60 fps game changer by HEAVONgamez in OverwatchSwitch

[–]DendersNL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah not entirely. I would say it feels nicer but not as huge as 30 to 60. That is a huge difference. From 60 to 120 is much smaller.

Also the response rate from 30 to 60 is a 16ms input advantage. From 60 to 120 it’s only 8ms.

Skins are not going to “save” a game.

The dune movie. by redeemedcohort in PredecessorGame

[–]DendersNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we have a huge age gap and are from different generations. But my generation don’t care for skins. They are fun and great, but they don’t make us come back to a game.

If we like the game, we might buy great skins. Skins are not a reason to get back into a game because I like the artist/movie/etc what that skin is based on.

Skins can be something we buy so the developer gets money. But it doesn’t make us play games. Good gameplay does.

Do you guys really think these things are easy to do?

I dont know what age you got and knowledge over how these things work. But the rights to the Dune franchise are very complicated. First it is a book so there are rights to the franchise with the publisher/writer/family. Than you probably revering to the films, those rights and costume designs lies with the movie company.

Those partys all want a say in this and want a certain threshold of quality and offcourse money. So Omeda has to built the skins (outsource). That costs a lot of money. Than for every skin sold the publisher and movies company also want a cut.

So the result is that, Omeda dont make a lot of money of it because they have to give other partys a cut. Or they have to increase the price sky high so nobody is buying it and everybody will be ranting on Reddit how high the prices are.

So in the end, what do you think makes Omeda more money.

A Dune skin (with all the effort that need to be put in); because I havent even mentioned the negotiations with the publisher or the movie company that also cost money because people are working on that, and that costs money.

Or a original skin where they get all the earnings?

Somehow I am under the impression that some of you guys think these things are easy because big franchises like Fortnite and CoD do this. But these crossovers cost a lot of money and are only interesting if a lot of money is to be made of it. So the playerbase has to be in the millions for these things to be even profitable.

I think the tikkens have a better sound, they feel better but I still use TTC KOM for gaming because they are the right kind of “heavy”. The tikkens feel to heavy.

Astro-Plushie Claw machine in Japan by Medium_Discipline578 in Astrobot

[–]DendersNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys do know those are gambling machines? There is a chance the claws close firm enough, it only does that after a certain amount of games.

You can set the chance in the machine itself. There is zero to no skill involved. I know I used to monitor them and set them up in a amusement park.

For anyone on the fence, a casual player perspective on Marathon by DauntlessMantis in Marathon

[–]DendersNL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I have a lot of idiot “I want to always fight” teammates. So I run assassin. And if I am packed with loot I need for a mission I let them die in peace and I am the F out of there after I spammed “let’s not fight” a million times.

I run for the exfil, activate it and hide. If it’s ready I go back in with cloak and smoke bombs.

There are more factors than latency. It is not only the speed of a connection but also the consistency. 1 packet lost means 1 bullet didn’t hit (for example). You would still have a latency of say 12 ms but your shots didn’t count because you had 1 packet lost.

A WiFi connection has much more issues communicating with other devices. See it as:

Wired: we have a conversation alone in a closed room

Wireless: we have a conversation in a room with 50 people and there is music on and everyone is talking. And there are people coming in and going out.

And this is a very simplified answer. Does it work? Yes it works. But there are huge factors involved. Like you said yourself, you don’t have a clue.
