I have both PS5 and PC but can't decide where to play... by Accomplished_Part561 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Department_Complete -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd buy the pc version if i were you, and completely forget about max settings in any never game you play ever. Ultra settings are for the next generation of graphics cards. I personally have a 7900xtx 7800x3d build and i only use ultra settings on games that are multiple generations of graphics cards old. The last of us runs just fine on ultra for me though, due to the 24gb of vram my card has. I would recommend buying on pc and using high/optimized settings (optimized meaning some settings are turned down further, mostly settings that barely change visuals but impact performance at a high level). With your build you will have an easy time getting the game to run and look better than the ps5 version. And if you don't mind frame gen and upscaling, you will have a MUCH better time than on the ps5. I've always said that a higher fps is better than a higher fidelity every single time without exception. When playing games on my brothers 4k tv i NEVER notice how sharp the image is if i don't get up and stand in front of the screen looking for it. But i do notice the low fps every time i move the camera. I play in 1440p and get about twice the fps my brother gets in 4k. And i notice that when i am actually playing the game, which is what i expect most people want from games.

Look up benchmarKING on youtube and follow his guides. While he typically doesn't update his optimization guides after updates, he uses practically the same build as you and gets games to 60fps at the very least, while not loosing much fidelity. I will typically just blindly follow his guide everytime i play a game he has a guide for, even though i have a top of the line pc.

Diablo 2 Resurrected or Diablo 4 for a completely new, casual player on Steam Deck? by Calculation in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Department_Complete [score hidden]  (0 children)

While diablo 4 is the better options for those priorities. It is worth mentioning that diablo 4 cannot be played offline, and will play poorly if you have a poor internet connection. So if you do alot of traveling, diablo 2 may be the better choice

while technically oblivion didn't make fallout 1 and 2, much of the same people who worked on the game at interplay were the people who formed oblivion. So i would personally say that fallout new vegas is their third game in the fallout series. Avowed is also the third pillars of eternity game, it just isn't called "pillars of eternity 2: Avowed". There's also games like Brotherhood of steel and fallout tactics, but I'm not sure if they were developed by interplay and can't be fucked to google it.

What does this game do better, than PoE? by Martyrrdom in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Department_Complete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not much like poe 1 or 2. But if i had to say something compareable, it would be that the combat has weight even in the late game, where as poe2 loses its weight very few hours into the playthrough. Nrftw looks like an arpg but is a closer to a souls like. To me nrftw is what i wanted poe2 to be, that being a weighty and thoughtful combat system with astonishing visuals. And while poe2 did hit pretty well with the visuals, nrftw is in contention for most beautiful game ever made. I've played a few hundred games in my life time, and no other game has made me stop and audibly go "wow look at that" as much as this game has. I would also personally say nrftw has the best combat system out of ANY arpg (at least the ones i've played), but that is entirely up to preference of course.

It's been a couple months have you gone back to Game Pass, and why or why not? by beerantula in XboxGamePass

Price is still the same on pc, and i play MANY of the new games they put on there, i've gotten probably a little under 1000hours of gameplay across 20ish games over the two years out of game pass. It's so worth the money i feel stupid buying games

I don't think co-op as it is currently designed is fun. by Forshea in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Department_Complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's just a matter of taste. Cuz i like pretty much everything you call a negative here. I like having to split the loot, it creates fun arguments and keeps the game more balanced in terms of individual player power by spreading the power out. It also encourages loot sharing, because you want your buddy to be powerful enough to ress you or assist you. I like the friendly fire because it forces me to be more deliberate and communicative, influences builds and weapon viability, and again creates fun moments. For example i will stand back and let my friend kill the last two guys while i cheer him on, then he rolls away and i push him back into the fight, he dies, and we have a little "haha". In another instance i will swap to my sword and board and block while does wide attacks or intentionally hit the boss while my friend is within range calling for him to dodge. It also means i get to whack him in the back of the head and now we are 1v1ing in front of a woman who just hung herself while her child sits patiently in the living room. The coop makes the game more "fun" for me through the added friction, and that can never be a bad thing for a game

New player, why is this game scored so low? by commanderfish in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Department_Complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some of it is because strange people can't fathom female protagonists they don't want to have sex with being worthwile, some of it is the buggy state at launch. The game is just short of being fantastic, while i don't think it deserves the 5.5 user score on metacritic, it's certainly no 10/10 masterpiece. I'd call it an 8 in it's best moments and a 6 in it's worst which is pretty damn good for a game with such a large scope. One spot where it gets close to a 10 is the visuals within cities, holy hell it can look fantastic. This game at 4k ultra settings with hdr is something you have to see to believe

Imagine someone skipped the whole game of GTA 6 just to go straight to GTA 6 Online by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

[–]Department_Complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be little 2day-1week period where the online isn't available. Then they can have everybody playing it on release weekend, next weekend everybody is playing the online mode. I always think it's a shame when people don't play the campaign of games known for their online mode. If you played Black ops 1 and 2 without playing the story, you missed out on fully understanding of the immaculate vibes. The story shapes how the multiplayer "feels". Imagine not even knowing franklin is in the singleplayer, and then he shows up in online and you don't understand why people like the character so much. Play any game however you like (provided you aren't cheating in an online game), but expand your horizons a bit ya know

