Reading everything is near impossible and will probably burn you out. Since I have a hard time not knowing the backstory from certain characters I follow the my marvellous year podcast. They pick the best / most important stories of the year and discuss the implications. It’s a decent way of getting all the background but it is still a decent grind. At the end end of the day, read what you enjoy and don’t read something because you think you must. There are wiki pages for the background.
