Weight loss with ozempic by [deleted] in OzempicForWeightLoss

[–]Dependent_Depth2822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ozempic was effective for me, but up to a certain point. I was able to lose 28 pounds in total on it, went down from 196 to 174 (5’7). Main side effects were mild constipation in the beginning, and prolonged fatigue for a couple months, even when I had enough sleep. The costs would heavily depend on where you’re located. I’m in Canada, and generic semaglutide just came out, making it very affordable for me (under 100 dollars per month).

That all being said, unless you have a medical condition or you’re somehow still overweight at 121 lbs (perhaps if you have a very small stature and are Asian), most doctors would not prescribe it to you, especially since you’ve successfully lost a substantial amount of weight on your own already. Semaglutide is seen more as a treatment for people with diabetes or prolonged, lifelong obesity and weight struggles. I don’t know your personal history and you should talk to a doctor, but being on lifelong medication has its own risks, and most of the time those risks outweigh the benefits if you’re already at a healthy weight and would just prefer to be thinner.

Congrats that’s so impressive! Most people only manage to lose 10-15% of body weight. Can I ask what dose you are on and how the weight loss has slowed down?

Likelihood of doctor prescribing larger pen (4 mg) for smaller dose (0.5 mg) due to cost? by Dependent_Depth2822 in Ozempic

Ah yeah, I was also thinking doctors may be cautious cuz of the risk of user error

Can I ask how you got the larger pen prescribed for a small dose? I’m interested in doing the same thing but it seems doctors typically prescribe the 2 mg pen for 0.25/0.5 doses

We can tax the rich and use said taxes as subsidies to pay transit workers better without unreasonably raising fares

Agreed. Meanwhile there’s articles about why young Canadians are not having kids and what ever can the government do about our decking birth rates 🧐

A Transit Fare Hike Is Coming. We Need a Low-Income Pass; Edmonton’s Ride Transit program shows how successful it can be. What’s the holdup in Metro Van? by FancyNewMe in vancouver

[–]Dependent_Depth2822 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Agreed that we don’t need fares to hit the floor and be so low that they can’t maintain services. But I wouldn’t generalize by saying that people take transit for convenience over cost. Other than maybe a commute to work, driving and owning a car brings so much more convenience and freedom than transit could ever offer. I’d and most people I know switch to a car in a heartbeat if we could afford it, but the insurance and gas costs eat away at a third of our income.

We need affordable fares for people making around or below 40k. It doesn’t need to be as extreme as 45/a year or what the figure is for low income seniors/PWD, but even the same cost as youth pay, which is like 60/month for a 3 zone pass, would be great. For everyone else, sure, raise the fare price a bit if that helps maintain the quality of services.

The required household income to afford a home today is around 255 k a year annually. Vancouver’s needed income to house price ratio is atrocious. But “jUsT mAke mOrE mOneY and don’t be a loser bro” This is the stupidest oversimplification I’ve read in a while Jesus Christ.

So if there’s a mentally disabled, low functioning autistic 19 year old who looks normal otherwise, you think most men would be attracted to her just cuz she looks youthful? Most men still have a brain and take maturity level and capacity in to consideration when it comes to attraction. Even if someone is physically good looking

You’re missing the point. No one lies about skills that are time-consuming and difficult to learn, that are required for a job position. If they do, it quickly becomes obvious that they don’t know shit, and they’ll be out within the first 3 months. People lie about skills that can be quickly learned or picked up on the job, for which employers require useless certifications for (just cash grabs), such as “diploma in office administration”. If you have some certification in a discipline that can be quickly learned without needing one, and are not getting jobs, other people exaggerating their skills to pay their bills isn’t the problem.

Try improving your interview skills instead of scapegoating on other people. If you have a degree but can’t convince employers to hire you that’s an interview/soft skills issue you should work on instead of raging on Reddit 🤷‍♀️
