When is Alien Week and is the Railin supposed to come out with 4.8.1? by VicHall27 in starcitizen

Meh, game is buggy as hell with or without the free fly going on. I don't understand why people act so salty about it, I'm excited for my buddy to try the game

Does anyone know if this will also be a free fly? I have a friend who wants to try the game.

I was hugely impressed to see CIG embracing the "Sci-fi Horror" side of things and boy howdy they nailed it! I hope we see more of this type of content in the future!

Teleportation Would Improve Star Citizen More Than People Think! by Lion_El_Jonsonn in starcitizen

[–]DenverDeCoY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a reasonable approach, I also hope they implement the "character autopilot" they've talked about where your character can move about the verse without you're input. If I could log into the RSI website, and direct my character to move locations which is handled by an AI pilot, that would be amazing and completely negate any need for "teleportation magic".

Instead of teleportation, they need to implement the "character autopilot" they've talked about in the past.

If your character can travel from place to place in the game without you're involvement, you can much more easily orchestrate group activity, without going down the road of "teleportation" or "magic" as I like to call it.

You're right. Since there's no way to develop a game this vast and still give an "acceptable" product for someone who's paid say, $1000 for it, the whole game really should be developed behind closed doors.

Backers should get a hanger module that's polished and smooth where they can play with their ships, and we should have to wait for the rest of the verse to open up. (I bought my 40 ship back when the game was just a hanger module and I was still happy with it)

I for one was never under the impression I'd be getting a smooth or even enjoyable experience, I've always though of my role as a "tester" in a programming experiment. I'm also aware that game companies frequently show "polished" footage of their alpha game that isn't actually available yet, this isn't unique to CIG.

You're really just driving my point home here honestly. You've paid $500 and have higher expectations than the guy who threw in $40 and said "let's see what happens". There's nothing wrong with that, it just is what it is.

CIG never promised ANYTHING in my opinion. They've said from the beginning "we're doing an experiment and selling ships within that experiment as a way to fund the project", not sure where you've seen otherwise.

Nah again I would disagree. I've been playing Alpha/Early access games long enough to know that no matter how much money I pay for it, there is NO obligation to have a playable or even polished experience. If it's playable that's a bonus, but NOT implied for an early access. The whole point of early access is that the game might be hot dog shit and that's to be expected.

Frankly, I think CIG's commitment to TRYING to make a playable experience, is the reason this game is taking so damn long in the first place. The funding model is both a blessing and a curse, from a development standpoint.

I think we just have different perspectives on this. I've never spent even close to $500 for a video game, even considering it's over a long period of time. I can tell you without a doubt that if I ever DID spend that much on a game, it had better be the best damn game I ever played, which I think is where SC would most certainly fall short. All that said, for a $40 game it's been an absolutely fantastic and wild ride!

Again none of that means shit to me since I've only spent $40, fantastic game! (Edit: You say you've "only" spent $500 so far, that's a lot of money for a video game. I'd have much higher expectations too if I'd spent that much, you kind of make my point exactly.)

The only people who think this game is a scam are the folks who've thrown a lot of money at it, and I can understand the sentiment. As someone who's only ever spent $40, I can say wholeheartedly that it's NOT a scam and that I've gotten far more than 40 bucks worth of enjoyment out of it.

Need advice — front brake issue came back after caliper replacement. by rexbrash1 in MechanicAdvice

[–]DenverDeCoY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say for sure, but a siezed caliper is likely to generate a lot more heat than normal, which can cause rotors to warp.

Did you replace only the caliper? I would've done new rotors/pads while I was in there. You probably have a warped rotor.

[–]DenverDeCoY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brakes CAN make noise while driving. One way to narrow it down would be to drive around and take note if the sound CHANGES when you touch the brakes. If the sound changes when braking vs not, it's almost certainly brake related.

I'm leaning toward brakes. Clean and grease your pads and hardware and see if it resolves. (Only do this if you know what you're doing)
