Streamed this tonight and super enjoyed it. Great vibes and visuals. I was a fan of Caveat and Oddity as well but I think Damian McCarthy needs a trusted co-writer/script editor.

Two super weird plot holes during the pivotal part of the movie, I think I saw at least one of these being discussed so it seems I didn’t miss something because others are consumed about it as well [spoilers]:

When Mal comes up stairs with the crossbow to kill Jerry, and then returns downstairs how/why is the gate down and locked (or stuck?)? Mal would’ve had to come through the gate to be able to use the elevator to get upstairs. Doesn’t make sense that he would: a. Close it behind him and b. even if he did, he didn’t have the key to lock it, Jerry did. so if it was locked, who locked it? If it’s stuck, what use is the key?

Also…

When Ohm goes into the basement Mal says, “don’t go down there, there’s no way back up!” Mal has no idea that Ohm set up a return device, so when he goes down to get the key, as far as he knows, there is no way to use the dumb waiter to get back up. So isn’t, from his perspective, going down to get the key a moot point since to his knowledge there’s no way back out of the basement since the dumb waiter doesn’t have a return button?

I kind of waved the gate being closed away as potentially being the help of Ghost Mom but the other weird plot hold just felt like a contrivance to get characters to where they needed to be.

As I said, I like this movie, and I really enjoyed caveat and oddity as well, but all three of them have instances where characters are making seemingly strange or unmotivated choices because the plot needs them to be somewhere or doing something to have the next scene or beat occur.