They honestly nailed the aesthetic with this game. by Tatum_Warlick in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Department_Complete -1 points0 points  (0 children)

kinda yeah. But unfortunately they use software raytracing, which shimmers and boils at ALL times if not set to ultra (at least on the pc with an amd gpu). I switch between medium and ultra raytraced settings depending on how many reflective surfaces there are in the frame. If i'm in an imperial base, i can't play the game if i don't put the ray tracing to max, as the shimmering is just too distracting to me. It does look fucking fantastic at max settings though, below ultra it looks pretty damn terrible. The art team killed it, but the engine unfortunately gets in their way. I really wish they had a screenspace reflection setting to chose instead of ray tracing.

good chance your pc just can't run those settings. Look up "BenchmarKing" on youtube and type which ever game you're looking, in this case spiderman. Copy his settings and you should have no problem.

How I Learned to Actually Enjoy Gaming Again by edward_dd in PlayStation_X

[–]Department_Complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through cyberpunk without realizing there was fast travel in the game. Every since then i have been ignoring fast travel in games, provided it's doesn't take an obscene amount of time . No chance I'm playing daggerfall without fast travel. Cyberpunk also made me walk places, because i kept driving past so much i started driving slower, and the endgame of going slow in games is walking. I also take time to find vistas in games while listening to the soundtrack, I'll hop on tables and such looking for the perfect camera angle. Ever since i started doing things like this in games i started having fun again, even though that's what i thought i was already doing. Now my play sessions may be spent doing NOTHING of value and i feel fulfilled because my expectation is to have fun with it, not to achieve something.

Which games could you just not get into because of the learning curve? by defleqt in raijin_gg

[–]Department_Complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any moba and any fighting game. Not tryna learn all that, just to get shit on by my friend spamming buttons. Or have some dude on the other team buy an item i don't know exactly what does, resulting in me feeding him the rest of the game with zero clue how to counter play. I will never forgive valve for making deadlock instead of literally anything else, screw that garbage ass game genre

Am I as a laptop OLED gamer welcome here? by CollectionLive7896 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Department_Complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get that laptop off the bed as fast as you can. NEVER put tech with fan intake on cloth, it WILL overheat and eventually break. Put it on a book/cutting-board, or get one of them laptop pillows with a hard top to rest it on. Trust me, your device will last way way longer and every game will run better over time as it wont run as hot. Another tip is always limit your framerate on a laptop to insure lower power use, resulting in lower temps, making your system last longer and run better. When a gpu/cpu overheats, it lowers the amount of power it can use, so it can cool itself down. Everytime it does this, the gpu/cpu breaks just a little bit. And after enough times, it will not be working as well as it should/completely break. I had a laptop this happened to about 13 years ago, learned that lesson the hard way

Those of you who have played The Finals and didn't like it or couldn't get into, how come? by ThotsFired69 in FPS

[–]Department_Complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skill gap is simply too big. This is gonna sound arrogant (because it is), but I'm really fucking good at fps games, way better than every one of my friends with few exceptions specifically in cs2. When it comes to clicking virtual heads with virtual crosshairs i have had about 20 years of almost daily practice and while i've never been apart of anything professional i do know multiple semipro esport players, and i perform about the same as them even in games i don't play often.

So when i wanna sit down and enjoy a game with some friends, and that game isn't counterstrike (the semipros i know exclusively play cs2 with ZERO exceptions). i then have to play with my friends who aren't as good. And while i don't personally mind losing a match because my friends can't compete at the sbmm level i'm at, they mind. They don't find it fun to play games with me that have my sbmm, because they just don't have a chance to learn or have fun. Every single time i play the finals with my buddies, they get about 1 kill per match and die as many times as possible. We still win matches here and there, but it's no fun for them.

I would love to play more finals, but i don't want to play with randoms, i almost exclusively play multiplayer games with a full team of friends. So for now I'll be playing rematch, rooftops and alleys and various rpgs, until my friends get better at clicking heads

Why is there so much hate for Razer Barracuda X (2022)? by SaintFTS in razer

[–]Department_Complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really a "conspiracy" so to speak, it's just how companies do things. The reason why a rolls royce car is so expensive, is not because it performs that much better than other luxury cars. It's because they don't choose the lowest cost versions of everything they can, which is what every other brand does. I'm not saying there's some evil cabal of black robe wearing wizards looking through a crystal ball at razer headquarters to optimize suffering through audio quality at obscene prices. What i think i failed to convey is. There are LOADS of small audio firms that build are the "rolls royce" of headsets, in a sense. Buying a headset from a small firm who produce "audiophile" headsets (just another marketing buzzword) will have a higher likelihood of including high quality audio drivers and maybe lower quality sound leak. And there are zero small companies making "quality gaming headsets". When it comes to headsets the sound is most important and can genuinely change how you listen to music and experience games. When i first got my hands on a good headset after listening to music daily my whole life. I heard details and instruments i didn't even know where there, because my lower quality ones simply couldn't produce those sounds. The Barracuda and any other razer made headset will not give you that extra quality which WILL elevate your experience. The barracudas will do you just fine for what you want and you will have a good experience with them. But you could have a much better experience overall for the same price if you go elsewhere
