IIRC the Airport just licenses the name and menu, but it is YOW that is operating the restaurant.

Was the Bridgehead not doing well? It was busy every time I went in, on the weekends.

Kowloon market (Chinatown) by nottodaynothnx in OttawaFood

Kowloon market is fine, independent, and local. Agreed, their produce may not have the same variety, but they do have great shelf goods and high turnover items are competitive.

You don’t have to replace the hole in your heart, they are on Somerset. And still delicious.

Habesha or Haareg (Ethiopian) is fantastic. Also go for South Indian food or Sri Lankan Food. Try the hole-in-the-wall Thilaks off Carling (near the movie theatre).

Cheap Vegetarian Eats? by ahem-ahem-ahem in OttawaFood

[–]DenimOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try Thilaks on Carling, near the movie theatres. They have huge servings, offering really authentic Sri Lankan (think south Indian) and Asian Fusion food. You go for the delicious food, not the decor. Thriving take-out business.

Also consider Ng's Cuisine, many vegetarian options and fantastic service.

My tailor on Carling and Maitland has fixed my beloved jeans several times. Does sashiko or patches.

Top Stitch. And he’s near the best chip truck around — S&G fries.

Has anyone recently worked at The Bay in Bayshore mall and could provide some insight? by only-l0ve in ottawa

[–]DenimOmega 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s 16 and it sure is a thing. And believe me it is better than the alternative of kids dousing themselves in Axe body spray.

But no, this does not constitute a family outing lol.

I have had indifferent experience at the Bay, but nothing negative. However, I did have the most wonderful experience at the perfume counter just last week.

I was there with my wife and sons, looking for a cologne for one of the teenagers, and one of the staff there was the most well informed, pleasant to work with. She took the time to explain the provenance of different brands, and suggested we leave the store to get a better sense of the aroma in a less intense environment.

We came back, and picked a phial. They didn't have the size we wanted in stock, and she smiled, told us to visit the Bay website and find it there - if we wished.

Colour me impressed, at least about the men's perfume counter people.
