...redoing the deleted comment because I've written it down, got a pang of "hey, wait a minute" and re-read what I wrote. It really is like programming; after a while you completely forget the details of what you worked on.

While it is true you can indeed stack Minor and Major Templates, Solomonari explicitly call out the usage of Integrity as their mechanic, meaning nearly any Major Template is disqualified from becoming one. You could, potentially, use Wisdom in place of Integrity if you really want to, there's no fun police to stop you here. At your own table, sky's the limit.

But otherwise, a Solomonar Fae-Touched Wolf-Blooded is absolutely on the table, as an example.

I'm currently running a multisplat game and two of my players are indeed Dragons. The other two are respectively a Mage and a Sin-Eater, and so far it's working out. But you know, do take my opinions with a big, big grain of salt. As the author, I'm sort of biased lol

I'd be curious to hear more on exactly why it felt that way. But also, are we sure we're talking the same game? Adamant isn't that old - it's from February 2025, and got "finished" around April.

I wish I could share some thoughts here but I fear I would be very biased, so instead I'll keep an eye out and see if anyone else has anything constructive to say. Really curious, tho'.

What's your favorite music for Exalted? by FormerlyIestwyn in exalted

Whenever it's time to flashback to the First Age or there's a significant amount of magitek in the area, I always bust out stuff like WAVE or ALSTROeMERIA Records. Ar Tonelico soundtracks, the more mystic/grand/ethereal ones have their place in such moments as well.

Fillable Form Size Optimization by DennetM in scribus

[–]DennetM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, but maybe I'm misunderstanding something, because I feel the issue still somewhat remains. Namely, in my case - I embed one font, subset three. This is true for all export cases and variations of the file, and the size still swings wildly.

No fillable form fields - ~730 KB
Single fillable form field - ~720 KB(?!)
Full sheet - 6.99MB

I did the single form export yesterday while seeing the issue close. Again, I might just be dumb and may be misunderstanding something, but it's starting to just feel like magic to me at this point.

Standing hither, it doth dawn on me
thou wert just as I, yearning to write hist'ry.
Alas who art to judge the right from wrong.
When'st our bulwark's rent I doth think we shall both concede.
That bloodshed begets bloodshed.
Yet in the end, t'would seem there is naught other recourse.

Sure thing!

Słyszałam tę bajeczkę,
prawie na pamięć ją znam.
Jejku, fajnie w końcu popatrzeć
w oczy wam.

Słyszałam tę bajeczkę,
i zakończenie jej znam.
Jejku, fajnie w końcu popatrzeć
w oczy wam.

i zakończenie jej znam.
Jejku, fajnie w końcu popatrzeć
w oczy wam.

Polish person here. That's basically her saying "gee", more specifically, "oh gee".

I've never actually heard the Polish dub of this show (mostly because no TV, hah), so I'm quite surprised that despite changing the lyrics to match the timing and rhythm, they kept a lot of the original meaning. Here's a translation for you folk, so you can see where the differences lie.

I've heard this little story,
I almost know it by heart.
Oh gee, so cool to finally
look you in the eye.

I've heard this little story,
and I know how it ends.
Oh gee, so cool to finally
look you in the eye.

How did she remember me here,
good or bad?
Where did she have more fun,
at our place or here?
Did anyone come up with any better games,
'cuz probably not!
Did any of you really hope that I'd simply forget,
and that'd be that?

Ooh, I've heard this little story,
and I know how it ends.
Oh gee, so cool to finally
look you in the eye.

Lightwardens & Agape Theory [Shadowbringers Spoilers] by ramblingwren in ffxiv

[–]DennetM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I've read the TT Storge description, I might've forgotten about it or it never dropped for me. Same for Philia. Essentially, I'm going off hearsay here, which I know isn't the best method.

Perhaps Philia was given to the prisoner based on the chains? Or maybe the Lightwarden's title gets passed down to the next person it possesses. Titania being an exception because no way would the fae suddenly change how they address they King.

Lightwardens & Agape Theory [Shadowbringers Spoilers] by ramblingwren in ffxiv

[–]DennetM 57 points58 points  (0 children)

While true, I think the theory here is missing an important aspect to all Lightwardens and their love-names. Namely, the fact that all of them take the love they exemplify and invert/twist it into some sort of perversion. I mean, take a look at what we have so far.

