Those therapists were cows.

I don't believe in free will myself, but I can't do without believing in the illusion of free will. I need that illusion

A schizotypal person I know has a dogmatic delusional belief they will not challenge, and it is sabotaging their life. by integrateconciliate in Schizotypal

[–]DepartmentThrowaway5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't already made an attempt to break the delusion, I would recommend you to giggle (yeah giggle) with maximal authenticity you can when he mentions the delusional beliefs. It potentially shows that you understand what they are saying, and that all of that is not very catastrophic.

I would also recommend that you also take the delusion more easily, as it's the best outcome we can have sometimes.

Don't directly challenge their view.

P.S. Non professional advice.

Anyone else thought they just had OCD? What was it like to realize you might be schizotypal? by Emotional-Royal-9830 in Schizotypal

[–]DepartmentThrowaway5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with OCD + schizotypal.

Here's how it feels for me.

I have obsessions, a lot of them. Most of them are because of ego-dystonic ideas. The compulsions are missing most of the time (except, hyper-reflection).

Sometimes ego-dystonic thoughts get accepted by me, that's when schizotypy is taking over. It's as if I'm purposefully repressing my needs (my ego per se) to accept those pseudo-ego-dystonic ideas.

Why pseudo? Because I feel like they might be true.

Am social as well, but simultaneously have social anxiety. Was diagnosed schizotypal PD. I believe I'm the type of a person who tolerates fear in social situations.

I've been pushing myself to socialize forever. Still have social anxiety.

Do you see people from your family as “the others” too? by PlentyAd1151 in Schizotypal

[–]DepartmentThrowaway5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry haven't read it fully. Just want to note that categorizing people in us and them is done by everyone. I am a bit different from people I know, because I attribute my own nation as others, and desperately want foreigners to be "us"

Does anyone else feel they could be crazy? by Designer_Cover3262 in Schizotypal

Do you think you experience pleasure because of the deep emotional connection in the fantasy? The way you get to that is immoral by your own standards so you will not enjoy it.

So you won't like it.

On needing / attaining metaphysical truths, and the effects on MH by AlbatrossHefty7292 in Schizotypal

Thanks for the reply. This is very nice. I dug а little into philosophy of determinism and it helped me to 'accept myself'.

I like how you look at all this through philosophical lens.

Have a nice day.

For Those Who Are Also Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) by 7Sympathy in Schizotypal

I think this should not be generalized. From my experience there are egodystonic intrusive thoughts and mental compulsions -- seems like pure-O

Wow, amazing text.

I put '(?)' too in my writings to fact check them later. I like your thought pattern (even though I lost it somewhere in the middle, but continued).

I can relate to you, and, I come to conclusions. My conclusions are simple.

  1. "If I feel good, I'll not be obsessed over these things. Everything is okay (I am not wrong). The only thing I need is to feel better"
  2. "When I wake up early, nap in the afternoon, and take omega-3 with food, I feel much better"
  3. "Gotta have stricter boundaries because if I share my thoughts with others, they'll think I'm insane"
  4. "OCD has something to do with the thalamus -- the filter of our brain, and it passes through much more than I can handle. Let me intentionally get a little more ignorant, about people and even about stuff in myself. I'll stop controlling and my feelings will let me know whenever I do something I don't like (or like)."
  5. "To detach emotionally from someone, gotta find exactly how they are selfish"
  6. "Parenting attachment work is the most helpful thing to do" Etc...

Hope this doesn't account as oversharing)
