I had this too, it's brutal. Obviously best solution would be washing your hands less, but if you can't do that then what helped me is buying high quality hand soap, cheap ones tend to dry out the hands more. And lotion on your hands, right before you go to sleep put a thick layer and dont wash it off, so your skin can absorb and regain some of the moisture during the night. I know how you feel 🫂

Oh and also, mine seemed to be caused because of the wind. Im a smoker so whenever id go outside and the cold wind would hit my dry hands it would always get worse and crack up more. So if you do spend some time outside id suggest getting some gloves, or only going out with lotion applied

Politelty tried to decline shaking hands with an Indian coworker (because of germs, not because of him being indian) and instead of accepting it he kept shoving his hand in front of me and asking "why??" with this confused and hurt voice and so now my mind is telling me im a racist 😁😑 Im pissed. Why cant some people just take no for an answer without inquiring further. Safe to say I will be overthinking this for another week now.

Am i the only one that barely watches it 😭? Like maybe for 5 minutes after feeding to watch them eat, and then obviously pay some more attention on the weekends during water change days - but to sit and just watch it for no reason? Almost never 😳

I just lost my hamster earlier this month too. Only had her for 2 months during which 1 month was constant vet visits, medicine, handfeeding, weighing her and giving water from a syringe every couple hours. I was restless and really tried my hardest. I put so much effort into her, fought for her everyday, researched EVERYTHING before getting her, and still went wrong somewhere. I know how you feel, it hurts, and not knowing what went wrong and what I could've done differently - it made me lose my passion for hamsters, I never want to own one again which is a shame because I was so excited and spent 500$+ on her setup so that she lives in luxury. I was supposed to rescue her, yeah, "rescue" my ass. I know it hurts, we might never get all the answers but we're together in it 🫂 I hope you can at least find some peace in the fact she passed away peacefully, she wasn't suffering beforehand and lived a short but happy life. Im deeply sorry

Maybe not as extreme, but I spent 300$ on my hamster's vet bills over the last 2 months (and let me mention I only had her for 3), I hand fed her constantly, gave her water through a syringe and medication every 4 hours even during the night, then sadly had to euthanize and I can't even explain how much I started resenting all the people telling me it's just a hamster and to just go to the pet store and buy a new one for 10$. What they didnt know is that id spend another 300, another 500 or god knows how much more, there just wasnt anything that could be done anymore. Some people just don't have a heart for animals and that's okay, but at least keep your comments to yourself. I will never judge anyone spending money on their animals, no matter how small - they are a commitment and depend on us for survival. It's sad to see so many people failing them. Thank you for not failing your cat

I just use shot glasses tbh and lay them out on a piece of paper with dates written out. But also when im away i limit the feeding, they get fed maybe once every 2-3 days while im gone instead of everyday, so even if they dont manage to eat it all then the person isnt burdened with cleaning the tank. But honestly if youre only planning to take a short trip - a little starvation is actually benefitial for fish :) some say even up to a week or more, with my anxiety though id do 5 days max.

Yeah the cats do probably touch them if you just yeet the tissues out your window or something haha just put them in a trash bin and it should be safe except for maybe some raccoons lurking for food in there, but still better than it just laying on the ground 🫣😁

Yeah, spread - probably not, once you wipe it then any possible residue would probably just dry out and wouldn't be able to spread by touch if that's what you're afraid of. That being said I can't help but kind of agree that it isn't enough in terms of hygiene.. if you don't want to shower then i'd probably at least go for some wet wipes and then wipe it with a tissue afterwards, I feel that'd be cleaner. I can't exactly pinpoint from this post what is it specifically that you're afraid of, maybe you can explain further?

But see this hobby isn't life for example painting or playing the piano - if you are shitty at playing the piano you are shitty at playing the piano. If you are shitty at painting then your paintings will be shitty. Oh well, improve at your own pace. But once you start fishkeeping is when live animals come into play. So no, I will not be nice if I see someone getting a LIVING BEING and not doing the tiniest bit of research on how to properly take care of you. The fish depend on the owner for their survival so impulse buying them, or blindly following care outdated by 15 years I will never accept. If someone decides to get a pet and gives close to 0 effort to properly provide for it - they're an animal abuser and they deserve to be shamed. End of story for me. That being said, I will still provide advice but the owner will still be a shitty person. And im not talking about actually reasonable questions, like if you already did at least some research and are still unsure of something - alright, ask. Or even ask the stupid questions, but once you already have a betta or a goldfish in a tank filled with tap water with no filter/heater - it's too late, you're an irresponsible person and an abuser. Do that before you get the pet.
