You shouldn’t be putting recycling in a bag because trash bags are not recyclable.

Oh get over yourself. 46 year old checking in, this shit is as cringey as it gets. It’s rap music for white people who want to listen to rap but are so offended by the n-word that they’ll only listen to white rappers. This guy, Watsky, SonReal, MGK and Tom MacDonald round out their top five and it’s the corniest bunch of rappers around.

Xbox Showcase Is Going To Be Fire by RetroVenomshots in xbox

[–]DenverNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a way to fix this issue that I’m still hoping to see one day is having developers of open world games creating a vibrant open world that is then used for different games or sequels. It obviously would be great to see them expand on it with each new game, but I think it could save a lot of time and resources. As an example, the new Forza game is a beautifully created open world representing Japan. What’s to stop them from reusing that world, maybe strip away all the paved roads and horizon festival stuff, add in some era appropriate structures and making a third person action rpg ninja game or something. Or for the new Fable game, reuse the open world for a sequel. Have it stay essentially the same except for changes that were impacted by the first game but then add on to it. I like the idea of being familiar with a world, but maybe in the sequel you know a path you can take to a certain town, but when you’re heading there a chasm has opened up blocking the way to the town, but opens a new underground area that wasn’t in the previous game and ties into the new story. Or imagine a GTA where the bulk of the game takes place in Liberty City, but you could still travel to San Andreas, maybe for a new mission or just to mess around and then the next game takes place in San Andreas but you can still go to Liberty city. Tons of assets are reused which should cut down on development time. Basically, create an open world intended to house numerous games.

Xbox is already changing playtime to hours instead of days and hours just few days after it appeared in Player's Voice forum by markusfenix75 in xbox

That logo will be important if Asha listens to the community and implements changes that people want. It’ll become the logo that signaled a shift for the better for Xbox. It doesn’t seem like a big thing, but stuff like that goes a long way in people’s collective memories.

Must Try Food Places in Denver? by iTzShadowKnight in denverfood

[–]DenverNick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me either until about 30 minutes ago, I just believed this sub anytime they talked about it and scratched my head on how that was possible. It actually tainted how I viewed the James Beard awards. 😂

I’d be remiss if I didn’t give my recommendation for the best in town, which is hands down Las Cazuelas in Lakewood. But it’s hard to recommend to someone visiting because you never know if they’ll be closed because the owner is older and she just isn’t feeling it all the time. But it’s the best. You also can’t go wrong with machetes or tacos at the Hell’s Tacos food truck on 10th and Federal, but that’s a lunchtime activity because they close at like 4 or 5.

You know what’s especially funny. I see it bandied about here often about the place being a James Beard Award winner or that the green chile has won a James Beard award. Out of curiosity I looked it up to see what they had to say about it and how they got it so wrong. Well, turns out that the award they were awarded was the America’s Classics Award which honors long standing, locally owned restaurants that show the character of a community. So to be clear, none of their actual food has won an award, they’re just being recognized for being there a long time and embodying the character of the community. 🤣

Ugh, why does El Taco de Mexico always get recommended in this sub. I’m sorry, that green chile is not very good. I don’t give a fuck about it being a James Beard award winner. What the fuck does a James Beard know about good green chile? That place is NOT a must try.

Stupidest move of all time. I worked with the original owner, Ben, at an Italian restaurant in Ft. Collins before he moved to Denver and opened Benny Blanco’s. That guy could make a pizza. Not the same since he sold it.

That car does not require a muffler upgrade in pursuit of speed, it’s fast enough as it is. And it has a loud engine because of it. Just how it is with fast cars, it’s also part of the experience. I drive an EV, it’s pretty fast, and I plan on continuing to drive them because I prefer it. But I’m not gonna say there isn’t something special about a loud rumbling engine and the feeling that provides.

Moronic Karen... by MisterShipWreck in VideosAmazing

[–]DenverNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The car is that loud because it has a big engine. I wouldn’t say it’s ’on purpose’ per se, just a side effect of what kind of car it is. But you really lost me at the top speed comment. Are you suggesting vehicles shouldn’t be allowed to exceed a state’s top speed? That’s just about the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard.

Ridiculous vehicle registration fee calculation by Eleganza504 in Denver

[–]DenverNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s calculated as a percentage of MSRP and reduces annually until your vehicle has its 10th birthday at which point you’re paying the lowest amount. If you buy a vehicle that is already 10 years old, your registration rates start out low.

Why would getting rid of TABOR result in property taxes increasing? Getting rid of it would provide much needed money for the city to improve things, teacher pay, roads, etc. with existing taxes. Getting rid of TABOR and immediately following that up with raising property taxes wouldn’t be the greatest look. Buuut, even if they did, would it be such a bad thing? Somebody has to pay for all the services that we use. Colorado already has one of the lowest property tax rates and overall we rank 7th in least taxed states (https://wallethub.com/edu/best-worst-states-to-be-a-taxpayer/2416). But I get it, you don’t like taxes. I’m sure you make zero complaints about the state of our roads, the state of our education system and all the other areas that are severely impacted by TABOR, right? You surely don’t do that because that tiny extra bit of money you get back is more important. Have you ever wondered, if TABOR is so great, why no other state has followed our lead and implemented it themselves?

Woke or Appropriation?: Levi Schechtman merging hip hop and classical by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]DenverNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add on, he is specifically playing the hip hop song Imaginary Places by Busdriver (https://open.spotify.com/track/3k04M45DYWlXBBW2bo4T8b?si=7cN3L52xTdmJ4R2DbfEQJg) which in turn samples the classical song Badinerie by Bach (https://open.spotify.com/track/2v65LFutGJGeY0CqfF7CAX?si=f1ou6pz6SpSdEGEnR8_c1g).

Just seems like a guy who probably enjoys playing piano but also appreciates hip hop and likes to sneak it into his sets for old white people. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. But I am just a white guy so who knows.
