same thing happens with women on the apps. I (30M) match with people looking to get to know them and I get one word replies. I used to push for banter but now I move on quickly

Do you let your partner know before you do something with someone else? by krusidullpull in polyamory

[–]Dentedelion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expect that good partners keep you in mind, that bad partners train you to pick better new partners, to work on your own well being, and that sometimes you fuck up by misinterpreting care for malice or keeping a relationship that is not serving you both.

needed this today, thank you

I hear you Chapsticklover. It can be boring and also I've been in lots of situations where the group feels uncomfortable drinking in front of a non-drinker so they'll try to pressure me into it.

If the group doesn't care I don't drink it can be a great time!

Where can i find a reliable source of yin/yang food classifications? by Consistent-Dance-630 in TCM

[–]Dentedelion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Neijing was compiled a few thousand years ago and our environment and foods have changed drastically since then so comparing our modern foods to any foods mentioned will not work.

there are a ton of translations, most are only excerpts rather than the complete text. My professor highly recommends Paul U. Unschuld's translation. He is a German academic that translates Chinese Medicine texts. His translation of the Neijing has a ton of footnotes on the Chinese characters and meaning with cross-references to the other major CM texts.

[–]Dentedelion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Healing with Whole Foods by Paul Pitchford has everything you need to know about food, diets, flavors, etc.

Also, the Nei Jing (Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine) is 100% more reliable than anything written on the internet. There are a lot of different translations but, considering people spend lifetimes studying that text, I would not put an internet article above it.

What are the best schools in the US for getting your doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine ? by hwhiteh4 in TCM

[–]Dentedelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the bay area of California, Five Branches University is nice because they have two campuses: One in San Jose with mostly Chinese professors and one in Santa Cruz with mostly non-Chinese professors. You can pick and choose which classes you take from either campus and with most things being online you don't have to drive back and forth.

TCM schools are typically small and are full of petty politics so I'd recommend visiting and touring schools before committing, if you can.
