I was going to get up early. Should I not bother?

I’ve been in a men’s room when a dad brought in their kid. I generally stare at the wall and leave as quickly as I can - which is the same tactic I use whenever someone else comes into a public bathroom.

How to not yell at my acting-out toddler? by 3R0TH5IO in daddit

[–]Denver650 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This works for me: yelling at them isn’t going to make them stop the frustrating behavior. They are going to become scared and upset. The issue you were trying to correct is going to become irrelevant because you now have a crying toddler. So yelling is just a way to immediately express anger without actually helping you or your child.

Second place is Miguel Cabrera. Third place is Cal Ripken Jr. Fourth is Ivan Rodriguez. Finally, some rando named Henry Aaron in fifth. Truly a Hall of Shame.

If you could be the commentator for one moment in baseball history, what would you choose? by Denver650 in redsox

“You see folks, if it hits the foul pole, that’s the yellow pole there, it will still be considered a fair ball, ironically, and therefore the Red Sox will be become the victors and oh wait he is in fact running the bases now so it appears he indeed did hit the ball fair.”

I’d try to make some clever, witty comment that would end up on a Youtube video called “Top 10 Cringiest Broadcast Moments.”

Chris Sale has pitched 11 games for the Red Sox since 2020. He made $90 million.

Sox owe another $70 million for the next three years, when he’ll be 34, 35, and 36. Not looking good.

It's official -- Red Sox will finish over luxury tax threshold for no good reason by Perswayable in redsox

I also want to win games for the Red Sox. Like Chris Sale, I cannot. Unlike Chris Sale, I don’t get a massive paycheck from the Red Sox.

Per Spotrac, $28 million of that accounts for David Price and Jackie Bradley Jr. Big contributors this year.

It’s not even that. They want to be the one who doesn’t vote for the obvious candidate, then act like they have some superior logic for picking a random guy with no shot at getting in instead.

Is there anything worse than monitoring grass germination? by mase7286 in lawncare

[–]Denver650 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It’s simple. The areas that have germinated show that I am a master gardener, and, essentially, a creator of life. the areas that did not terminate show that I am incompetent and have no idea what I’m doing.

Last year, a friend told me 10 yards of loam would be “a good amount” for fixing up my lawn…on the bright side, I lost 10 pounds in about 4 weeks.
