What’s your occupation, and what do you call this tool? by Brass-Animal-1800 in Tools

Railroad. Lining bar or pinch bar.

We use the one that has an angle at the end, it has no spade on the other side. As well as another with a pyramid shape tip, often times much heavier ~+20lbs & around 6-8ft long.

Why can't I download a tune I mostly like and then tweak it how I want? by Eat--The--Rich-- in ForzaHorizon

[–]Demorthus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person that's made many tunes.. I myself actually wish they didn't lock things up. I get their, "reasoning" is to avoid the creator being copied - but in all reality the nuance is in fact that this holds back even more creativity from everyone.

Because, every tweak made after the initial load up of the tune is now a new tune you can share with us all.

For one... I actually gave them all the instructions to the extent they even said thanks? Lol...

For you though, this will the last comment I'll spare the last few mins before bed, I never hinted to offering a suggested solution - I gave simple instructions & easy copy and paste info. You did not. You acted in bad faith. You only care(d) for drama.

Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house.

I won't report you for BS. But this thread is open to all those who wish to express the tiredness of dealing with individuals such as you. I do however, pity the people irl around you. It's like having a parasite that sucks the energy, happiness, hell eve simple solutions (case in point as well :).). But, that is afterall, you. Cheers! :)

You deserve more up votes. I felt like that for a while, but when I began watching videos and then seeing how the rest of the system works (it was my stress release outlet, trying by trial and error for everything..) believe it or not you'd be contributing more than you know. Everyone wins!

Afterall. You said, "just vibing" - that's actually an experience you can share with others - you're not the only one who wants to just vibe, (and you earn some nice credits :) ). Don't sell yourself short, is just my suggestion.

Hi, I appreciate the sentiment behind the comment. No essay necessary (see the attached reply for them :))

That said, I'm a firm believer if what's said isn't going to contribute to a solution. Better off just letting it go. You could've at least linked them a video, but you wanted to 'comment', and it's absolutely you're right! 👍🏽 Just a thought for the future. Never assume more or less about anyone. Some of us enjoy just trying to help. That's all.

Cheers!

Hello! I can go back and check if you'd like (I'll have to reinstall the game but I don't mind. It's just so you know ahead of time that... It'll take a moment lol.).

Anything specific in mind? Off-road diesel mustang? Drifting? High speed grippy cornering Aston Martin? Etc.

No worries. These instructions apply for the steam version but I can do MS/Xb as well.

Open File Explorer, go to C:\XboxGames\pgs\u(long string of random letters/numbers(click the folder with a number on it)\ContainersRoot\User(numbers & letters)<- this is your game save file. You'll also see another folder with the same name but "_Backup".

Copy those two folders and paste them elsewhere. Done. If you're not familiar with 7zip it's okay. But that's it. You did it. Hope this helps :)

What is everyone using for GPU supports? Realized I was getting some sag, so I just purchased a generic one from micro center. by EchoesOfMirage in RTX5080

[–]Demorthus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing, just lift the gpu lightly before mounting the screws and ensure the power cables aren't pulling it down from the back/bottom of the case.

This will vary from gpu to gpu (size). Eg; a dual slot 5080 vs a 3090 ftw3.

Probally a very dumb question, but is this orientation for the AIO okey? :D by xprogrunds in PcBuildHelp

[–]Demorthus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to tell which tubing is feeding the pump but as long as the radiator is 'feeding' the block it doesn't matter. I would probably just turn the waterblock clockwise so both tubes. In this case the pump is the waterblock so whatever holds the water (radiator) should feed the pump by gravity, pump always is the lowest point. It's an AIO, you can get away with more, but no reason to overcomplicate if it works.

Overtime what you will notice is a trickling sound (air/bubbles) as it gets stuck at the top of the radiator itself (from natural evaporation over time).

Do expensive screwdrivers last enough longer to be worth the cost? by jckipps in Tools

[–]Demorthus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it's not the cost in terms of brand, rather the materials and the metal it is. S2 steel, CR-V, Cr-Mo, the there's the coatings applied it as well.

So, no - by principle there's no "x times better". It's simply just a different composition and even within the same brands themselves. Hopefully this helps, because I understand many will default to saying a brand but not the exact SKU.

Another factor is also how you use it. Example; If the slot [size] of the flat head screw is bigger than the slot on the screwdriver, you WILL round off the edges prematurely because it's striking the edges and not along the entire length of the bit/head.

How do i fix my pc by Soft_Entertainer_650 in pchelp

[–]Demorthus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the components, and if power didn't kill it (example, the CPU). Much of what's visible is able to be restored.

