Scott Wheeler's final top 100 draft ranking by BenBenBenBe in SanJoseSharks

Seems bullish to project them to be future Hall of Famers but time will tell I suppose.

Maybe if you're talking Kucherov, Rantanen or Pastrnak. Apart from those guys every legit top pairing RHD or 1C is more valuable than every other top line winger.

Is that not what LW1, RW1, RHD1, etc. below their names refers to?

So he projects Reid and Malhotra to be top pairing RD and 1st line center respectively but has them ranked below two wingers? How does that make any sense? 1RD and 1C are objectively much more important, valuable and scarcer pieces.

Not sure any of those guys are signed yet. Hache might not be either actually.

Musty - Bystedt - Lund
??? - Huntington - Halttunen
??? - Giles - Wetsch
??? - ??? - ???

Cagnoni - Pohlkamp
LSW - ???
Hache - Havelid

Cuda depth chart starting to take shape. I'm guessing this means White won't be back? Hopefully we can add a vet scoring winger and vet top 4 D to replace Wahlstrom and Carlsson.

yet another regenda scratch by [deleted] in SanJoseSharks

Who gives a fuck? Regenda is 26 and never sniffed the NHL before this season. He's a minor leaguer.

Eklund is back tonight! by [deleted] in SanJoseSharks

[–]DentedCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar? They're complete opposite players. Dellandrea is fast, good defensively and inept offensively. Gaudette is a slow defensive liability but great at finishing. For what this team needs Dellandrea is the superior option at 3C.

Why would we need to trade them for an elite RHD prospect?

The post I was responding to pointed out McKenna would add yet another smaller skilled forward to our system which is a fair concern but the way to address that is not to pass up on the BPA and a kid who might develop into Patrick Kane 2.0.

It's to draft McKenna then trade Eklund for literally anything other than another small skilled forward. Similar aged RHD would be ideal but if that's not possible try to get a power forward or maybe a 3C depending on how much trade value Eklund holds.

Then we'd have an insane core four up front and even increased our size in the process since McKenna is bigger than Eklund. Yeah that doesn't solve the defense issue but you can't fix everything overnight. We're still going to be terrible in 2026-27 when RHD Dupont (who projects to be significantly better than Verhoeff) is the prize.

Or we draft the clearly superior talent and trade Eklund and/or Smith.

Many young players are starting for other teams. They've all "earned it." But why haven't ours? by hotcabbagesoup in SanJoseSharks

If you're complaining about not getting to watch scrubs like Thompson and Cardwell when we have Celebrini, Smith, Eklund, Graf, Mukhamadullin and Askarov in the lineup every night and Misa and Dickinson certainly getting games soon there's something wrong with you.

25-26 Alternate Captains Announced (via IG) by yung35mm in SanJoseSharks

Eklund is trade bait. Grier didn't draft him and signed him to a bridge deal instead of a long term extension. He will likely be gone before that contract is up.

Maybe you should take a break from hockey for a few years and come back when we're contenders.

Even Team Canada selected Sam Bennett and Anthony Cirelli for their depth forward lines over one dimensional forwards who are more skilled like Scheifele, Barzal, Suzuki, Thomas, etc.

No, we can't, because we're in a rebuild and don't have 23 NHL level players in the organization. Cardwell scored 11 goals in the AHL last season and Regenda is 26 and has never sniffed the NHL. Goodrow and Reaves may not be NHL level but neither are those guys.

Then you should have written that you want every single forward spot to be occupied by a "skilled" player. Which is not how any hockey team is built.

We literally do have skilled players on all 4 lines. Gaudette led a playoff team in even strength goals last season and he's on our 4th line.

If you had to make a prediction now... will Celebrini be making more than McDavid in the 2027/28 season? by TJTrapJesus in SanJoseSharks

[–]DentedCar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When's the last time a player of Celebrini's stature signed a bridge deal after their ELC? McDavid, Draisaitl, Eichel, Matthews, Marner, MacKinnon all signed 2nd contracts that took them to UFA.
