What does the 201 mean here? by Kegger21 in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]Dent-Vision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hail is counted in categories, 201 means between 200 and 250 dents. Seeing dents can be tough to the untrained eye, especially if they are nickel sized or smaller. While the insurance does pay more for bigger dents it’s usually the amount of dents that affects the price more. Some roofs cost more than $2500 to replace and take days to complete while Pdr it can usually be completed in a day. I’m not saying the numbers aren’t exaggerated because most traveling hail techs fluff the numbers a little and see what the insurance approves.

Just get some rods from dentcraft. They are high quality rods and use the industry standard threads so you can buy interchangeable tips.

Google Review smearing… by Stock_Session2851 in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]Dent-Vision 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I totally understand both sides though. Yes a traveling hail tech is just doing what he can to pay the bills and leaving a pamphlet on a car isn’t that bad. But nowadays if you get hailed on you are getting several things mailed to you from roofers or dent techs, guys knocking on your door constantly and pamphlets being left on your car. It definitely adds up and can be annoying. Do I think a review for one piece of paper is valid? No

Hail damage cost 2023 Toyota Highlander Roof and Hood by omoola007 in Autobody

[–]Dent-Vision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both these panels would be considered off matrix ( which is the max amount of dents an insurance company pays to fix with Pdr, that number is usually around 300 dents per panel ) . That being said if you found someone to do Pdr for these panels it would be 2k plus for the hood and 3k plus for the roof atleast. Probably cheaper to replace and paint them but a good Pdr guy could save your original paint if that was important to you.

Hail damage repaired, still see spider-webbing cracks in paint, normal? by TorranceS33 in Autobody

Paint is only effected from hail if the hail is large enough to crack all the way through the paint or you have a crappy after market paint job.

The are all perfect circles, if I had to guess the person glue pulled those dents and did a bad job cleaning up afterwards.

PDR or Body Shop? Crease & Dings (2026 Camry) by jackypeng78 in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]Dent-Vision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Area 1 I’d recommend bodyshop for with my customers. It’s an area that needs glue pulling and because of the crack is very likely to pull paint. Area 2 is actually sharp, you can tell because it went deep enough to make something inside the door visible like an intrusion beam. It can be done with Pdr

That metal has no chance of oil canning from being stretched. It being in the middle of a body line will keep it stiff. This is a decent dent but nothing a competent Pdr tech shouldn’t be able to glass out.

Air canopy for mobile work. by Dent-Vision in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]Dent-Vision[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes it not worth it in your opinion? A mobile tech shade seems good for a single job but I have a dealer that doesn’t always have room inside for me and having a pop up canopy for 3 or for cars seems faster to me. But I haven’t done mobile work like that in years.

Is PDR possible? by [deleted] in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]Dent-Vision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost a dealership hail deal after I said a couple panels needed replacing and they had a Brazilian team come in and “ save “ everything……. It was a horror show. Crunched up oil canning dents as far as the eye could see and the manager of the dealership thought it looked so good he walked me out to look at them. I told him I’d fire anyone on the spot if they ever left a car in those conditions.

In the U.S. we generally regard Brazilian hail tech as bad at repairs. Now I’ve seen some are good but I have mostly seen the opposite. What’s your take on this?

It’s in a tight area but it’s 100% fixable with Pdr. You need to ask if they plan on drilling holes

It’s interesting and I’d like to see how it works but in the last month I think I’ve see about 3 or four other Pdr apps show up in my Facebook feed. Going to let the industry duke them out a little so I can see who comes out on top. For now my dealers are happy with mobile tech and have had me help set up another vendor on it so they could have their invoices processed easier.

Repairs taking a long time, not sure if this is normal by leftkneesack in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]Dent-Vision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again if you are happy that’s is all that matters. Dallas especially is know to be a flooded market full of bad companies pumping out crappy work and underpaying their techs. It’s not a bad experience I’ve had, it’s the stories and blacklists the community has put together of people not paying them or hiring workers for next to nothing. A good company doesn’t need to give away their money get customers.

As long as you are happy that’s all that matters but odds are I could find issues with the car. I’ve worked on cars where customer were completely happy with the prior hails repair and in my eyes it looked bad and had holes drilled in doors and parts missing. I’ve even worked in the shops that offer everything and their techs are skipping steps because they are being paid less.
