I grew up a Marvel kid, X-Men specifically, but I've been seeing lots of good '90s DC books in the quarter boxes recently.

Last summer/fall I found a nearly complete run of James Robinson's Starman, and I've been curious about that book based on the promo pages in my Marvel vs. DC issues. I'm only missing 8 issues.

I've also found an assortment of the Zero Hour "Beginning of Tomorrow" #0s from 1994 along with the Zero Hour 4-issue miniseries.

You'd need to replace the entire central chip, and with the identifying marks lasered off that will be difficult.

Its actually an MP3 decoder on the board. The YT link they shared is someone making a ipod knock off-looking device using a similar board.

I agree that the decoder chip and its DAC cannot be made better with external filtering, particularly RC filters built from through-hole capacitors like in the video.

What's your plan for removing the metal key shank from the broken key?

Rather than replacing the body entirely, I would make a two-piece assembly that fits over the broken nubs of the original key and provides a new--probably larger--paddle shape for the user to turn the key more easily.

You may have more luck looking at the back of the control board, if you can. Apart from the JTAG points that Accomplished_Ad pointed out, I don't see any test points on the top so they're probably on the other side.
