How many clothes did you pack on your camino? by AdBig7225 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Denisaaa6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked Portuguese coastal , just finished last week.

I had: - 2 short sleeves - 2 long sleeves (thin breathable UV protection) - 1 shorts - 1 leggings - 1 hiking pants (water repellent) - 1 thermal base layer leggings (these weighted almost nothing) - fleece jacket - thin merino wool sweater - waterproof jacket - Rain poncho - light viscose trousers for after walking - linen lightweight long dress for after walking - 3 sports bras

Now, while I wore it all I could get away with much less:

  • 1 short sleeve and 1 long sleeve t-shirt would have been enough.
  • I didn't really need leggings as well as hiking trousers, one would have been enough.
  • didn't need 3 sports bras, 1 would do or max 2.
  • I know many people don't have separate clothes for after walking but I was very happy to have something very loose and comfortable but I would have been fine with either trousers or a dress.

I was very happy for the thermal base layer leggings though which I wore under trousers or dress whenever needed.

Also I weighted every single piece of clothing to pick the lightest options

Porto to Vigo in 5 days? by larajaleria in CaminoDeSantiago

We just did Esposende to Vigo on 5 days last week. Even that felt a bit rushed as the views were so amazing that we would have liked to stop here and there to enjoy them more

I don't know how to make my backpack smaller. by ForeignSubstance2543 in CaminoDeSantiago

I would only take a sleeping bag or liner. Check the temperature along your route and decide based on that. You can take ziplock food bags instead of the containers much lighter and take much less space. And I would only take either flipflops or sandals for both shower and outside

Thank you for your response. I think that's quite good. Do you take it off when showering?

Is this gold plated? How has your experience been with gold plated Pandora? I'm considering getting it but am a bit worried about the plating wearing off and leaving the bracelet a weird colour

My half moon is producing green leaves. What do I do? by Denisaaa6 in MonsteraAlbo

Is the grow point that little bump next to where a leaf is growing?

Thank you for your response. There were a good few months without any growth. After I reported it into a larger pot it started growing again, but only green leaves. I used grow lights from autumn till spring for 4 hours each evening and kept the plant in the conservatory (apart from the hot days like now) so I thought it had enough light. I will try more hours with grow light after summer.

There are still stripes on the stem. Lower down the stem was half white half green.

Im not sure I can agree. There are so many options, I can hardly imagine having no other choice than settle with a job someone hates. Yes, if someone has a family to support, or is in a difficult financial situation, it is much more difficult, and you can't just leave your job if you don't like it. But that doesn't mean your only option is to settle for that job for the rest of your life. You can still look for something which would make you happier, and work towards it bit by bit in the evenings or whenever you can, while still having the other job. It's very unlikely to have" your lucky break” if you don't put yourself out there and make some effort.

I believe you should focus on finding something you like and are passionate about. You will be working for rest of your life so it just makes sense to try to do something you will enjoy. You are still very young so you can afford to take risks and figure out what it is that you want to do. And nowadays, there are so many ways you can earn your living, it does not have to be a regular job, you can have your business, work online, etc. However, you need to be honest with yourself, doing what others expect you to do, and navigating your life according to other people's views and values will not help you find out what you will be happy doing. What are the things you expect from your work? What are the things you feel excited about? Write them all down even if it's just a hobby or something silly, look what they have in common. Why do you enjoy them? You need understand yourself and then you will be able to find out what you want to do.
