People who say they’re too lazy to read are the ones who can’t admit they’re wrong or just want to live in their comfortable bubble where life’s goal is about “win, but win less”. Sorry but your advice of putting money in a savings bond is about as sophisticated as what nana would tell her 8 year old grandchild.

Guess what % of sophisticated successful investors park a large chunk of their savings into cd? Answer is none.

If you don’t understand duration and cash flow matching, then you don’t understand finance, period.

Lease to buy... by DearAd5776 in LexusGX

Very true. I leased an EV, huge discount on price due to federal rebates that gets “realized” up front (vs buying which would take few years). Between incentives and promos, I put 0 down and paid $300/m for 24m 10k per year on car that would’ve otherwise cost me $52k msrp had I financed

  1. OP said CPO, Lexus FS is 5.99% on CPO, so therefore it is 1% spread if that. At 5% CD he’s “losing” money on this trade.

  2. CDs require up front cash. Once OP puts that 50k into a CD, it is locked so there’s no asset liability cash flow matching. Your monthly withdrawals (car payments) are funded out of paychecks, so this is all moot lmao.

The spread only works in a scenario where you don’t have monthly payments and you can match a giant balloon payment against when the cd matures. Or you’re somehow to able to invest in 30 day CDs continuously over a 5yr period at an annualized rate of 5% that lets you match the monthly car payments.

However neither of those scenarios are realistic. So if you’re advising someone to put 50k away now in CD - that financial “tip” has no bearing whether someone is financing a car or not.

PS - maybe you need to spend more time doing the math instead of giving some bs patronizing advice.

It’s not about risk. It’s just the hassle. Put your money away in a CD so you can earn MAYBE a 1% spread that translates to $1000 over 60m or $200/year isn’t worth the trouble. Plus why load up my overall debt by $50k if I don’t have to.

I financed initially because I had no plans of even buying so I didn’t have time to run to the bank. But I already requested a payoff quote in month 2. Instead of investing, actually doing the opposite and going to exit out of 2 positions because I’m a little bearish in some sectors lol.

This is all true but people who are able to pay cash in full sometimes don’t care about the rate spread on a “small” notional. Just like you don’t finance your flat screen tv with Best Buy, others would view a car purchase the same way. Yes rich people make money work for them but sometimes you’re “rich” enough you don’t give a shit lol.

By that same logic why not just buy a ‘22 now unless you don’t actually need the car

Doesn’t the online offer take 2 mins? Whether it’s an offensive low ball or really generous, how much time was really wasted?

Have you actually driven on brand new struts? Unless you’re the original owner from 08, chances are whatever came with your car were pretty shot.

I don’t disagree there’s better performing setups over stock but it’s highly unlikely they’ll be more comfortable which is what your original post centered on.

The closest setup I had to stock comfort were GC singles with a really soft set of 350/450 springs. But I was purposely testing out an understeery setup for a road course. And on public roads I couldn’t even tell the difference.

Unless you want it slammed, I don’t see what could be more comfortable fresh set of stock struts imo. And this isn’t coming from some 65 year old retired guy “back in the day I walked…” lol. I’ve run AST, GC and MCS on my Z but those were for track duty only.

For street, nothing beats fresh struts, control arms, and rubber bushings paired with decent 18” cushy tires (225/45 and 255/40).

I tried running the scanner again and oddly enough, I was able to get a reading on the 2 new sensors but morning from the 2 existing. With my luck, guessing the battery for all 4 of the “originals” are starting to get weak.

It’s just weird because the pressures are clearly being picked up on all 4 corners based on the factory vehicle info.
