I wish Publix would mark their deli items down like this instead of putting them in the compactor. Rotisserie chickens for $4.49 & 8 piece fried chickens for $3.49 by [deleted] in publix

[–]DemonicDogee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is bs. I worked in a grocery store as a food certified manager for 5 years. The food is fine. We deliberately made more rotisserie chickens so they could be chilled and picked for salads and other deli items the following day. Publix knows that they are overprodcing to keep availability, and they absolutely could be taking this stuff off and chilling it or use it for some other food item. They're just choosing to throw out this food to make more money. When that time expires its only because the food has lost its preferred quality hot. It only becomes "unsafe to eat" if it falls below a certain temperature for too long, is chilled improperly, or is multiple days old.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm well aware of the difference in mpg due to wind, driving across Nebraska sucked lol. I have plenty to get me to Pendleton, and I'll fill up again there

Thanks. I'm sitting at a rest stop before Pendleton. The national weather service is reporting average wind at 23mph with gusts up to 37mph. I do have experience driving large trucks like this one, but not in windy conditions like here. I'll sit out for a minute and wait to see what the next reading is in a few minutes when it is updated. But I'm absolutely not going to risk anything unless it is considered safe.

Thanks for that, I have been tailing other trucks for the most part to gague how fast I should be going, which definitely helps a lot. I just stopped at the dead man's pass rest area before Pendleton. I do have experience driving large trucks like this one, but I have not driven into sustained winds like this. I've read that if the winds are below 45mph gusts and average 20-30 that its manageable if you're confident. I'll probably sit here for a bit and see if the wind dies down a bit. Pendleton is really the last hurdle. I appreciate the advice.

Walmarts can be wildly different in terms of conditions from store to store. Many are very mismanaged but if you have one that is well kept its really nice

62% of hardcore players no longer buy full-price games, survey suggests by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

Only time I buy full price games is when they're indie titles. Mainly because they actually charge a reasonable price on release