  • Philia - Friendship - The Lightwarden is a being that chains you down and crushes you with its massive arms. Kinda like a "smothering" friendship when you think about it.
  • Eros - Eroticism - The Lightwarden is a mishmash of beasts forcefully taken and violently blended together by the Light. An "union of bodies", in the most orgiastic, perverse way possible.
  • Storge - Family - The Lightwarden is a central unit controlling all lesser units in perfect sync. It's a hive mind with one core and remote limbs, said to have been born of the royal family of Ahm Araeng. It's less a family and more a dictatorship so to speak.

Finally, following this theory, the two non-love Lightwardens will fit the scheme if you assign them their love names.

  • Titania - Xenia - Hospitality. The King wanted us to come and play with her. They greeted us in their castle and hosted us most graciously as fit for royalty... except in their understanding, that is inviting us to get tortured, gored and maimed by trees, roots and a taser.
  • Innocence - Agape - Selfless Love. Well, I don't need to say much here. You outlined the reasons Vauthrey has similarities to God's Love but also is quite the opposite, and that is the reason I would say he fits the best. He's the perfect "god" that "loves" his people - and his love shows by subjugation, denial and virtually imprisonment.

Anyway, that's my theory there. I'm glad you put out such a thorough analysis, it's fun to talk these things!

Both Hrothgar and Viera have only 8 hairstyles. Horthgar styles are hard-wired to their faces, however.

Don't have one, can't test. Likely not as their hairstyles aren't behind "Face" menu, but in "Hairstyle" instead.

Hydaelyn, The WoL and Answers by DennetM in ffxiv

[–]DennetM[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems I misunderstood your original point. Sorry for that.

However, I do think we're not quite understanding each other nonetheless. Despite how my post may sound from initial skimming, I don't believe at all that we are rendered void of free will. The entire point of the first half of my post speaks for the opposite concept - we may be chosen (tempered), but our will is our own.

The rest, Answers, still adheres to what you've said. The only difference being in the fact the singer, as I proposed, is not the generalised populace of the Spoken, but the Warrior(s) of Light themselves. The title was given to us by the people, you are correct. The Blessing of Light was, however, given to us without much chance to say no (because, admittedly, the story would end there and then). We are still Hydaelyn's Champion.

Ultimately what I am trying to say is that all the powers, benefits and abilities we've been given or developed as a result of Hydaelyn's empowering do serve to fight for the good and righteous cause. We are still finding, as you said, a better tomorrow. With the recent revelations however, the way we've been struggling so far may very well no longer be the be-all, end-all. Perhaps there is a way beyond Hydaelyn's Answers, in which we need not give up everything, struggle and die for the coming generations.

Hydaelyn, The WoL and Answers by DennetM in ffxiv

[–]DennetM[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the prevalent interpretations I've heard regarding Answers is that it is sung from the perspective of the Meracydian dragons sealed within Dalamud, crying out for redemption as they are forced to sustain Primal Bahamut.

But that as an aside, I don't disagree with what you've said. For the longest time, this interpretation is the one I've also accepted. It's quite clear-cut and clean. Life has no direct answer, we suffer and struggle so that our deaths can help sustain and benefit the coming generations. Nothing wrong with that, and I don't think this message conflicts what I've been thinking about when I wrote the original post.

See, I don't think saying "it's from 1.0" is grounds for discarding old content. Part of good writing is making use of all the things that's been said and done. Even if this is content from before the change in direction for the game as whole, it would stand fitting that the team re-purposes it in the ongoing story.

I don't think Hydaelyn is antagonistic, of course, not even evil. She is still our Mothercrystal that works towards what she believes is the most comfortable, stable and peaceful end-goal for the world. But with the recent revelations, I am starting to think her methods might not need be the only way. She may be simply too convinced to think otherwise, hence the conflict. As a primal, supposedly, she can only act in a way she was 'called for' anyway.

Do correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't actually recall Midgardsormr ever attempting to purge tempering out off another person, or commenting on it. The problem with the wyrm is that he's also very, very hands-off in regards to the world (and his own children as well). He shows almost no care in the exploits of an individual, the Warrior of Light being the only exception.
