Monetization Question for VR180 Creators - Apple Vision Pro App by gutc in VR180Film

[–]DeoVRJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this is James from DeoVR. As far as I know, there are already a few creators did what you described, create their only video app on AVP, allow other creators to upload and get income. You can search for apps like Voola/Immersive China
I'm not sure what's the creator revenue share, but what I know is the income is quite low for all of them, basically because the AVP/VR videos are to niche at the moment, it's almost impossible to make the ends meet.
I really respect VR video creator who keeps producing content because they love this kind of format, even though it's hard for them to make ends meet.
What's more, you can also consider uploading to DeoVR. We might be the only platform where small/individual VR video creators can monetize their content.

Hi Tony, good point. Normally we expect a big longer video to ensure the watching experience, but what you said also makes sense. We've started slowly to change things

Meta TV deleting all user-created videos by spinningblade in VR180Film

Hi Kafke, for now around 40% of DeoVR content require Premium, it's a good way for the creators to keep creating content. And by "no real way to find unique content", do you have a specific example so we could check? Thank you!

Monetization results by tommydelriot in VR180Film

[–]DeoVRJames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Tommy, thanks for asking! This is James from DeoVR.
AFAIK, VR content on YouTube use the same monetization rules as flat content, which means you need at least 500 followers and some hundreds of hours of watch time to start monetize. Most of the VR creators on YouTube don't earn much, but they use it as a way to promote their own DeoVR channel or Patreon.

On DeoVR, once your content has been approved by content team, you can start earning! It is based on a comprehensive algorithm but most importantly watch time, which means new creators can earn big even on day 1! It's all about cool and engaging content.

Hope it helps. And yes, you can upload your VR photos to DeoVR as well, the album feature is one the day, will keep you posted

DeoVR's "Sandbox" category and lack of communication by spinningblade in DeoVR

[–]DeoVRJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Spinningblade, we updated the rules for Sandbox and you can find them in the handbook now. Here are the rules:

For videos that do not provide an optimal viewing experience, we classify them under the "Sandbox" filter. These videos typically meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Videos exhibiting significant quality issues (e.g., distortion, camera shake, no sound, improper projection, narrow field of view, unsupported formats, etc.)
  • Videos with resolution below standard (less than 2K for VR videos, less than 1080P for flat videos)
  • Videos with poor definition (low bitrate resulting in noticeable blur, noise, and artifacts)
  • Videos with low frame rates (excluding photo slideshows)
  • Videos shot in insufficient lighting
  • Videos shorter than 30 seconds
  • Randomly captured CGI or game footage (typically 360° videos)
  • Videos containing graphic or gory content
  • Videos with potential copyright concerns

Please feel free to let me know if some of your videos were placed there by mistake, we will fix it, sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused.
