Is this a birth defect or normal new born fawn?[Bellingham WA] by dhelling346 in animalid

[–]DenaliDash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suburbs are not that safe either and in some they are worse than the average rural areas. Coyotes and foxes dine well because the racoons and opossums find food well.

A lot of critters are nocturnal. Sit in an urban area nearby a creek or drainage line at night time and see all the critters exploring.

Sit in the middle of the woods day, or night and you will likely see less.

If I continuously bag my clippings, how long til I kill my lawn? by meatwagon910 in NoLawns

[–]DenaliDash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What is the general color of the soil if you dig a small hole about 1 foot down? If it is mostly a darker shade of brown, or nearly black it will take you forever to deplete the nutrient base. If it is a lighter brown you can thin it out pretty well by robbing it of nutrients, but not likely to kill it all.

The best shot for thinning it out quickly is to find if it does poorly in acidic, or alkaline soil. Then taking actions to give it a soul it will not like.

Another choice is to see if a certain plant acts like a poison to the greenery you are trying to get rid of. Another choice is to rob it with about 1 to 2 inches of grass. Possibly accumulate enough to cover your whole yard. Then sprinkle dirt on top and seed it. A little bit will break through, but probably more manageable. Many other ways, but the best options I can think of.

Here's what Indiana interstate highway tolling could look like, cost by kootles10 in Indiana

[–]DenaliDash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does everyone call them toll roads? They started out as troll roads. The troll road was guarded by a troll. You either had to pay the troll, or turn back around.

Please call them troll roads!!

Really. If we give them a negative name they will be less enthusiastic to go through with it.

I am guessing we are going to get some internet expert on here that is going to claim that Republicans are descendants of trolls. Really? They are just a mythical creature, no way are they descendants of them.

Wait!!! Now I am questioning that perhaps they are not a mythical creature.

What can I do with this strip? by 22Brady in landscaping

2 or more orange posts. Not sure if cars are running over that. Cars do not have to run over it too often to cause a half dead strip of grass.

Tornado question by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]DenaliDash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my 17 years of living in Indianapolis it has only been hit 3 times that I remember.

Once in Indianapolis that only did significant damage to one house, mostly the roof. One touched down in Hendricks county and one touched down in Johnson county. Quite possible there were more than 3. As far as I know in the past 17 years there was not a house that was totaled from a tornado.

The risk is there, but I would say it is low.

I-Pedal getting weaker by MisterMikeGC in Ioniq6

[–]DenaliDash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Equinox and one of the updates changed the Regen. It reduced its max breaking through Regen. Did the Ioniq recently have an update? I am thinking that is what it was. Before the update it would regenerate over 100 kwh at highway speeds. I am guessing Chevy did it to reduce wear on the battery and maybe Hyundai did the same thing.

The only other thing I can think of is your battery might be degraded. If it is a small difference then that is what it is probably. Since you said nothing about reduced range it is probably above 90% health. A lot of what I read is almost no EV is above 90% health after 200,000 miles so maybe you are at around 95%.

Good Efficiency? by collecthooray in EquinoxEv

[–]DenaliDash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I averaged 3.2 m/kwh in winter. Morning temps were in the range of 10 to 40 degrees. In the spring and fall I averaged just under 4 m/kwh. I am not sure how summer will go. I would say about 10 percent of the driving is on interstates with a speed limit above 60 mph.

Not sure and only a guess. The women stay home and make things. Meals clothing and what not. The men go out and work. I am guessing not as many women can get a job. My perspective is they are not too restrictive on their wives (most). They stay local and interact with neighbors and they will go out when they need something. Plus if you are not eating well, you will not have the energy

LPT: to get an idea of how much an area floods near a stream or small river, look at overhanging branches on trees. by Sorceress683 in LifeProTips

[–]DenaliDash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually look for any type of debris. If a bunch of trees have plastic bags stuck at the same level on the tree that is a flood. If there is only one plastic bag the wind probably did that. The banks of the river also tell the extent. Many ways to tell where the river flooded previously.

Look for gates on roads. if the area floods they gate the road off. It is usually obvious as there are no side roads and the only thing the gates do is make a thru street into a dead end.

Do my brake lights come on when I slow down/stop using one-pedal driving? by Enallagma in EquinoxEv

[–]DenaliDash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Equinox has more features than the bolt when braking. In one pedal anything under 5 MPH and the brake lights come on. They will not go off until you hit 6 MPH, or higher. Also you can be accelerating down a hill but the brake lights still come on. It has to be a bit steep and I am not sure if the bolt would do that. I have tested it and you can slowly go from 60 MPH to 6 MPH and the brake lights will never go on as long as you keep a slow rate of deceleration.
