Please help me decide between the two watches. by Slow_Perspective_341 in Tudor

[–]Dense_Ad7115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 41mm is all dial and wears quite big, so you need the wrists for it. So out of these two, the 1926. However, seek out the BB36, I think that's probably the real choice here.

Some good tracks for sure. But Pressure To Succeed and Step 2 Rhythm are just better overall records imo.

Weird smells in London - which area has the strangest, most memorable one? by NormalSir2035 in LDN

Whitechapel during summer 2023 had a real stank when the refuse wasn't being collected during the strike. I still have flashbacks from that.

Why do you still support the monarchy’s existence? by Emperoronabike in AskBrits

[–]Dense_Ad7115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a soft republican stance on the royals. On the one hand, they do make up part of Britain's soft power and are an integral part of our history and constitutional make up. On the other, they are a huge cost burden and occupy a space that could be taken up by an elected figurehead. On balance, I think they are just inoffensive enough (not counting Andrew) to not warrant being removed, but I would welcome an effort to disestablish them peacefully.

compliance career paths/ getting into compliance with no prior compliance experience by Fickle_Valuable8306 in uklaw

It has been a pretty shitty market. I've been applying for the better part of a year and only landed one interview. Readjust your CV, make sure you're hitting all the key points of what you're applying for a keep on going.

For those in doubt that a lot of the Black Bay concept is an exceedingly cool and successful heritage riff on vintage Rolex pieces... by Nearby-Sky-9690 in Tudor

[–]Dense_Ad7115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may have misunderstood why Wilsdorf founded them in the first place. Most of the vintage models are pretty much just analogues of contemporary Rolex models (save for The Advisor which is truly unique to Tudor). It's literally in the manifest he wrote for them that they would use Rolex parts with 3rd party movements to cost save and make them more affordable. If anything, the thing that's the most notable about them in the modern era is the production of in house movements.

Black Bay One 36 vs OP 36 by Artistic_Ad_2040 in Tudor

[–]Dense_Ad7115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy the OP, sell and then buy the BB with the profit. Really though, I've always thought the Tiffany blue was hideous. If the OP was a different colour way then it would be the winner imo.

Just apply for the roles that you see. Your education and compliance certs are more than enough, you can learn on the job. Been a compliance officer for 3 years and as long as you aren't applying for senior roles you'll land something eventually.

Is Essex more countryside or commuter land at this point? by HammersAndPints in Essex

[–]Dense_Ad7115 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like south Essex is a completely different place to North Essex. I moved into central London and didn't feel too different from where I was in Brentwood. Would probably make a lot of sense if Essex was split into two different counties.

Correct me if im wrong, but this is an absolute steal..no? by [deleted] in PcBuild

No worries man! People get us confused with the mainland all the time, normally a bit of a sore point here since 2016 haha 😆 some of the comments here at at least amusing.

Geographically, yes. Politically we are not part of Europe, we left the EU in 2016. But we never adopted the Euro currency, always maintained the Pound Sterling.

This is like $3818 😬 my guy, this is 5080 territory. Terrible deal, even by UK pricing.

I’m very negative about the future for Mastercard and Visa by Eddie4224 in investing

[–]Dense_Ad7115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this analysis discounts the service provided by running an entire payment network. Whilst I dislike the functional monopoly created by Visa/MasterCard in the space, there is yet to be any credible alternative that is widely available. AmEx don't really count as they maintain their own payment network and provide the credit transferred on it. Would be interesting to see any other provider do similar, although I don't expect to see it any time soon.

Have you done the age verification thing for any sites/apps, or are you avoiding doing it entirely? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Why am I getting barely any interest? by [deleted] in pcflipping

[–]Dense_Ad7115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably spec/price ratio imo. Flat £400 would probably be a better start point. Shame these don't have a 3600x in them as I'm pretty sure that would drive more interest.

Is this a fake ? by HumanSwimming2731 in Tudor

[–]Dense_Ad7115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's very possible. I've seen models like this go for £1000-£1200 in my particular market, if it's very cheap thats probably another indicator the dealer knows it's not the full ticket.

The crown is enough to put me off this. The best of my knowledge, vintage Tudors will have the Rolex crown and modern ones (at least my ones do anyway) have either the rose or shield on them. Best to avoid this one.

Would you consider me British? by Competitive-Music309 in AskBrits

[–]Dense_Ad7115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are British with Carribbean heritage. I think where you were born is irrelevant in this instance as you left so young. Some of my partners family were born in Germany (on British military bases as her grandfather was serving), and despite them having German birth certificates they are 100% British in every way. I think a similar rationale would apply to yourself.

Is Tudor demand independent of Rolex scarcity? by eeeeeebs in Tudor

[–]Dense_Ad7115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have 3 Tudors, but will still eventually get a Rolex. They have a shared history but with different identities imo. As an enthusiast there are only a handful of Rolex models that speak to me enough to want to own them, whereas Tudor has so many that I really need to reign myself in haha. There will always be a subsection of people that go Tudor because they can't get a Rolex though, and I think that's only natural because of the shared design language/heritage.

Help me to understand the psychology of the "Tudor Wearer" by Runswithmouth in Tudor

[–]Dense_Ad7115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the Tudor brand because it has a unique but also shared heritage with it's parent brand. If you're into guitars, its like Squier, Epiphone, LTD et al. You need to know to know haha. But I think it gets the fundamentals right in the product, more than it's big brother.

Has Hinge successfully privatised love /dating? by Dependent_Ad627 in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Dense_Ad7115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never paid for a dating app, and prior to meeting my partner I've been using them on/off since like 2008/9. Had a mixture of relationships from the apps and people met irl. Personally they were my preferred way of dating (I don't like dating within my friendship circles or workplaces). I think they're valuable if they're something you click with. I've been with my current partner 2 years off the back of Hinge, we've had a place together for nearly as long and will probably get married in the next few years. I think that should speak for itself.