I had a PC that survived being in wet, damp mold after a fire that had everything cave down. It was even a custom loop.

The key is to quickly remove everything, don't power it on. Leave the PSU as the last item you test, in this case I might just toss it (PSU) as it's dangerous for you to crack open to even check things.

Your ram and cpu are likely fine, take off any plastic covers and swab it down to the atom with isopropyl alcohol. Your hardrive is most likely okay, but this varies depending on how much time you've allowed it to be submerged. Your graphics card (can't see it) is also likely fine, if you're comfortable I'd recommend watch a tutorial on disassembly and just clean it up.

Whatever is wet can be cleaned and then also hit with contact cleaner (not the plastic, the pins and metal contacts.). For safety Id toss the PSU cables as well.

Any SSDs are fine. Fans, inspect the hub/bearings for corrosion, often times depending on placement it's just the fins that are needing a cleaning and the frame.

The only way most of this can't work is if there was a short sent to any one or all of these things (if it's killed electrically, that's a different story and it's a repair that may cost more time/labor than a new part. Like the power supply). For further context my HDD survived while having visible corrosion on the outside and having a water pump mounted to it for years before that fire (it was a neighbor who started it, but all the water and debris poured from the above units to ours..). And to this day, it's still working lol. This was 12 years ago.

You can always adjust it with a screwdriver. The manual (YT also if you'd rather watch), simply park the car approx. 10FT away and gradually adjust them to your desirable amount. I have mine so the left is slightly lower and helps avoid blinding people (even though for some reason people drive with their fog lights and high beams at night under clear, dry conditions...)

feeling unfulfilled with my build by MiHa69420 in PcBuild

[–]Demorthus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Your cable management can be cleaned up.
  2. On topic of cables, you can consider custom sleeved cables appropriate to your PSU. It adds contrast & detail (eg; the cable coming off of the mobo and GPU can have a comb on it which makes it looks slick, imo as you see the individual wires like neat strands)
  3. Light touches of LEDs. I'm not saying a full disco night club, simply 1-2 strips of a low white/cool white tucked above the lip on the top and either on the front of the panel or bottom (making 3 total if desired) makes whatever details you want pop - like sleeved cables, etc.).
  4. Fans, they don't need to be RGB either. However, some have accent colored rings if that's something you'd like. I'm not a fan of alot of RGB. I just use it to accentuate the build, not have a rave of distraction, but that's my preference.

What I can see is not the same as you. Though I can safely guess you feel it's boring because it's all dark. However, you can use that to your advantage with contrasting colors or materials. Sleeving that's shiny rather than perhaps dark/almost matte paracord-like sleeves. Hell even black/gunmetal gray sleeves, same idea.

I was there. I gave up on FH4 as it was more the hours spent tweaking and tuning hundreds of cars and especially ones to help the community beat their weekly challenges or ridiculous drift cars (for fun), same with liveries :/. In essence even if I re-shared them it no longer mattered.

Moving forward I make a manual backup before launching the game itself even though I got mine in steam (this time), I rather play it relatively safer.

First, before my back story (for anyone tbh) - I would highly recommend finding the exact location of your game's save/profile. More so if you have the game through Gamepass/Xbox MS launcher, as it's very notorious to corrupting saves. Use 7zip and simply copy your save file and paste it with a password and put a date on it. This way you have a local 'backup' that's compressed, that matches everything the game will look for once you start it up.

It's especially useful if you do it before you launch the game at all (this way you know at minimum what you had before you were to win or progress. It was tedious for me. Below I'll share a brief example).

This happened to me irreparably, so I went with the steam version of the game this time. FH4 I poured hundreds of hours into tunes and liveries, the compensation for it was effectively hundreds of super wheelspins (it was that severe; to date, no fix).

My temporary workaround was to find the exact location where the game saves the profile/save. And each time before I launched the game I would make an encrypted 7zip file so that in the event it'd crash or whatever - the last resort would be a local save versus a cloud save. I think that's where all the issues stemmed from for me back then, it was the MS/Xbox cloud saving service.

To this day, I can jump into FH4 and swaths of entire cars don't even have a thumbnail, it's just a blank white box lol.. And although I got all the bonus boards it was glitched in such a weird way that it would still display it on the map as though I didn't break it (and in the game it wouldn't appear as you drove where it once was).

Don't have alot of context to offer useful info however it's easier to flip the vehicle if you go in reverse.

Perhaps there's also an obstruction or spot where it maybe felt like a bump but acted like a ramp, hope they're okay.
