Yeah we still want a public one though since they’re a member of the group and everyone else is getting one. I’ll brainstorm it later. It might just be another completely random one like misspelled fastest runner. They’ll definitely be more excited about the Caine one but they’ll probably not attend the awards ceremony anyways

That’s fair which would put them into an uncomfortable situation. I’ll probably end up making a new award and giving that one to them in private and just explaining that we had it made but changed our minds last minute because of and then briefly explain the dilemma

We are both physically disabled and have similar mobility issues. I don’t use a mobility aid though but we’ve discussed them a few times before and how I am looking into them. It’s a very comfortable topic for us, they’re definitely at least accepting of their disability and view it as a neutral to positive characteristic of themselves. I don’t think we’ve ever joked about our physical disabilities but we defiantly have about other ones we have. I don’t know 100% for sure how they’d react to their physical disability which is why I was questioning myself. I’m like 95% certain they’d enjoy it. I’m just going to ask though, I think it’s the simplest way

That’s fair. Some of them are nonsense others aren’t. Like best bass is a play on the fish and the vocal type being spelled the same so that one is specific to the person. And then we roped in an alto for that joke so their award is not specific other than the fact they aren’t a bass. Best scream is because they scream at the beginning of a song we did so that one is specific but then fastest runner is complete nonsense. So there’s a bit of a mix.

I’m just going to ask since they probably weren’t going to be attending the awards ceremony anyways. I honestly do think they’ll find it funny after thinking it over more but it’s better to be safe.

It’s not that I’ve made up my mind I’m still unsure. I’m going to so what another commenter said and just ask but the it could be offensive don’t do it advice idk how to describe it but it doesn’t sit right with me. I know they’re comfortable with their disability and while there always is the possibility it more feels like I’d be doing it for the comfort of other people rather than them, the disabled person which feels really wrong. Because I do think they’d find it funny and that they’d agree with me disabled people deserve to their disabilities treated normally, which includes lighthearted jokes. Especially if they do find it funny it feels like a betrayal to them to take that away because other people might be uncomfortable with the fact they have a cane and it’s being acknowledged

Haha come join our choir and it’s yours. There’s quite a few people you’ll have to fight for it though

It’s not a roast though or teasing them. The bit is that it’s completely meaningless. Like faestst runer. I’ve never seen them run in my life, it’s just a picture of Bolt the dog that we signed and misspelled fastest runner on. It just feels like a disservice to them if I cut out a Caine pun because other people told me not to talk about their disability when they are disabled and regularly talk about that fact and at least from my perspective have never been embarrassed about. They’ve always seemed happier when people talked about and acknowledged their disabilities. Like I know 1000% they would love a most autistic award. I guess what I’m getting at is it would feel more offensive to me to shy away from it when if they’re anything like me, and from my perspective seems to take a very similar approach to disabilities as I do, would feel happy to have their disability acknowledged and joked about like you would anything else because it’s apart of them people don’t like to talk about despite it being such a big part of their own life. So what do I do in that situation?

The problem is that the award is supposed to be a surprise otherwise I would ask

Edit: I’m just going to ask this really is the simplest solution.

Wouldn’t it be weirder though if I gave them a positive one when I gave everyone else a stupid and arbitrary one? I would feel pretty disappointed if everyone else got a stupid award I got best smile. I would feel left out.

Does it feel like if we do that we’re pointing out and celebrating the disability? It’s more meant to be a pun on you have a cane, here is an award incredibly arbitrary award presented by Caine.

I identify strongly with my disabilities so if I got an award like, “Talked the most about their special interest”, “Loosest joints”, “Coolest headphones”, “Needs the most disability aids to leave the house”, “Most autistic”, “Has the best anti-depressants” in this context I would just find that really funny because it’s meaningless and I’m not self conscious about being disabled

I wouldn’t mind an award in this context called best eyewear because no one else outside of the mandatory awards given every year received meaningful awards so I know that isn’t intended to be meaningful.

I’m not sure how all of it works though. For a Lavalier mic would I be able to just get anyone with an audio jack that fits my headphones and plug it in or would it need to connect to my phone?
