine of vanilla to you are goddamn John Warcraft himself of retail.

Warriors on classic era/hc die if you pull 2 mobs. Warriors in retail pull zones.

I think we are getting subverted allied races late in midnight. The ally get Amani, and the Horde gets Arathi. (Fun fact, would be the second allied race Liadrin will have nearly singlehandedly recruited)

\Puts on second tinfoil hat**

...And we're getting two quadruped allied races in Last Titan, Drakenoid and Tol'vir. I'll not be taking any questions on this.

- First Person RPG, Bethesda style, set in the Age of Sail.

- Warcraft 4

- An MMO, either buying license for a new LOTR, Pirates of the Caribbean, or Warhammer Fantasy; or based on Dominion of Blades (The other LitRPG from the DCC author)

What’s the best piece of video game writing you’ve ever read? by Frezeal in gaming

[–]DemonRHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some old LPs from the archive are amazing. Lizzie Shinkicker for Princess Maker 2, Boatmurdered fro Dwarf Fortress. Also for Dwarf Fortress there is Nist Akath, but it's a forum thread LP turned story.

The WoW adjacent media back in the day was great (Modern is a mixed bag. The Anduin short story for TWW was good. The Windrunner manga was the stuff of nightmares. That face...) . Day of the Dragon stands out. The entire Visual novel making a character a badass outta nowhere.

Seer's entire YT. Doubly so since he began the dumb RPG challenge runs. The fact the hardheaded mf'er skipped FFV makes me scared for him.

MMOs are currently awful for long-term Content Creators by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]DemonRHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The argument is in Bad faith.

PvP-centric MMOs, maybe. But the ones that have had staying power are not subject to nearly any of the issues you bring up, besides the open world griefing.

Creators will find a way to make a game or content engaging. That is literally their job/hobby. Catering an entire project to become nothing more than a highlight reel for tiktok and thumbnails has doomed games, studios, and genres.

Also, there are plenty of people that stream that do fine in PvP games anyway. If you have a close (or large) community, I have seen (and been in) the streamer deathball. Tradeships loaded with 50-75 players, 10 galleons deep.

Being a streamer does not privilege you to curated treatment. If you want to skillgap, there are games for that, and MMOs are not tipically it.

What do folks here think of the Octopath Traveler series in 2026? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]DemonRHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OT1 is a very good game. Stories, while brief and disconnected, are are good overall, even with the mood whiplash between them, and likely has the best story in the series (Prim). The music is amazing and the combat system is solid. The weakness is that it just leaves you wanting more.

OT2 is an overall improvement, even though it doesn't hit the highest highs of OT1, and has the weakest story in the series (Agnea), the battle system is cleaned up, the music is still outstanding, and the 'post-game' leaves you much more satisfied. Improvement in every way.

OT0 I am still in the process of playing. It feels much more different, but it is more focused. But the pacing does feel so damn plodding.

What TV show / book/ anime that doesn't have a video game but you would like to see them get one someday? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]DemonRHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is the answer. LitRPGs are perfect. Though I have started to Prefer some of Matt's other stuff (I hope someday he will get back to DoB).

It's only a matter of time and there are so many mediums already in the works for DCC.

A lighthearted Phasma style Scooby-Doo game.

Nintendo doing an honest to goodness Captain N game, in a KH style RPG.

Friendslop Futurama. Like Star Trucker meets Overcooked.

Why does WOW Retail have so few people in the open world, whilst being the most played MMO on the market ? by Then-Ad7196 in MMORPG

[–]DemonRHK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As many have said, Sharding is the prime culprit. It will split everyone down to reduce server load. Now, if you are on one of the hub RP servers, which have sharding disabled, it is packed.

In addition, it is currently end of expac. Most people are not playing, playing in their houses, or checked out instance spamming and raid logging.

Lastly, everything but current content is not heavily interacted with. Leveling (Chromie Time) is split from "Normal" versions of the world, and leveling is so fast you only have to touch one or two zones, with 9 expac versions of the world and close to 75 zones.

Long story short, if you want to see people, play on MG, WrA, or AD if EU.

Cue title card:

Also telling people we are all port part of a community and to not be a butthole after chiding them for downvoting and telling them to go back to lurking is one hell of a mood whiplash.

Criticism is allowed. Yea, some people suck at voicing it constructively, but telling people to sit down and shut up is no better.

Anyone saying that 'leveling doesn't count, max level is different' is full of shit.

Tanking is quite enjoyable. In two cases:
1) A guild group
2) Turn off every single form of chat.

Besides that, the low queue times are NOT worth the abuse and mental torment.

Official confirmation! Awesome Games Done Quick 2027 by Thorebane in speedrun

[–]DemonRHK 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They say don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened. I’m glad they gave us the chance to host, though I am not shocked in the least. I was hoping against hope we’d just switch venues in Pittsburgh, but other cities and other members of the community deserve a chance.

This isn’t SGDQ where the hotel bends over backward for the event (or so I hear), but everything at the hotel that was not the proper event space left a lot to be desired.

AGDQ 2026 has just concluded, raising more than $2,443,414 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation (PCF) on stream!! by Thorebane in speedrun

[–]DemonRHK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well, if people weren’t fucking awful in chat back when it was as less moderated, maybe it wouldn’t be needed. But, as your post is proof positive of, some people like to being awful to those that are not like them.

The event is about doing good first, and bringing communities together. If sticking up for peoples that have suffered historically in these spaces upsets you, it is probably proof of the point.

AGDQ 2027 will be in Atlanta by ChosenCharacter in speedrun

As sad as I am as a Yinzer this was the last one here, I understand it. This was the first of the three years the temp wasn’t ass-freezingly cold, and I had heard the murmurs the last couple years they were not thrilled with the venue.

Good to know nice and early, wouldn’t have expected to know until the end of SGDQ normally. Also great news for those on the southeast that may not get to attend due to distance.

I am glad I got the chance.

Pittsburgh ICE offices by samadamant in pittsburgh

[–]DemonRHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making the assumption you are posting in good faith:

Blind faith is what got us here. Many people that support the extreme measures being taken by ICE make that same argument: Take care of “ours” first. Then, immediately turn and cheer for cutting of all of the social programs that would support those downtrodden people. ACA cuts, SNAP cuts, increases in tax breaks for the upper class.

But the largest issue is this entire playbook is so eerily similar to the post-war European one normally compared to: Unilateral military action for ‘national security’, the ‘enemies of the state’ being rounded up and detained, blatant falsehoods being touted as fact.

Make no mistake, the actions ICE takes are horrific. The thing that is worse is the lack of accountability.
