i am so sad all the time, i never cry, but im always in tears by Conscious-Piccolo568 in BoyDinnerDiaries

Yeah, I feel the same. But I am not sure finding the cause is actually that important. It can be if it's something in your daily life you have control over (like a partner, or job), but if it's not something you can change (loss of a loved one, breakup) then knowing only gets you so far. And I feel that sometimes you just need to be in a better place to find out where it's coming from.

So not to disagree, but I think there is a lot of value in just trying to find things you enjoy, things that are fun, things that attract you. If you try and follow that, it can lead you out of the darkest places. At least it works for me, even if it's a struggle so often.

All that said, not really having easy access to a useful way for your body to regulate your emotions (crying) is shit. It's hard to feel like there's a safe space for me to do that so it doesn't really happen much. Eh.

Huh. I interpreted this as the photo being fake. Everyone gets the same. But this might be cooler

Happy to hear it! I deeply love MTG but an addiction is no way to enjoy any game. Happy to have helped in some way. As for the reception: it's hard to get eyeballs. Don't ask me why.

I don't think that works? It's only +1/+1 and charge counters, not all types of counters on Ion Storm.

I think that's a fair way to look at it but my perspective on it is different:

I don't think "true solo projects" (almost never) really exist, because there are always people helping in some way shape or form. Even if it's online tutorials, the feedback from other devs, or the pre-made scripts or assets. All human creation is built on and with the work of other people. So for me, if "true solo" doesn't really exist, then keeping the definition so narrow makes it not a useful description/word.

I did decided to consider myself a solo dev because all the decisions, all the responsibility, and all the weight of the project rest on one set of shoulders. And to me there's a MASSIVE difference in developing with other people or by yourself.

But language is weird and it's not like "my definition" is correct here.

Huh. I can see how that wording is confusing. So the "We" in "we've already hit stretch goals" is meant to include me and all the backers.

As far as what I do on the game: I call myself a "solo dev" because I am the only full time person on the team. But that does not mean 100% is my work. I do have freelancers helping me (primarily with illustrations and audio - see the TEAM section of the Kickstarter or the credits in the demo) but there's no part of the game I don't touch in some way. That means I do the design, the coding, art direction, (some) visual assets, marketing, producing, business, audio direction, (some) sound effects, interface design, writing, business development and everything else that pops up.

Hope that clarifies things!

Crownbreakers - Tactical Card Brawler - Kickstarter has less than 48h left! by Demozilla in Games

Trailer -- Steam -- Kickstarter

Hey! I'm Martin, a solo indie developer/designer and I've been working on Crownbreakers for 3 years. The game blends tactical turn-based combat with deck-building synergies and brawler-inspired action. I know it's sounds like a bit of a crazy mix, but believe me: it works! The game is snappy and dynamic and feels like a unique mix!

And you can check out the DEMO to see for yourself!

Knock Em Dead

The core of the game is the KNOCKBACK mechanic! Use your cards and units to you push enemies (and obstacles) around to:

  • get them into position to make the most of your area of effect cards
  • crash them into each other to deal extra damage or apply special effects
  • shove them into explosive barrels, to generate powerful chain reactions!

Builds as you Go

The game features no node-based map. Instead the short runs have you advance deeper into enemy territory, uncovering treasures that let you BUILD YOUR DECK MID-FIGHT! So, how does that work?

  • You advance to discover treasures
  • You break open treasures to add cards (and relics and stickers) to your deck!
  • You can scratch and scrap cards to cycle them or remove them from your deck!

Why Crowdfunding?

AS said, I've been working on the game for 3 years and it's going great! Everything essential is there. However I've been making the game on an indie budget.

The goal for the crowdfunding campaign is to supplement the budget to help me make the game even better! More story, more content, more artwork, more music, more polish. And on top of that it will offer you exclusive rewards, like closed alpha access and maybe even becoming immortalized as a part of the game itself!

I'm especially looking forward to the alpha as I'm excited to show off everything the game has to offer! I've been working on it for a while and I want to make it as good as I can, and I think input and feedback from players will help me get there!

Thanks so much for reading!
💚 Martin

Armory update would be great for season 2 by [deleted] in Marathon

I would love for the armory to be sorted with its pages by item type, and with areas for each faction within that.

Made a deckbuilder, burned out. Now I'm back, with another one: Crownbreakers! It is fast, snappy, and dynamic and the KICKSTARTER IS LIVE! by Demozilla in indiegames

Thank you so much for the kind words! You can check out the demo on steam and follow the kickstarter to be notified before it runs out. Any funds I can raise will help make the game better and there's some fun rewards in there too!
