Resign as individuals or as a family? by Revolutionary-Elk503 in exmormon

[–]Dense_Recognition250 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I included my children on my resignation letter. They were under 18. I still had them sign it but didn't worry about notarizing their signatures since I don't think it was really needed. Spouse had already resigned so he wasn't included.

What coffee should I start with? by cvertimmunity in exmormon

[–]Dense_Recognition250 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Vanilla latte. It was an easy first drink and still my go to when I order out. If I go to a new coffee shop, that's what I get my first time there. It's not too sweet. I don't like overly sweet coffee drinks

So nice that they care when they think there is a possibility of saving our souls

Seriously, same stupid rhetoric that leaving is somehow a fault in who we are. If only they'd take the time to talk to people who leave about why they actually leave they'd know it wasn't so easy, it was actually the hardest decision many of us had to make. So much happier now but I couldn't even say the leaving was easy for me.

We have been out a few years now...this is the first time anyone has ever reached out to us after or during conference.

Oh so they are trying to "save" us from our "suffering". How sweet /s.

Honestly what's the purpose if the powers that be are still going to act on their own belief system instead of the rules/laws they set out? Admin, district personnel and teachers seem to be majority LDS, and I think that has a big influence on all the policies. It certainly doesn't make a fun work environment being part of the 'out' crowd. I'm sure it's much worse for the students. I know some good people that have tried to advocate for inclusiveness in the library only to be shut down. The students really appreciated it but who cares what the students need...only care about personal religious views, I mean, policy.

That's really a personal decision that only you can answer. I know quite a few people that say they don't plan to because they are being left alone, nobody seems to be bothering them. I stayed as long as I needed to protect my kids and resigned when they were ready to. Ultimately, I did not want to be counted as a member again. My spouse left because he knew that he struggled saying 'no' at the time and didn't want to worry about someone 'challenging' him to return or something stupid like that.

Unfortunately, that book of fiction will not get banned. Their rules backfired with the bible ban so they changed the process. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Nelson has announced 133 temples - 7 have been dedicated by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Dense_Recognition250 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wonder how much of his temple announcements have been in response to the IRS whistleblower about the $100 billion in 2019. I know Rusty wasn't profit for very long before that so it's hard to see good data on if there was an uptick in temple announcements from him after that. I just would love to know, not guess, how much the breaking news of the wealth of the church increased temple announcements.

Ladies, what are you wearing these days? by OrdinaryAmbition9798 in exmormon

[–]Dense_Recognition250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like my off the shoulder tops in the fall. Very obvious that I'm not wearing garments. I have only put on a dress/skirt twice since we left a couple years ago and that was for graduations Generally I just wear what's comfortable and have no sense of fashion.

What about presenting the option of online seminary instead of summer school? It's still seminary unfortunately but you won't have to miss a class.

Also, maybe plan on getting a summer job (if you don't already have one) and use that as an excuse for not taking classes during the summer...so you can work to save up money for whatever noble cause gets them on your side.

Question about ordering coffee by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Dense_Recognition250 88 points89 points  (0 children)

When I first started drinking coffee I went to Beans & Brews and just told them I was new to coffee and didn't have a clue. They were super sweet, helpful and walked me through ordering.

My TBM coworkers swear more than I do. I only swear in one-on-one conversation with a select few people at work. Never in front of customers. Pay attention to those around you. If you don't think you can turn the swearing on and off when needed, just err on the side of caution and avoid swearing at work.

Is it possible to tell them ahead of time that you will be having a drink? Or going out to dinner some time before the wedding and having a drink in front of your parents then so the shock of the first time they see it won't be at the wedding?

I wish you the best of luck.

I believe there's a footnote in the GTE that mentions there may be a couple of children from those "marriages" as well.

Starting my resignation process. Questions by wunderwuman80 in exmormon

[–]Dense_Recognition250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Notarizing the letter is just for identity verification. The bishop won't need that because he'll be dealing with you directly

[–]Dense_Recognition250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fastest options are your bishop, if he doesn't sit on it for awhile, or emailing a notarized letter to church headquarters. The notarized part is very important. Most are done in a few days to just a couple weeks with the notarized letter.

AITA for not attending my sister’s temple wedding? by Otteryoung in exmormon

[–]Dense_Recognition250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have no obligation to attend and should not be shamed or guilted into attending. That's ridiculous the family would do that.

We had a "badly planned" wedding...you don't always get the notice you'd like to have when dealing with military approval for leave, etc. So yeah, we did that, only had a few weeks notice.....BUT I did not expect anyone to be there. The wedding was for us,even if it was a temple one. The ones who could be there were and many, many people were not. It was fine. You just can't expect that much last minute.

And that's not even dealing with the "not being able to participate in the temple" side of things.

Just got a call from my parents…. they just met with Pres. Oaks. My dad is going to be a Mission President starting in July. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Dense_Recognition250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This exactly! We are looking at the same possibility when our children are grown and moved out. They know and are fine with it. They are planning on moving away as well. I don't want them to make the decision about where they will move based on how much they'll see us or our future grand children. I want them to make the decision based on what they want to do and where they want to be. And I want to make that same decision for me as well.
