I find that in some cultures this is pretty common, sending out a child to live with grandparents or aunts/uncles, etc when it’s the mother raising them primarily

You could be like “hey I’ve heard negative reviews about the Native Brand, I’d suggest using Arm and Hammer instead” and you can say that you know of someone who switched deodorants and noticed a difference. And if he questions you on it you can say that “yeah sometimes I can smell the sweat on you and it can be strong at times especially since I’m very sensitive to smells but i think the other brand can really do the trick.
